I am converting to Catholicism and I have seen many pages where Protestant websites try and fool us by saying all this stuff about how were wrong and their right. I have come to the conclusion that the Protestant mindset tries to prove themselves correct by disproving the Catholic Church. I do believe Jesus set his Church upon Peter. Does anyone else have any comments about Protestantism?
PS. I was in a conversation with a Mormon and he had the guys to say “The Bible belongs to us, not God, so God can break his rules to see Smith” SUCH OUTRAGEOUS!
I am sorry that the Reform came. We should be one. Unfortunately, even after Vatican II, thinks did not get better through dialogue.
To me it remains the conversion, the only path to Unity. I would prefer the dialogue, we are brothers, we are equals, we talk, but it did not work. And let us not fool ourselves pretending that it works for it does not.
And Protestant keep drifting and drifting and giving no chance for unity. I remember when the Anglicans started ordaining women there was a rift in Anglicanism not more Unity.
The sad truth is that we have now 200 Protestant churches and in more 500 years we will have thousands of them to choose. These churches are condemned to extinction.
I remember a few years ago we were in London and went looking for a Sunday Mass. We saw a beautiful medieval church and entering the church before us, there was this limping old lady. She asked the man and woman present in the church (the only ones) if that was a Catholic Church. The Pastor (I then discovered that) said that it was a High Anglican Church and the Lady said: “I am exhausted, God is the same, I stay here.” I was embarrassed for i had the same question, with many “sorry”. The Pastor was very polite and gave me the direction to the Catholic Church, a nest Ugly Recent Church, full of people, singing lively and going all to communion .
I said to myself: how come? That was the High Anglican Church, the Queen’s church, the pastor paid by the Queen or whatsoever, in a REmarkably Beatiiful church with one atendant: limpy Catholic Old lady.
I describe somewhere my experience at Westminster Abbey (a museum !!! I would not believe what hey did to it, tourists…), a Medieval Extraordinary Church, horrible on it use and Westminster Cathedral, a kind of Orthodox Style Church, out-ofplace-and-out-of-style Cathedal, full of people, full of vitality with an organist so full of enthusiasm that day that people were looking up.
And what kind of leadership? Henry the VIII? The Queen, head of the Church? Prince Charles? Compare these with John Paul the II or Benedict XVI (a freind of mine, teacher at a University, says that he is the only European who has something to say).
The text is long. Stop. God Bless.
