Protestants, How could an Infallible book be of use to you, w/o an Infallible Interpreter?

I only asked that to make the point we’ve been trying to make. With thousands of denominations, even if it’s only two thousand, there are differences in doctrines, some not so minor. How are people supposed to know which are true and which are not?

If the gates of hell shall not prevail against His Church, the actions of sinful men is far less than the gates of hell and has even less chance of prevailing.

Both. The Bible is the Word of God and coherent. They are not in conflict between OT and NT.

Denomination is irrelevant. What is revealed n His Word is all that matters.

Don’t worry about it. If you are one of His elect, He will bring you to where you need to be. The rest is just noise… and expected. There are a plethora of false gospels out there… but His sheep WILL hear His voice.

You have no other choice but to trust in Him.

I see from time to time people saying they were lead by God to the CC. Why isn’t it possible that God would lead a person to a non-catholic Christian church because He knows us and knows which church group will best meet our personalities?​

Yes How? The so many interpretations of Scripture,OT and NT.
Exegesis is the science of interpretation, there are two ways, the literal, what the author intended, and what is more than the l literal sense… that which God wanted understood beyond the literal sense. Typical examples would be…Mana= Eucharist. Moses, rod and serpent(the cross) Jonah and the whale, (death and resurrection).

In the Catholic Church our teaching authority is the Magisterial,

In Protestantism is it the individuals interpretation, that of the Pastor or do you have a Vicar of Christ over all who is the teaching authority of the many different denominations??? Peace, Pray for unity, Carlan

As long as a person truly discerns that it’s God and not their own desires to find a Church that best fits their lifestyles, I don’t see anything wrong with it. God introduced Himself to me in the Protestant Churches. Through prayer for His will, research, reading scriptures and reflection was I led to the Catholic Church, without evangelization from another person.

As Larkin pointed out, a good start is with the ten commandments and the Nicene creed. From there, once knowledge has been revealed, one must follow His lead in other things, those things each becoming major in themself. It’s a growth process and we should never shut down on more truths existing than the ones we already accept.
