The Dragon could not devour the newborn Child because he was caught up to God and his throne. The sacred author alludes, without doubt, to the ascension of Christ and his triumph, which will cause the fall of the Dragon. Jesus Christ, by his glorious ascension, ascended to heaven and now reigns next to God the Father for ever and ever. St. John passes suddenly from the birth of Christ to his ascension, dispensing with all the facts of Jesus’ earthly life, his passion and resurrection. This does not mean that he does not know those facts, to which he alludes in the ν. 11 and throughout Revelation 47, but pretends to show the impotence of Satan before the omnipotent power of God and his Son. St. John, even in his Gospel, overlooked the childhood and youth of Jesus. What interests the sacred author here is the continuation of the struggle between the Dragon and the Child, represented in his followers. Christ is the firstborn of many brothers48 who were to follow his fate, painful first, glorious later. Jesus Christ is the captain who directs the squads of his followers against the forces of Satan. The fight will continue as long as the world lasts. But the Dragon will be powerless to resist the impetus of the celestial army. It will deflower its rage, as it drains it in our passage, before its impotence in front of Jesus Christ and to the Woman who has engendered it. The establishment of the Church in this world exasperates Satan, who gives himself to persecute it by all means at his disposal

The Woman had to flee to the desert (v.6) to get rid of the attacks of the Dragon. It is an anticipation of flight, which will be discussed again in v.13-iy. What does this Woman’s flight into the desert mean to escape the Dragon’s rush? Above all we must bear in mind that the desert is the traditional refuge of those persecuted in the Old Testament49. In addition, St. John knew perfectly well that in the desert Israel found a refuge against the persecution of the Egyptians and in the desert was fed by God with the manna. In Hosea it is said that God will take his people to the desert and that there he will speak to the heart. This desert50 is none other than the withdrawal of the world - in which the Dragon reigns, Satan - to live the life hidden with Christ in God. In this desert, the Church of Jesus Christ will be preserved from pagan contamination and will be able to lead a deeper spiritual life, of greater concentration and intimacy with God. And there, in that intimate retreat with God, Christians will be nourished with the miraculous water of the divine word and with the bread lowered from heaven that is the Eucharist, represented by manna51. This is how they interpret this passage Primasio, Andrés de Cesárea and San Beda.

Narrates Eusebio that, when exploding the Jewish war of years 66-70 d.C. and before Tito besieged Jerusalem, the faithful Christians of this city, by virtue of a divine revelation, withdrew in the year 67 to Pella, in Transjordan, thus escaping the ravages of war 52. There is no problem in admitting that this fact I have been able to suggest to San Juan this image of the flight to the desert, although Transjordania was far from being a desert at that time.

The permanence of the Woman in the desert will last one thousand two hundred and sixty days, that is, three and a half years, or, in apocalyptic terms, half a week of years. This period of time represents all the time the persecution has to last, whatever it may be. It is a figure that is known to us by Daniel, where it is equivalent to the time that the abomination of the desolation of the temple of Jerusalem 53 carried out by Antiochus IV Epiphanes has to last. The duration of the persecutions of the Dragon against the Woman and her Christian children will be half a week of years, a symbolic figure whose real value only God knows54. After these persecutions will come the definitive victory of Christ55 and the kingdom of peace.

The Woman, fled to the desert, is sustained by God during the entire duration of the persecution, that is, for three and a half years. There is evidently a clear allusion here to Israel, fed in the desert by the manna that God sent him 56. And possibly also refers to the miraculous sustenance with which God strengthened the prophet Elijah so that he could walk and reach Mount Horeb57. The author of the Apocalypse often uses facts and passages from the Old Testament to express and illustrate much higher realities of the New Testament. In this follows the same conception of St. Paul, for which the realities of the Old Testament were figures of other higher realities of the New Testament

Hi guys… I have a question

I get a problem when trying to prove to my friends who are protestants that the virgin Mary is really in heaven though i know she is. Can you help me to make them understand that this woman is no ordinary???
Look at this supernatural Marian Apparition. This is obviously not done by any ordinary human spirit.

