Could a man make mistakes if they have the Holy Spirit guiding them to all Truth?
No.

How do you know if that man is being guided?

And do you know what man it is today that the Holy Spirit is guiding?

No.

How do you know if that man is being guided?

And do you know what man it is today that the Holy Spirit is guiding?
Because the scriptures tell us the manifold wisdom of God maybe made known through the Church. They also tell us the Church of the living God is the pillar and ground of truth.

No.

How do you know if that man is being guided?

And do you know what man it is today that the Holy Spirit is guiding?
I just have to take Christ’s word for it

“I am with you all days even to the consummation of the world”

matthew 28:20

Surely anyone can see the priests, the authority over God’s truth in the Old Testament, had to explain scriptures to the people, causing them to understand. This works the same for Christians, in the Church Christ built, as it did for the Jews.
Am i missing the clam of the infallible interpreter ?

Having a priest explain something to you does not make them an infallible interpreter.
Were the priests still infallible in Jesus’ time?

Please note that Paul had to correct the church in his letters
Please note that Jesus had to correct 5 of the 7 churches in Revelation.

Those churches were fallible within one generation.

Is Buddha in heaven? Mohammed?
If one’s eternal destiny does not depend upon having the correct interpretation of the Bible, maybe one’s destiny doesn’t depend on having a Bible, either.
One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike: Is that ok?
One man’s faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables: is that ok?

-romans 14

“I am with you all days even to the consummation of the world”

matthew 28:20

hence it follows that the true church must have existed from the beginning, it must have had not one day’s interval of suspended animation, or separation from Christ, and must live to the end of time.

Christ showed confidence that God’s truth could be protected, even through ‘fallible’ men, knowing He was building a Church.

**Mat 23:1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,
Mat 23:2 Saying: The scribes and the Pharisees have sitten on the chair of Moses.
Mat 23:3 All things therefore whatsoever they shall say to you, observe and do: but according to their works do ye not. For they say, and do not. **

I’ll repeat this again, even though it’s been stated but appears some have not read through the thread.

Christ said the following, speaking only to those He appointed over His Church.

**Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

Joh 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Joh 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.**

To doubt the men of the Church, and their successors, is to doubt Christ’s power to do as He promised. He spoke that He would be with them until the consummation of the world, knowing they would die, but His Church would last forever.

The Priest does not explain based on his own interpretations but of The Catholic Church

When God himself wrote the 10 commandments with his finger; who did he appoint to infallible interpret those tablets?

It wasn’t until Jesus with the Sermon on the Mount that those laws were correctly interpreted.

Your premise that God would always provide an infallible human (or organization) to interpret His Word is what is mistaken.

Moses.

Tell us Red, who interprets scriptures for you? Who is correct when your interpretation differs from others? Share with us the scriptures that support the method you use and the method for believers to know which interpretation is correct?

I think what RedBert is trying to point out
is that no one is RIGHT when it comes to Interpretations

then what use is an Infallible Book in the first place?

I might as well become an Atheist

Are you serious with Matthew 23?
that is the PERFECT example of FALLIBLE priests!!!

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites…You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?..

You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are

…on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean

…You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to

You are missing the point RED

The POINT IS
ALL MEN ARE FALLIBLE YES WE AGREE ON THAT
BUT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT FALLIBLE IS IT?

Christ showed confidence that God’s truth could be protected, EVEN THROUGH SINFUL MEN, knowing He was going to build a Church.

Then He went into detail to show how corrupt a man could be and still He instructed them to observe and do all things whatsoever they shall say to you.

You didn’t comment on the promises Christ made to the men of His Church???

Are you saying Moses and Jesus agreed on the meaning of the ten commandments?
There was an authority, chosen by God, over the old covenant.

There was an authority, chosen by God, over the new and everlasting covenant.

Mat 16:17 And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

Please share with us where your interpretation comes from and how do you know your interpretation is correct when someone else has a different interpretation? Use scriptures please.

Treat it like a gift from God, more precious than gold or silver.

Read it, study it, pray on it, question why, test all things in scripture, , grow with it , seek out tradition (small t). treat it like it was God talking to you!

[QUOT]E=polgas733;6280213]How could an Infallible book be of use to you, w/o an Infallible Interpreter?

please don’t say “we have the Holy Spirit with us”
because there is no way there can be morethan 30,000 Holy Spirit

and hence the word “Holy Spirit” it is not Plural:)

**Thank you 👍 I never thought to ask that question and its right on the mark./I]

Eph. 2:19 "So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, [singular] built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; singular] in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Eph. 4: 4 “There is one body [One Church] and one Spirit, [One set of beliefs] just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, 5 one Lord, [One Triune God] one faith, [One set of doctrine and dogma] one baptism, By water in the Trinity] 6 one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all. 7 But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. "

**2 Cor. 4: 2 “**We have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.

**2 Peter 3: 14 –17 **Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures.

**2nd. Tim. 3:16 **All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

**1 Thess.1: 5 **“for our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.”

**1 Thess 1: 8 **inflicting vengeance upon those who do not know God and upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and exclusion from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might

**Col. 1: 21 **“And you, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him, provided that you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.”

Love and prayers**

What’s is the point of reading it and studying it or even praying on it w/o understanding it?
how could God talk to morethan 30,000 people and give them different answers?
