You error in thinking they adhere to different doctrines.

As I said somewhere earlier, I am frequently accused of posing as multiple Protestants because we all sound like clones.

Obviously we all share one truth that is the risen Christ!

Ginger
WRONG.
Some of you believe in the Trinity - some don’t.
Some of you believe in soul-sleep - some don’t.
Some of you believe in Baptismal Regeneration - some don’t
these are but a few examples of some MAJOR doctrinal differences, my friend.

Sharing PART of the truth is not enough.

But Elvis you cannot bind me outside of Jesus’ church neither you nor any member in your denomination can.

Show me where Jesus taught a celibate priesthood.
Show me where Jesus taught the Sabboth is on sunday.
Show me where Jesus taught not to celibrate Passover.
Show me where Jesus taught to pray to His mother.
I could go on and on but I wont. You get my point or at least you should.
Have you ever read where St. Paul talks about being like himself? He was celibate. All of the people Jesus called to His service were after He chose them, they led celibate lives then. Many are called, few are chosen.

The early Church choose Sunday as Jesus rose on Sunday, we Catholics can go to Mass everyday, so to us, everyday is the Sabbath.
Jesus lives!! He rose!! Even the women who first found that out ran to tell St. Peter (who as I am sure you know is our first Pope).

As elvisman pointed out above Jesus is the NEW paschal Lamb. At Mass, we remember, we celebrate, we believe!!

As a Jewish woman, the Blessed Mother is the one who would have taught Jesus to pray, since Jesus prayed with her and the first Apostles prayed with her (thats even recorded in Acts of the Apostles), we still pray with her, we ask her intercession at every Mass, …and we ask Blessed Mary, ever Virgin and all the angels and saints and you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God. (She is alive in Christ). Death didn’t claim her, Jesus did!!

(On a side note, Jesus’ family was Jewish and they prayed for their dead for at least a year after their death, hummm, seems like we do just as Jesus would have.)

Nope.
It’s like having ALL of your food in front of you but only choosing the dessert - the things you like - and tossing the rest in the garbage.
This really irks me. Stop talking about all protestants as if we are after a continual high and nothing else… We aren’t all just pleasure seekers…

How do you know that every protestant out there is picking and choosing their beliefs and practices based on what they like and what they don’t???

Excuse me, stop telling me that I just get to pick and choose what I like and what I don’t like as if those things that I don’t follow with the catholic church have nothing to do with my conscience and my walk with God.

I don’t pray to Mary or the saints because in my heart of hearts I feel it is downright WRONG. To me, prayer is a form of worship - I don’t pray to anyone BUT our Lord in Heaven because this is part of my worship. Do I worship Mary? No, so I don’t pray to her.

*Now, that statement above needs clarification. Do I think Catholics worship her? Not necessarily. It is my issue and my issue alone - if it feels like turning my attention to anyone but God I don’t do it. If you feel it doesn’t turn your attention then by all means, pray to Mary to your heart’s content. *

I don’t believe that the wine and bread become the flesh of Christ, does that mean it doesn’t happen? Absolutely not but my conviction tells me otherwise and until I can reconcile myself to the fact I am not going to ignore what I suspect is God telling me that this is not the case.

It’s not that I don’t believe in or do these things because I don’t LIKE them, I don’t do them because God tells me not to and I can’t go against God. If I believe God says NO, I can’t - in good conscience - do it until I have talked to Him and know that it is right.

It is more than what I feel (as catholics try to beat into protestants) it is what I know. To tell me that all I am looking for is a good high (which is essentially what you are saying in your quote above) and am not serious about my Faith then I take that so seriously it would make your head spin. That is bearing false witness against me and my protestant brothers / sisters and I won’t stand for it.

If you don’t believe in the basic Christian doctrines, you are not Christian.

All Christian believe the same basic doctrines that’s what defines us as Christian

This 33,000 figure gets thrown around like it is carved in stone.
To continually use this figure is to distort what truly is.
You lose credibility when you use this figure and it is not accurate.
Prove that it is inaccurate. Until then I will continue to use such figures.

