As long as a person truly discerns that it’s God and not their own desires to find a Church that best fits their lifestyles, I don’t see anything wrong with it. God introduced Himself to me in the Protestant Churches. Through prayer for His will, research, reading scriptures and reflection was I led to the Catholic Church, without evangelization from another person.
As Larkin pointed out, a good start is with the ten commandments and the Nicene creed. From there, once knowledge has been revealed, one must follow His lead in other things, those things each becoming major in themself. It’s a growth process and we should never shut down on more truths existing than the ones we already accept.
