Protestants, why are you not Catholic?

So you don’t mind so much if I question the reasons why you’re not Catholic, i.e., you know I’m not doing it for the sake of being annoying? God bless!
I have no issue with you asking why I am not Catholic as I hope you have no issue with me telling you. 👍 Annoying is something we can debate! lol just messing 😛

I do not see Orthodoxy coming to unit as long as there is a Pope. 🤷
That may or may not be, but that wasn’t my question. The question is if you would be there when the two of them unite, then why aren’t you a member of one or the other now?

Because I am Anglican Catholic and not Roman Catholic or Orthodox.

Im sure many Anglicans in the Anglican Communion would seek unity if the Roman Church and Orthodoxy united. I’m sure many Lutherans would as well.

Make sense or not really?

I have absolutely no problems with you telling me anything, I can defend my beliefs pretty well. 😃

Jesus told you. you shouldn’t be Catholic and you should persecute his people? What page it that on?
Wow. How sad that you see yourself as being persecuted. Oh, wait, That’s what Roman Catholics do to protestants all the time.🤷

And, if you haven’t been paying attention, the Holy Spirit does talk to many Christians that are not RCC. Again, sorry if that disappoints you, but it’s a reality.

See this is how these threads always turn out. A poster creates a thread “Why_______” and people respond. The question was…“Protestant, why are you not Catholic” and we answered. Then it turns into My Church is right, your community is wrong…we have the fullness of faith and you do not…Catholic Church worship statues…no we do not…etc.

We go in circles over and over with neither party actually gaining anything but frustration.

🤷
AMEN!!!

That is what some–I will be honest it is just a few–RCs do to other RCs that they feel do not tow the line.

It’s interesting the parent religion of the CC was Judaism that has at its core rigorous religious engagement. Remember how Abraham negotiated with God over Sodom. I will say that again, Abraham negotiated with God. Yet the CC shuts the door to mere discussion on many topics.

What’s the most problematic “single issue” that keeps you from converting to Evangelical Christianity?
A numerous of reasons: the lack of authority (hence the Vatican), the non existing tradition, the false doctrine, but foremost the fact that principlely everyone can do as Luther and chose to keep the parts of the faith that you like and trash the rest ( the 73 books of the bible reduced to 66 by Luther)

Also I wouldn’t lay my eternal destiny in the hands of some excommunicated munk as Luther, then I prefer to rely on 2000 years of Traditions and be led by the Pope.

If I have to pick one reason it will be the last one…

Yes it makes sense. I misunderstood you originally. I thought you were saying that you personally would leave the Anglican communion to join the reunited Catholic Orthodox church.

Part One: as it’s been said MANY, MANY times Luther DID NOT REMOVE any books from the bible. In fact, as it has been pointed out, the Luther translation has 74 books.

Part 2: I prefer to be led by the Holy Spirit and God’s Word, and not some excommunicated monk or a Pope.