If you don’t believe in the basic Christian doctrines, you are not Christian.

**Oh, really? Where is that written? Which book, chapter and verse.

Not believing in the Trinity is heresy.
That’s what I mean by your personal erroneous interpretations.

First of all - God doesn’t tell people to deny His Truths.
If you’re a cafeteria-style Christian, that’s your issue - not mine.

**Secondly, what are you talking about? When did I say that all you are lookoing for is "a good high"? When did I even imply that? **
Maybe you should bearing false witness.
Do everybody a favor and stick to the topic.

This is quite a strange thread - what with all of these false accusations from you and Ginger . . .

Hisalone, I get that al ot from the Catholics, too. Whenever they don’t, or can’t, answer a question, they ask you one and then accuse you of being evasive.

Ginger
Ginger Im not sure it is a Catholic phenomenon but it amazes me that folks expect you to address their points but never consider yours.

I’m not taking credit for anything - you’re just grasping at straws.
Jesus gave his Church full authority here on earth - not me and not you.👍

I don’t "falsely claim" anything - you falsely accuse because you don**'t understand the Scriptures.**
If you didnt want to take credit then we would not be having this discussion because we would be in agreement. But insisting that we have the bible because of the Catholic Church is ludicrous, and I dont mean the rap singer.

Your point is ridiculous.
Show me where Jesus said "Trinity" or “Bible”.
Show me where Jesus taught that Paul was Timothy’s father (2 Tim. 1:2)
Show me ewhere Jesus taught Sola Scriptura.

Whereas Scripture does speak of the early Church gathering on Sunday instead of Saturday. It does speak of the great cloud of witnesses we have around us in heaven. It does speak of praying for each other and asking for prayer.
**As for Passover - Jesus is the NEW **paschal Lamb. We don’t celebrate the first Passover which spared the Hebrews from physical death and freed them from Egypt. We celebrate the fact that Jesus has freed us from the bonds of sin and spiritual death.

There are many things not explicitly taught by Jesus that were taught by his Apostles. **This is why Sola Scriptura doesn’t work. Scripture explicitly says that he said and did things that weren’t **written down (John 21:25).
Elovis you are now grasping at straws.
Jesus speaks of the scriptures which are the bible. Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit and of the Father. does Jesus speak of Marian devotion?
The apostles celebrated Passover. You claim an apostolic tradition yet you dont do as the apostles did. By celebrating Holy week in conjunction with Passover you get a sense of the antiquity of our faith and come face to face with the roots of our faith.

Sorry, my anti-Catholic friend.
You don’t have Jesus’ guarantee from John 16:13-15. Only the Catholic Church does
Resorting to name calling I see. You must be frustrated that your falsehoods are so easily being exposed.
Jesus gave the guarentee to all His disciples. As a disciple of Jesus I have it. Is it better in the eyes of God tat I believe Him or you?

Have you ever read where St. Paul talks about being like himself? He was celibate. All of the people Jesus called to His service were after He chose them, they led celibate lives then. Many are called, few are chosen.

Jesus chose married men to be His disciples the highest calling for anyone on earth.

The early church celebrated the sabboth on saturday, they were Jewish remember. Thy did celebrate the Lords day but itwas not sabboth to them.

As elvisman pointed out above Jesus is the NEW paschal Lamb. At Mass, we remember, we celebrate, we believe!!

Did Mary teach Jesus to pray to David?Moses?Abraham?

(On a side note, Jesus’ family was Jewish and they prayed for their dead for at least a year after their death, hummm, seems like we do just as Jesus would have.)
You do not know that.

**Oh, really? *Where ***is that written? Which book, chapter and verse.

Not believing in the Trinity is heresy.
That’s what I mean by your personal erroneous interpretations.
Is it necessary to believe in the trinity in order to be saved?
