Not sure how you thought I was targeting Lutherans, when I was actually just replying to someone who mentioned Martin Luther.

Just stating a simple fact that Martin Luther did believe in the Real Presence. This is widely known.

And I said many, not all.

And all true Lutherans do , too. Confessing the doctrine of the real presence is as much expected of Lutherans as it is of Catholics.

All I can say is these Lutherans must not have been confessional Lutherans. In the LCMS (and all confessional Lutherans that I’ve heard of), you have to confirm that you believe in the real presence of Christ’s body and blood in the Eucharist before you are even allowed to partake in communion. In many LCMS parishes, you have to be confirmed and go through catechism classes before partaking, though some parishes are not quite this strict (my own parish is though). Essentially, any confessional Lutheran who partakes in the Eucharist and doesn’t believe in the real presence must be lying to their pastor. All of the confessional Lutherans I’ve come across are very strict on this belief.

Thank you for the link, I will check it out!

I can honestly say I never knew this. Thank you.

Maybe I’ve heard this from a lot of “non practicing” Lutherans, that they don’t believe in the real presence.

Also a lot of Protestants have experiences with Jesus and why doesn’t he tell them about his mother.
Probably because any vision of Jesus that would include Jesus talking about His Mother would be immediately rejected as demonic. I know several Protestants personally who will tell you that Fatima was a demonic deception (because even Satan can appear as an Angel of Light). Marian apparitions are non-biblical, ergo they are by definition demonic. Our Lady of Guadalupe is also demonic because it simply substituted one death-worshiping cult practiced by the Aztecs for another religion that rejects the truth of the Bible (i.e., Catholicism).

When I was in mejorcahi . I watched that Mary spirit descend and appear to the visionary’s.
Where is “mejorcahi” and is it the site of some apparition? If so, has it been investigated and approved by the RCC?

Blessed Mary appeared to Bruno Cornacchiola in Italy 1947. He was a baptized Catholic who never really practiced the faith, then as as an adult became a Baptist and SDA before our Lady visited him and told him to return to the fold. She (Mary) told him that the 9 first Friday’s that his wife insisted he do before becoming Baptist is what saved him. There is a fantastic 7 part series by Sensus Fidelium on YouTube talking about Bruno’s conversion…it is compelling and ties in perfectly with Our Lady of Fatima. Here is part one…enjoy:

Mary appears before those who love her, and that includes Muslims. They love Mary very much. Many (but not all) Protestants have a callous attitude towards Mary, hence no apparitions.

All Protestants I’ve come upon downgrade Mary to “just a human” or no one special because “God could have chosen anyone, she was just lucky” so I don’t see why Mary would choose to appear to someone who doesn’t love or respect her as the one who raised God. I think Jesus even eludes to this in some Marian apparitions, saying many deny her and if anyone honors Mary honors God.
Mary is “just a human”

And please define “honors” Mary.

Again, I’m not saying every Protestant is like this. Only the ones I’ve known. The Protestants I’ve known are afraid that any honor given to Mary, any praise, asking for her intercession, would be idolatry. But not every Protestant.

My impression is that very few Christians would think asking Mary for intercession is idolotry.

And can you tell me if Mary is more than human?

Remember, we do not have to believe any of the supposed Mary apparitions. These are ALL private revelation.

Her virginity for her whole life, her conception free from the consequence of Original Sin, and her bodily assumption to heaven is the sum of necessary belief for Catholic Christians.

Private devotions to her are just that… private. And if anyone thinks they have a beneficial devotion to her, yet rejects Church Teaching, they are deceiving themselves.

You misunderstand. Many protestants don’t ask for her intercession. They don’t ask for the intercession of the saints either.

I’m pretty well aware that Mary is human. I was quoting what a Protestant had said to me, which denoted a tone that Mary is just a human, just like us, no one special. Basically, what they meant, was that Mary’s “humanness” means that she is/was of no special position in heaven or on earth.

That’s an attitude that frightens me. If Mary, the Theotokos, the God-Bearer, who held Our Savior, is “just a human”, of no special importance, that G_D chose her at random, THAT SHE HAD NO SPECIAL PLACE IN SALVATION HISTORY, means that all of us are replaceable. None of us is special to G_D. None of us have any place or claim to being important to G_D’s plans of salvation for all of us.

Catholicism teaches that ALL of us are important to G_D’s plans. We ALL have a part to play. That NONE of us is “just a human.”

I don’t get that… (G_D)… what’s the point ?

It’s a habit I developed about 10 years ago, when I was researching the Jewish roots of Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. (Book plug: Honey from the Rock by Roy H. Schoeman) I learned that Orthodox Jews use a dash or some other marker when writing the name “God” as an act of devotion (since spelling out the full name would be disrespectful). Since I was on a lot of religious forums at the time, I decided to try using G_D. I found when I first started using it, it forced me to slow down in my typing and truly think about the Holy Name of G_D. Typing His Name became a kind of prayer. Now, after 10 years, it’s ALMOST a habit, but it’s not done automatically. I still think about that Name when I’m writing.

It is interesting to see the catholics praying to a familiar spirit that poses an a virgin Mary.

The author blake heeley has a book that teaches how to see dimensional spirits called the Vail.
That’s probably Medjugorje, I’m guessing.
I’m not trying to disrespect thanksgiving, but I have some serious questions. First, I’m assuming “mejorcahi” is in fact “Medjugorje”. If that’s the case, it’s difficult to imagine that he would simply wander there without knowing in advance what is allegedly happening, and if he was there, how did he manage to come up with the spelling “mejorcahi”? Second, if he WAS there, he should have noticed that there is a lot of demonic activity that happens in response to the alleged apparitions: http://spiritdaily.org/blog/spiritual-warfare/demonic-howls-erupt-during-apparition
In evaluating his claim, we need to consider the possibility that he was under the influence of a deceptive spirit.

Third, Blake Healy (note the corrected spelling) is one of 6 teachers at “Bethel Atlanta School of Supernatural Ministry” and claims to have been seeing demons and angels since the age of 6. While that would not be unheard of in different Catholic saints’ biographies, I’m leery of simply accepting that claim and of putting much stock in his book

If Mary is more than merely human, what else is she? A Goddess, or Priestess, or something?

I never even implied Mary was not special.

I do not understand Catholics who have a gross exaggerated emphasis on Mary.

Mary’s role on earth was to nurture her son, and serve His mission. And she did that without fault.
