I can see that. But you are not the only one I can see. All I did was ask anyone to watch the movie, concentrate on the Blessed Mother and right after the movie tell me what you felt, if you felt a bond, another way of seeing her, etc. I saw all of these responses and got so excited. Then:( Not one person did it, Then why respond??

I understood I would get negative responses, but wow! Not one person watched the movie first.🤷
I did it… but I was sort of side-tracked by another post first. Please excuse the delay.
I have a deep respect for Mary, but I do not share the Catholic dogmas about her. Watching the movie again did not change that fact either.

I was not much into Mother Mary being a Catholic until recently (past 2 months now). I didn’t need to see the movie, but thought long and hard with reverence to our Lord and Savior. Jesus followed the Commandments and one of it was “Honor thy Father and Mother”. If he can honor his Mother, and we are supposed to imitate Christ, then I felt I MUST honor Our Mother.

Past several weeks Ive been saying the Rosary and have found a lot of peace and yes, results. 😃

I can share the same sentiments. I was reticent to praying the rosary; something changed my life and I was led to pray this particular prayer and eversince it has brought me and others peace and answered prayers.

Hail Mary Full of Grace!
God Bless:)

Agnostics were not asked to answer this question, but the OP’s reference to having her own children reminded me of my response when I watched my wife delivering both our children: that birth is a very profound biological fact, and that I truly don’t believe that Jesus was conceived in any fashion except with the sperm of his father, most likely Joseph of the story.

ANd MOST LIKELY you would be wrong:D Of course you don’t agree with scripture, but if you did and read it you would have never made such a statement. Because scripture would have shot you down on that one.

If you read Genesis you would have never made such a statement. THe Lord said to the Serpent I will put enmity between you and the woman, and your seed and HER SEED, He shall bruse your head and you shalll bruise his heel.

This is clear that Jesus Christ conquering satan bruising satans head dealing a death blow. And Jesus is the seed of what woman? This is the only place in scripture where it mentions the womans seed and not the Mans. And less of course you can show me another place.

And of course the woman spoken of her in Gen 3:15 is of course Mary.🤷

I did not expect you to accept Catholic dogma, I just thought that you could see how we as Catholic’s relate to her more as the Mother of Christ. And you could see how we can relate with her so much in seeing our own Children suffering. Our special bond as parents with her. Thats more of what I was looking for. Buts thats okay you are being honest and thats all I can ask for. Thank-you for doing it though, I really appreciate it. 😃

of course

And the Jews knew this when they wrote it, right?
No. Just as Isaiah and the other prophets did not know when they prophesied that the Messiah was coming that it would be Jesus and that He would not be a political king.

The Holy Spirit inspired the sacred writers what to write. He didn’t tell them the full meaning of it. These things were always there but only became apparent to man in hindsight.

That the “seed” of Eve in relation to the serpent (then made without legs to crawl on one’s belly as a snake) means Jesus is a very stretched claim that only a few make.

Talk about seeing things in hindsight!

What do you mean ‘only a few make’? All of christianity understands that Jesus is the Promised One and the Seed of the woman who would defeat Satan’s seed. BTW it is not only by this one particular scripture that we can ascertain that it is Jesus who has fulfilled all the prophecies.

God Bless

Agnostics were not asked to answer, however, you do claim to have been a former protestant. What did you think of Holy Mother Mary then?

Genesis Chapter 16
10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her: 'I will greatly multiply thy seed, that it shall not be numbered for multitude

When interpreting texts, similar use of the same phrases must be taken into account, as above (I presume Hagar is not supposedly just another allusion to another figure in the Christian narrative). One must also take into account the background context of the scriptures being the Jewish scriptures. All three figures, the man-god, the virgin mother of the man-god and a figure called Satan which is not completely under God’s control, are all figures that not only don’t exist in Judaism but which are contrary to Jewish beliefs and concepts. It is similar to interpreting the words “In the beginning” to show that God came into existence with the creation of the heavens and the earth (as opposed to the Jewish concept of the eternal God).(I will ignore the changing of the pronoun in some Christian translations and also that to the best of my knowledge the Christian son-god has yet to have dealt a death blow to Satan)

