Dear friends

it really upsets me when protestants spread untruths and lies about the catholic faith. In most cases, I’m convinced, it is so because they are unaware what catholics really believe (maybe if they studied it before making claims they would have to acknowledge that what they’re saying doesn’t make sense. Or am I being too brave?:D)

I give you this short video as example that is full of claims that have NO sense, are just wrong and have no scriptural ground. Why do the protestant think that we worship statues and make Mary a a goddess??? Is it because they LIKE to think this otherwise they would all have to become CATHOLICS??? It seems to me that the catholics don’t defend their faith enough…Maybe it would help if we left a few notes under the video…imagine, if there is 100 of them, maybe it would make them go and study a bit about the catholic faith so they opened their eyes and realise that we don’t pray to statues and what they say is a lie!!!

Hello Happy B,

If and when such things happen? Christ told us to rejoice, Because many did such things toward and about him also. I think that is and will be part of the Glory that we will be glorified by our Father through Christ…

Although I think it is our duty as catholic to try to point out and teach others what we actually believe in hopes that they can see why they are in error about what we teach. Too what we actually have as tradtions and what is meant in those traditions.

Many say things in good faith. They trust others to provide the truth and catholics aren’t any different. But too and this is for all those who rail with accusations about what others believe… THOU SHALT NOT BARE FALSE WITNESS. Some say things without thinking and at times they do so without realizing that they are just saying what others have said.

I can bare false witness without truly knowing and it can be about anything. Others beliefs and too many have done as you have mentioned. It is for our glory that such things happen and the day will come when Christ himself shall acknowledge us and what others say and think or have thought will melt in the ferverent heat of the the fire… Christ shall destroy all things by his appearance because we shall be called to meet him in the clouds.

Peace and Godbless…

When all else fails, bring up the priest scandal. Typical tactic.

Maybe you should try reading some of this information.

As far as “political”, you realize of course that Pat Robertson (protestant) ran for office right? How about Rev. Jesse Jackson?

Since your claims are proven wrong by the information I have provided, maybe you should do a little more research on all topics you are involved in. Just a thought.
It is sickening who ever does it.

"f you really want to know if St. Paul ever prayed the Rosary, you will find your answer in the following link.

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/13184b.htm"

I clicked on the link and tried to wade through the religious mumbo jumbo for a few minutes and finally gave up.

Could you please condense it for me and give me a straight up answer?

I just did a search for “paul” in that link and got Paul the Hermit but no St. Paul.
I can only conclude there is no evidence whatever that Paul or any of the Apostles ever said the Rosary and it is in fact, a purely made up man made requirement with no scriptural basis whatever.

umm a vague term and I am sorry i used it…

By political I meant the RCC has long ago compromised any biblical convictions for expediency and wealth.
They could use their power and influence to effect real moral change in this country but they refuse to do so to gain the favor of those with wealth and power.

it wasn’t just a priest scandal, it was from the Pope down and all the hierarchy knew about it and countenanced it. Even now, the Pope is protecting the real culprits from Justice.
The RCC has no creditability in moral areas until they make this right.
But arrogance and pride will prevent them from doing so.
How many souls will die and go to hell because of their pride?

Wow!

Are you unaware of the unmistakable and vocal stand that the RCC has taken against the murder of unborn children?

It is a stand squarely with the Scriptures, it is an unpopular position, and they have done their best in opposing the murder of unborn children.

Well perhaps this link is more to your liking. If I gave you a straight up answer, you will have learned nothing.

If you deduce the answer by using logic and common sense, you may benefit greatly.

yea they talk a great game but continue to allow people that actively promote abortion access to the services with the benefits thereof.

I can tell you without reservation that if Pelosi came to my church she would get an earful and not be allowed membership unless she repented publicly.

Why are you even bothering to ask this question? Do you think it’s a clever way to score quick points against the Catholics?

Since you are apparently adverse to “mumbo jumbo” let me try to summarize the article for you. The Rosary itself originates in its current form in the Middle Ages and its devotion was popularized by the Dominicans. The idea of using beads or stones to “count” prayers is an old practice used by Christians for various prayers way before the rosary and even those of other faiths. Some hermits and monks used beads for saying the Lord’s Prayer. None of this is to say that the Hail Mary was invented in the Middle Ages, the prayer existed in various forms way, way before the rosary, most of the prayer itself comes straight from scripture.

To ask if St. Paul ever prayed the Hail Mary seems to be a fools errand. What prayers precisely did St. Paul utter? Perhaps we could say the invocations he wrote in his various letters but should we then argue those were the only things he ever prayed? No, I don’t think so. Was Paul aware of the words spoken by Mary as Luke recorded in his Gospel? I bet he was. Did he ever pray them? I don’t know, Maybe Mary was still alive during most of Paul’s life, maybe she was dead by that point. But your suggestion that runs through the question itself isn’t true, Paul would’ve understood why we would pray the rosary and to Mary and he would heartily approve.

No, Paul never prayed the rosary because it didn’t exist when he was alive. So what? The Church found a new way to pray. This happens to be the most scriptural prayer there is, by the way. It is a meditation on the the life of Christ taken from the Gospels. Maybe I’m wrong, but your posts so far have been nothing but attempts to bash our Church. Do you have anything to offer other than this?

ok i read the page, it said “early Christians” (whoever they might be) used to say the Psalms (certainly nothing wrong with that if done with thought and meditation) but was replaced by some passages from St. Luke.

I still see no biblical basis for saying it endlessly and mindlessly like some hypnotic trance.

I see a creepy worship of Mary elevating her above anything said in scripture as if she is “queen of heaven”. where might that be in the bible??