Our Lady of Guadalupe

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

It is said that this image miraculously appeared on fabric December 12, 1531.

NASA has discovered of Our Lady of Guadalupe to be living.

“The space agency NASA (USA) published the results of research made over the icon Our Lady of Guadalupe.”

“Sensational was the fact that analysis of opthalmologic eye reduction Mary showed pupil at the approach of light and the expansion at it’s disposal as it happens with the eyes of the living person.”

“Also, researchers found that tissue temperature, which depicted an image, meets healthy human body temperature - 36.6 degrees.”
“When listening to the body Mary stethoscope, the researchers found a significant heart rate of 115 beats per minute, which corresponds to the baby’s heartbeat which is in the womb.”

“NASA engineers have also stated the paint with which the image was made does not exist on Earth and has never existed – written by the Tsn.ua which is a news site on the internet.”

“In the beginning of the 20th century a bomb was detonated next to the image. As a result of this, everything was destroyed in a large circular radius, the image, however, remained intact.”

“The Holy Virgin, according to records, appeared to an Indian, Juan Diego, in the winter of 1531, on the mountain of Tepeyac, near Mexico City to the north. The records shows that a woman appeared in a gold fog and called upon the man to “go to the bishop […] I want a church to be built on this place!” The bishop did not believe Juan Diego and the meeting repeated itself the next day. Diego went to the bishop for the second time. The bishop said that he would believe that the Blessed Mother had appeared if he brought a sign. Diego met again with the Blessed Mother who sent him up to the hilltop where he found blossoming roses despite the season. Juan Diegon gathered the roses into his simple rob and took them to Zumarraga bishop. The chief priest fell down to his knees before the sight: the poor clothing, a tilma (loose robe) of the indigenous man changed into the portrait of Our Lady. The Cathedral of Our Lady was built at that place where Diego’s tilma is still guarded today.”

“Aldofo Orozco, research physicist, reports that there is no scientific explanation for the still surviving tilma. Over 10 years similar cloths become ruined by the local moist, salty air. The copy, for example, which was made using the most advanced technology in 1789 was placed behind protective glass, totally faded over 8 years. In contrast to the original, unprotected tilma which has not been damaged after more than a hundred years by the UV-rays, the moist, salty air and the tens of thousands of lit candles near the image.”

“The original image attracts crowds of pilgrims: the basilica which guards the icon is said to be the most visited pilgrimage in the world. According to data of Mexico City, in 2004, ten million pilgrims were welcomed only between 9th December and 12th December. The numbers of the visitors reach twenty millions throughout the year.”

Mary appearing with the angel is obviously blessed and in the condition of heaven.

Luke 1:42.And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

God chose Mary and then he abandoned her after Jesus was Born in some of the Protestant view mostly Baptist. I wonder sometimes if its jealousy. You would also have to say if you believe this that Jesus failed to save his own mother - we all know how we feel about our own mothers - this simply would not have happened it makes no sense. Basically this view says Jesus did not care or love his mother and we know this is not true. It would be Gods biggest single failure if the virgin Mary is not in heaven. The real question is why and how did they come to this view point that Mary was just a tool to be used and then tossed aside and forgotten and went to hell.I think the proof should come from the poster - prove Mary is not in heaven and explain how and why Jesus would of allowed this to happen to his own mother - It makes no sense.

Sorry its not the poster who doubts who I challenged - no need to reply - this is my opinion on it - its ridiculous to think that Mary is not in heaven and basically says Jesus failed to save his own mother - does Jesus fail - the answer is no God does not make mistakes or fail. As I said this would be God biggest single failure - that Jesus couldn’t even save Mary his own mother.

Prove that Mary is in heaven.

If someone said that to me, I would say, “You first—prove that she isn’t!”

Seriously, though, why wouldn’t she be? Is someone making that argument—that she should not be in Heaven? Is there any argument at all against her being in heaven?