I understand, But they do exist in my faith.😃 That’s why I am Catholic, not Jewish:thumbsup: There is much of Catholic teaching that is contrary to Jewish beliefs, but all we can do is pray for eachother and unite together someday the way God wants us to do. For now until you can accept Jesus Christ we will always have a large block between us. But we can love and accept eachother for now on what we agree on. And I am sure we can agree on one thing. With God all things are possible.👍

May I also add, I saw the videos you have at the bottom of your response. The 3rd one really got my attention. It show’s nothing but hate for the Pope, and Americans. This saddens me so much. Especially when I and others have family who may never come home again trying to help not hurt your people.

Forgive me for de-railing the thread. But I will continue to pray that we can all see eachother for what we are Gods people. Not Catholics, Jews, Protestants. etc. And may my prayers in some small way, be a beginning to help melt the hate, and if we can all pray together find peace in our hearts, instead of the hate that is so alive in that video.

No pride involved. I try to respect my mother just as Jesus respected his.

Mary is the best example of an obedient wonderful and amazing servant of GOD. The mother of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

My salvation does not depend on me believing that Mary was anything more then what is stated in Scripture.
I agree with your statement 100% for me and you. But to many she is the key to getting a soul to Christ, and the salvation Jesus won for us and freely offers to each and everyone of us. In no way does that mean that Mary offers salvation or that she can save us. Just as your pastor preaches the word and helps bring you closer to Jesus, so does Mary. To understand what the rosary is, is to understand contemplation of scripture. Praying the rosary is praying with scripture.

A properly disposed devotion to Mary brings one closer to her Son, that’s her mission.

The movie portrays this beautifully, although some of the scenes are obviously “poetic license" and cannot be supported with scripture which is the sole authority for most Protestants; I refer to the specific scenes in the movie not what scripture does teach us about Mary.

As it is not clear from your post - the third video is about Islamic fundamentalist extremists attacking Jews, Catholics and Americans.

It seems odd to me that protestants will not see St. Mary for who she is. I have purposely provided a scripture explicitly attesting to the nature of Her that is the Mother of Our Lord. She is one in His Heart and it can be further explained but I would gather that the two sole protestants who answered so far would not be able or willing to accept any further interpretation especially since it comes from a catholic source.

Open your minds and let go of your pride maybe then you can come to respect Our Mother just as Jesus respects her.

May the Holy Spirit enlighten you:)

Jesus had an answer to this;

Luke 11:27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

28 But → he said, Yea rather, → blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Ps 119:11;130-133

The Blessing does not come through the mother of Jesus Christ but to be transformed only through the Word of God to those to do it and obey it only. Not to have a sin nature anymore or no more sinning if we turn to Christ only, Right?

Is not that the higher teaching of Christ?

Yes, and it saddens me that this is happening. We can only come together through God. And we may not be in total agreement with our faiths. We are close, very close, by our love for God. That is what will unite us someday as one.

My heart breaks for all who suffer for ones who have so much hate and violence in them.

Seems to me Jesus is saying that this earth will pass away, but the spirit which can live for ever, because of him, is the most important thing to him?

Question:

Does not John write that we are hear for his pleasure? Are we not the created?

Which has higher value to God, the spirit or the body?

I believe as creator God can do anything he wants with me. He can kill me and raise me a hundred times, put me on crutches or in a wheel chair. he can allow me to be boiled in oil and and keep me alive. It’s all about his Glory!!

If God wanted to use Mary for his purposes so be it, He is God. Mary praised him for it.

Please show me where God commanded Mary to be put into the position of authority that i have seen Catholic place her.

In the Passage above, if Jesus was putting Mary in such a position this would have been a good place to announce it. Maybe? How about the first part of Acts before he left. I have yet to see the definitive direct evidence? to me only hear say and opinion. If this idea of Mary being someone to go threw to get to Jesus is true, I can’t believe God didn’t leave the evidence for it. And please if the evidence was there i don’t believe there would be so much controversy around it.