Seems like it centers on Mary and not Christ as if Mary has some supernatural power herself.

Still no example of ANYBODY saying it in the Bible, no Biblical basis for its existence whatever.

I am a question asker. I drove my early pastors crazy with questions. In my world, questions cut to the heart of matters and strips off layers of deception.
I am not looking to make any points with anybody about anything. I found this site and thought it was different than most of the worthless stuff on the internet and thought I could get some real issues answered.

I appreciated your candor and honest answer. I am coming to the conclusion the Rosary seems like something that started out as a real spiritual help to some people but like so many things over the years turns into rote and mindless jabber.

But Spiritual helps are not biblical and shouldn’t be pounded from the pulpit as such.

How many souls will die and go to hell because of their pride?
HugeFeet,

Well this has no biblical basis.

Countless times in the scripture the covenant of Lord was to have imperfect individuals… Page after page line upon line here a little there a little corruption existed in individuals…

It begs many questions about sin. Was Israel’s credibility ruined when King David, a man after the Lords own heart according to the Lord? Had another man murdered so he could marry his Wife? Did God hold all Israel corrpt. No, No ammount of other peoples or individuals corruption justifies abandonng the RCC faith… Individuals will not destroy what the Lord has done no matter what individuals do that seem less admirable or immoral by others standards… It’s not Arrogance or Pride that prevent things from being done as others who aren’t catholic think they should act. Not one soul will die and go to hell for what King David did or what a Pope or a Priest has done!

As Christ Prayed, Father I have kept them whom though gavest to be with me. No amount of others corruptions can diminish the Love Christ has for his bretheren and Children… The Covenant that the Lord made shall stand and those in it are his chosen and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail… Do you actually think that men will stand in the way of our Lord or prevent his will from happening?

Peace and Godbless

You have no idea what the rosary is yet that doesn’t stop you from bashing it. One does not pray the rosary “endlessly and mindlessly like some hypnotic trance”. As I said in my prior post, it is a meditation on the life of Christ. We only ask Mary to “pray for us, now and at the hour of our death”. The Hail Marys are the background music which helps us focus on the mysteries of Christ’s life. If you want to ask questions in order to learn something I can assure you that you will find plenty of help on this forum. If you just want to bash us I doubt you will last long. If you want to criticize a particular belief, you should learn something about it before you do so.

"Do you have anything to offer other than this? "

any heart felt prayer honestly confessing sin asking the Lord to forgive them, help them and use them is better than a million rosaries mindlessly said in rote.
I don’t need Mary, I know the Lord.

ahh yes The Lord has used imperfect and sinful people for His work. absolutely He has.
but the RCC tries to play both sides. On the one hand they ask me to confess to a priest that speaks and stands in place for the Lord in a perfect sinless way and then asks me to forgive those some foibles the priest might exhibit that I do.

I refuse to go before some pedophile priest with filthy hands asking for forgiveness of my sins. The veil of the temple was rent, I can march boldly into the throne of grace to ask for help in time of need. Christ never sent people to priests to forgive them, Christ forgave them.

I thank my God that Christ died for me that I would not have to grovel to wicked sinful men to be forgiven and gain entrance to Heaven. any religion that says I must, protestant or catholic is just out for power and wealth.

Unfortunately, there are always Protestant wingnuts who’ll tell lurid untruths about the Catholic Church as a whole. Unfortunately, there are always Catholic wingnuts whom the Protestant wingnuts’ narrative kind of fits.

I only wish we Protestants had the kind of internal hierarchy, answerability, and disciplinary mechanisms needed to clamp down on our miscreants of this type. I admit, I’m a little puzzled that the Catholic Church DOES have such tools to hand, but never seems moved to use them that I’ve noticed. Is there more to this problem that I’m not seeing as an outsider?

It would help everyone involved if you would ask your questions in a manner that suggests that you really want the answer. Your approach leaves me with the impression that you already “know” the answer to what you’re asking and will not be bothered to read through a post that contains the real answer.
I appreciated your candor and honest answer. I am coming to the conclusion the Rosary seems like something that started out as a real spiritual help to some people but like so many things over the years turns into rote and mindless jabber.
It sounds to me like you need to study the Rosary a little more. If it’s become “rote and mindless jabber” then that person isn’t meditating and praying it properly. Not at all.
But Spiritual helps are not biblical and shouldn’t be pounded from the pulpit as such.
Actually, a person can be a good, faithful Catholic, go straight to Heaven when they die, and have never prayed a single decade of the Rosary in their life. It isn’t required at all. It’s a private devotion, not a dogma. If you think it’s “pounded from the pulpit” you are sorely mistaken. What is “pounded from the pulpit” at my parish, at least, is “God loves you. He wants to use you to demonstrate that love to others so they may come to know Him and His love. Go out and serve God by serving them.”

Hugefeet,

Yes, I see what you mean! I think you miss understand the Priesthood. And too you have unrighteously judged.
Do you think the Israels sins were never forgiven because of Corrpt Priest. Do you think they were perfect in all things as where our Priest are suppose to be… They have to go to confession too. If you can’t be forgiven by those we sin against, then maybe you don’t seek forgiveness…
Forgiveness is something we accept as well as something we grant… What did Christ say when asked by those following him… If a man sin against me seven times in one day shall I forgive him? The Lord response Seventy times in one day though shalt forgive him… Cast the Beam from your own Eye before helping others… Priests aren’t there to Judge although they certainly can remitt or retain as taught. But to help us to overcome sin in our lives…

Do you know what the difference is between self righteousness, and those who in their head say that the Lord in their head has forgiven them? Or are you only Judged or have sinned when your sins are public for all to see…

Peace and God Bless
