Well, maybe not specifically, but you have more than implied that I was wrong and you were on the right path. Now, it seems you’re saying it doesn’t matter what I believe. Can I just pick any denomination out there and be garaunteed salvation?
Depends on what is in your heart.

Ok, does it matter or not? Everyone is offering advice here and everyone is taking a stand, including yourself. Again, does it matter or not?
You are offering only two choices (logical fallacy). My answer is “maybe” or “sometimes” or “Gee, it sure could” or “How does any human really know for sure?”

Or what he said: “Depends on what is in your heart”

The only advice I am giving is to soften your self-righteousness and criticism of other Christians. The RCC is fine with me. Don’t change a thing!

There you go, swinging to the other extreme again. Why would you respond with the conclusion, “Then no standards apply”? You are proving to be an absolutist, which is a form of intellectual and religious extremism.
Sorry to say ProdicalSon is getting harder and harder to reason with for this very reason you site here. Seems he won’t let himself understand what some of us are saying. We don’t ask him to believe what we believe, just understand without going to extremes.

Dokimas… Please show me in the bible where infants or young children were not baptized when entire households were:rolleyes: Please show me where christ said not to baptize young children or infants!!! Please show me this so i can understand where your coming from.

Matthew

At least one of your fellow catholic said there were 5 households that were baptized. Out of the thousands and thousands in the NT that were baptized, only 5 families were baptized. The question is, were there infants in those families? I say NO. Now if hundreds of families were baptized, you’d have a point. 5 families are not mathematically on your side.

Now it’s your turn to show us where one baby was baptized. You can’t use the 5 families unless you can prove they had infants that were baptized.

Boy do I ever agree with you. Thats all I have ever tried to do , but it doesn’t work with him:shrug:

I got two depends on what’s in my heart and one saying I’m going to an extreme. That’s it? How do I know all the Christian Churches are following all the necessary essentials? The three of you in particular, have at one time or another, told me I was wrong about something. I don’t want to be wrong. I don’t want to go to hell. I want salvation assurance. Is there no such thing? Is that what I’m to believe? Why are we all here if not to try and help each other understand how to get on and stay on the right path? If we’re all right, again why are we here preaching to the choir, so to speak? Shouldn’t we be telling the non-believers, just believe and you’ll make it?

If it’s too many questions, I’m sorry, but that’s only a few that are in my mind when thinking about the reality of what we’re discussing. Christ said not all that call His name would He recognize. That means some who think they know Him might be wrong.

We’re all here discussing the narrow path, yet now that I ask such a serious question, ‘it depends’ or ‘it’s too far to the extreme’? That’s doesn’t begin to answer any questions.

It’s not your church it’s Jesus’ church so you don’t have to worry. Remember Jesus said the gates of hell won’t prevail against it. We aren’t strong enough to protect the church; only Jesus is. May I suggest you rest in Him and stop worrying?

Are you not seeing my advice about who to talk to about this? You have not responded to that.

Yea, but like I’ve pointed out and am truly concerned over, it seems the Holy Spirit is giving different truths and then there’s the scriptures telling us to discern the spirits. What if one thinks it’s the Holy Spirit, but it’s not? It seems everyone is saying, there is no way to know for sure and these are the same people who were so sure we all had the way.

You know the Holy Spirit does not contradict Himself.

We can’t be 100% sure of anything. That’s why we need to at some point, step out in faith like Abraham did.

I am not judging you belief in the CC. Like I said my salvation came from Jesus. You are right we have no way to know and will not until we see Jesus face to face. I know for sure that Jesus saved me. It is my job to stay saved and love and trust in the Lord. It isn’t the Church whatever the name that is going to get me to heaven, it is what is in my heart.👍

If we can’t be 100% sure of anything, what’s the point of all these discussions? What if we’re leading someone down the wrong path? It doesn’t matter because we can only burn once…and forever?

I’m not trying to get anyone to tell me what I need here, I just want to know how to find assurance. If there is no assurance, what’s the point of the Bible, the Church or even Christ coming to earth? Are you all trying to say it’s all John 3:16 and the rest is just a bunch of stories and nothing essential in the rest?

I didn’t say there’s no assurance. 95% sure is quite good. Let’s face it this could all be a dream.

1 John 5:
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Do you need any more that the above for assurance?

Even Jesus had his moment of doubt on the cross.
Amen to that and in my lifetime I have had a few doubts myself, but I know that I know that Jesus loves me and lives in my heart, and that I belong to the church of world wide believers.

If that’s all we need, why did God inspire so much more for us to read through?

