Dear friends

it really upsets me when protestants spread untruths and lies about the catholic faith. In most cases, I’m convinced, it is so because they are unaware what catholics really believe (maybe if they studied it before making claims they would have to acknowledge that what they’re saying doesn’t make sense. Or am I being too brave?:D)

I give you this short video as example that is full of claims that have NO sense, are just wrong and have no scriptural ground. Why do the protestant think that we worship statues and make Mary a a goddess??? Is it because they LIKE to think this otherwise they would all have to become CATHOLICS??? It seems to me that the catholics don’t defend their faith enough…Maybe it would help if we left a few notes under the video…imagine, if there is 100 of them, maybe it would make them go and study a bit about the catholic faith so they opened their eyes and realise that we don’t pray to statues and what they say is a lie!!!

Well, if you’re catholic than the catholic faith? And if someone says a lie than say to him/her it’s a lie??

I do not follow him/her around

Idols?
Check Out the Jewish Synagogue at Capernaum

And if someone says a lie - Muslims blow themselves up

Maybe that’s why protestants have good basis for being undisturbed so they can spread their untruths freely…hmmm…
Great point. We, as a whole, need a fire lit under our rear ends! A holy fire!

Exactly! They do SO much -siminars, presentations, meetings, music festivals and they even attack us what do we do? Just look quietly…and they act like they had some ‘scientific’ evidence as to how ‘catholic make Mary a goddess and worship idols’. Do we do it? No, we don’t. I think we should shout it out about it. They may not know about it and I’m convinced they don’t as they’re usually being told from their ministers and parents about this…

Listen - you cannot convert anybody - just plant the seeds - That’s The Holy Spirits job to convert
But it’s not about converting Cusader, it’s about defending our truth. They attack us by saying something we do that we don’t do!!🤷

Not all Protestants believe this garbage.

Just like not all Catholics believe the untrue things some have said about the Orthodox.

They have been atacking us for 2000 years and you just realized it?

1700 - In June, Massachusetts passes a law ordering all Roman Catholic priests to leave the colony within three months, upon penalty of life imprisonment or execution. New York then passes a similar law.

All I can tell you is learn your faith and learn it right. I have had more than one protestant start preaching false doctrine to me and when you confront them with the Truth they either go away (tail between legs) Or better yet it can start a friendly discussion which may just redirect them to find the truth.
Don’t expect to see the result immediately if at all that is up to the Holy Spirit and their openness to the truth. If you truly truly desire the truth Pray Pray Pray it will be given just be patient and watch for the fruit of Love.

Scripture,Tradition and Magesterium three legs for a stable foundation.

Be patient with those who the deciever has gotten to they are bruised enough be gentle.

“The practice of placing sacred images in churches so that they [the images] be venerated by the faithful…” (Vatican II Vol. 1, p.35)
“…images of our Lord, his holy Mother, and of saints are displayed in churches for the veneration of the faithful.” (Vatican II Vol. 1, p. 193)
Saints and Mary too are venerated and adored.

Why it would be said:

2nd Commandment “You **shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness **of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; **you shall not bow down to them **nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.

The issue is when the Bible says one thing and teh CC does something that appears contrary, a degree is generally affixed to it to justify it. This leads to interpretations.

I suggest that you throw away all of your pictures, photographs, trophies etc. Otherwise you are violating the 2nd commandment. Do you agree?

lol, that is Luther’s second commandment, not the actual second. The real second is that “you shall not take the name of the lord in vain”. If you are going to make that your second commandment, you better have NO pictures in your wallet, house, cubicle, whatever, since those would be graven images. And you had BETTER not have a cross around your neck, in your church, or anywhere else. Also, we venerate but never adore. Adoration is due God alone.

Definition of veneration: To regard with respect, reverence, or heartfelt deference

This is the irony I find in that argument. You accuse us of breaking what Luther made the second commandment, but you break it in every church you build, in every photo you take, and in every cross you wear.

Frustrating to me it is…

But to the OP. we do not make the Blessed Virgin a goddess, and we do not worship Idols. We have no idols. We venerate Mary as the Theotokos, we have statues of those we consider worth veneration, and we pray to the saints in the old sense of the word. Pray = ask. We ask those whom we know to be in the presence of God to pray with us since “the prayers of a righteous man availeth much”. If you have something against asking the saints to pray for us, then you better not ask ANYONE to pray for you.

Thou shalt make two cherubims of gold. . . . And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look to one another. (Ex. 25:18, 20.)

Protestants accept one verse of the Bible but then claim their own interpretation to reconcile another verse that “appears contrary” – while at the same time, denying that they use their own interpretations of such matters.

*Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. *(Ps. 148.2)

That Vatican passage does not say anything about worshiping Mary. So, just for the record:
CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY!

If someone tells you that we do, they are incorrect. We honor, revere and adore her because she is a great role model. She held God in her womb for goodness sakes! Shouldn’t she accrue just a wee bit of honor and respect for that? Don’t you have role models that you respect? How about a creature of God so wonderful that she could bear Jesus Christ to the world? I respect a lot of people who came before me for various reason, but not a single one of them did something so great.

**The main problem is that most Catholics do not know their Faith & do not work at learning their Faith!
**
As a result, they are easy targets for the misleading arguments of well meaning Protestants who don’t know the Truth because we haven’t Witnessed to them!

Many Protestants are ex-Catholics who never learned the Faith or chose ignorance because it is easier to pick & choose what you want to believe & what you don’t!!

**We Catholics must read Sacred Scripture daily! Start with the daily Mass readings (nearly the entire Bible is covered every 3 years in the reading cycles). You can find them on EWTN with a daily homily here; ewtn.com/audiovideo/index.asp#VOD

Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) here; scborromeo.org/ccc.htm

CA & other apologetics sources are great tools. Read Early Church Fathers & Doctors like one of my favorites St. Augustine. (The Confessions of St. Augustine can be read here; books.google.com/books?id=DRMbsJAvsSIC&dq=Augustine%27s+Confessions+Ryan&printsec=frontcover&source=bl&ots=yUwcCWDlvk&sig=G2GgoIxpoVdyHXKMuekFF5sNkXs&hl=en&ei=6qIrS6HNKo6csgOQ19HGBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAwQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Augustine%27s%20Confessions%20Ryan&f=false**

i was extremely inspired by the conversion stories of many Protestants, many evangelical ministers, who were never taught the Truth by Catholics, but were guided there by the Grace of God as they studied early Church history & the Father’s writings. They realized the Church that most resembles the early Church, the only Church with Apostolic Succession is the Catholic Church & MANY OF THESE BRAVE CONVERTS GAVE UP THEIR PROTESTANT MINISTRIES, THEIR LIVELIHOODS & WERE OSTRACIZED BY FAMILY & FRIENDS FOR THEIR CONVERSIONS !

Dr. Scott Hahn scotthahn.com/, Steve Ray catholic-convert.com/about/why-im-catholic/, Dr. Peter Kreeft peterkreeft.com/home.htm, Marcus Grodi chnetwork.org/ & many others are excellent resources to learn the Truth of the Catholic Faith!

Where do you find that these creatures are in heaven? You find them guarding the Garden of Eden, you find them on the Ark, and you find them stiched into fabric.