Most Christians for over a millenium could not even read! Nor could many of those in the days of Jesus. This is why he spoke (did not write) and why he used so many parables. He told stories with lessons.

Even Jesus had his moment of doubt on the cross.
But according to my interpretation, Jesus was using His last moments to identify Himself to those who persecuted Him. Those Jews knew scriptures (Old Testament) by heart. Does anyone doubt that? Christ spoke the beginning of Psalms 22 so they might have the scriptures opened to their hearts and realize what they had done and still have the opportunity to repent.

Read Pslams 22 and tell me it doesn’t foretell His crucifixion.

So, no I never thought Christ, who is the second person of the Godhead and knows all things, had doubts.

Two Gospel authors, one writes it in Greek, the other in Aramaic.

**Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani? That is, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mar 15:34 And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabacthani? Which is, being interpreted: My God, My God, Why hast thou forsaken me? **

Below, from two versions of the Bible.

**Psa 22:1 Unto the end, for the morning protection, a psalm for David. (22:2) O God my God, look upon me: why hast thou forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my sins.

(KJVA) <To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.> My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?**

Those verses below sing His suffering and His sacrifice, with chilling precision. Those that knew the scriptures had to know His reason for doing so.

**Psa 22:6 (22:7) But I am a worm, and no man: the reproach of men, and the outcast of the people.

Psa 22:7 (22:8) All they that saw me have laughed me to scorn: they have spoken with the lips, and wagged the head.

Psa 22:10 (22:11) I was cast upon thee from the womb. From my mother’s womb thou art my God,
Psa 22:11 (22:12) Depart not from me. For tribulation is very near: for there is none to help me.
Psa 22:12 (22:13) Many calves have surrounded me: fat bulls have besieged me.
Psa 22:13 (22:14) They have opened their mouths against me, as a lion ravening and roaring.
Psa 22:14 (22:15) I am poured out like water; and all my bones are scattered. My heart is become like wax melting in the midst of my bowels.
Psa 22:15 (22:16) My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue hath cleaved to my jaws: and thou hast brought me down into the dust of death.
Psa 22:16 (22:17) For many dogs have encompassed me: the council of the malignant hath besieged me. They have dug my hands and feet.
Psa 22:17 (22:18) They have numbered all my bones. And they have looked and stared upon me.
Psa 22:18 (22:19) They parted my garments amongst them; and upon my vesture they cast lots.

Psa 22:20 (22:21) Deliver, O God, my soul from the sword: my only one from the hand of the dog.

Psa 22:21 (22:22) Save me from the lion’s mouth; and my lowness from the horns of the unicorns.
Psa 22:22 (22:23) I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of the church will I praise thee.
Psa 22:23 (22:24) Ye that fear the Lord, praise him: all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him.
Psa 22:24 (22:25) Let all the seed of Israel fear him: because he hath not slighted nor despised the supplication of the poor man. Neither hath he turned away his face form me: and when I cried to him he heard me.
Psa 22:25 (22:26) With thee is my praise in a great church: I will pay my vows in the sight of them that fear him.
Psa 22:26 (22:27) The poor shall eat and shall be filled: and they shall praise the Lord that seek him: their hearts shall live for ever and ever.
Psa 22:27 (22:28) All the ends of the earth shall remember, and shall be converted to the Lord: And all the kindreds of the Gentiles shall adore in his sight.
Psa 22:28 (22:29) For the kingdom is the Lord’s; and he shall have dominion over the nations.
Psa 22:29 (22:30) All the fat ones of the earth have eaten and have adored: all they that go down to the earth shall fall before him. **

I’ll be honest, I don’t know the Church’s interpretation of what I’ve posted in this post. Am I way off base on this??? Did the all knowing second person of the Godhead really doubt?

So you say that parents have no say in how to raise their children in faith and morals? Through them out there in life and say your on your own as far as christ is concerned:mad:
Please show me in the bible where infants and children had to be taught first and then believe that christ was the Lord and wanted them to be baptized! Show me in the bible where christ said you must accept me first!

Please show us all where the catholic church is wrong on this:rolleyes:

Matthew
Yeah, throw um out the …
Get real Matthew. You know, its one thing to disagree but to take this to some absurd level is either a reflection of your lack of experience or thought in this matter. Do proponents of believers baptism, I assume you are familiar with the term, throw them out there in life? Do proponents of believers baptism have no say in how to raise their children? If you don’t know, you should have looked it up. If you do know, and still made that absurd statement…well I am going to assume you did not know because I want to assume good intentions.
baptism in the Bible involves either repenting (John’s Baptism), believing or having been taught something. But since you asked, this verse is probably one of the best.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard [this], they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
1Cr 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
