Excellent post! We do not need scholars to explain to us how the change takes place using fancy philosophical words and theories.

Faith and knowledge, is in simplicity. 👍
Amen to that 100 times and Our Lord Jesus the Christ once said, unless you became like little children you will not enter the kingdom of GOD.

This became real to me when once my air trip from Chicago to Los Angeles we experienced a little mechanical problem and everone maybe except a few were panicking. I settled down when seated besides me was a child so quiet sitting in his father’s lap and just staring at his father’s face amidst the turmoil and I realized that we too shoud be like that child in times of turmoil. A child is so simple in his belief and so trusting.

JESUS I trust in YOU.

JESUS I believe in YOU.

JESUS I love YOU.

Please forgive those who do not believe, trust and love YOU.

Prayer of an angle during one of the apparitions in Fatima, Portugal in 1917 to the 3 shepherd children.

Holy Mysteries such as Holy Trinity, Transubstantiation, etc are mysteries. We can believe in them because they were revealed to us by GOD Himself in the Scriptures, Traditions and magisterium. And GOD cant deceive and cant be deceived. However may you tried to explain them they are still mysteries or else they wont be called mysteries.GOD HIMSELF is a mystery and if we can explain everything about GOD then HE is not GOD anymore and we are not humans anymore.

Remember the experience of St. Augustine? One day while he was strolling along the beach he saw a small child with a shovel and pail going back and forth to the beach, filling the hole he dug with the water from the ocean. When asked by St Augustine what the child was doing the child in all his simplicity said he wanted to fill the hole with the ocean and that hits the saint because at that time he was pondering on the mystery of the Trinity. We cant put GOD (ocean) into our limited material human brain (hole). He is INFINITE and we are finite. It wont match. It wont fit.

Blessed are those who didnt see and yet believe, Our Lord Jesus the Christ once said to St Thomas and the apostles.

hi all i haven’t read the entire thread, just the OP…the title got me to thinking so i’ll just throw this into the mix for some fun…can any one give me the precise phsyical dimension of an idea,or even an electrical current. 😃

I do not know how many times I have to say that if the philosophy behind “transubstantiation” assists you personally, then go for it.
There are many Catholics and even non-Catholic Christians who believe in the real presence but don’t need that word to believe. We already explained that to you.
I am simply stating that it is an unnecessary teaching and I have seen people become terribly confused by the whole concept.
Those who say certain things about someone else say those things most of the time because it is true of what they think or say. Do you get where I’m going with this? I really think that the first time you heard that word and what it meant you were confused so you didn’t want to deal with it. But at the same time perhaps you thought you didn’t need it because you already believed. And that is fine. If you already believed then you wouldn’t need that word. And so I say, that is just fine.

I agree with you as far as not needing that word if you already believe. Why can’t you just humble yourself and say that you agree that there might be some people who might get some enlightening with that word and its explanation?
I truly believe that the Early Church Fathers taught no such philosophy when they dealt with the Real Presence in the Precious Gifts.
One day your eyes will be open so that you can see that they did. I pray it be soon, if it’s God’s will. He has His own time.
But I will concede that there are people who may undoubtedly benefit from the Thomistic explanation.
Wow, finally. 🙂
Please do not feel threatened because I happen to believe it is not necessary to embrace such a concept.
Not necessary for you perhaps because it might have confused you when you first heard it. But good thing you believe anyway. I’m speaking for myself here but I’m sure Ron is also not threatened. I myself am not threatened by your belief that it is not necessary. But I do feel like I have to defend those who feel that word and explanation necessary for them to start to see and then possibly come to believe because of it. Of course we know it is ultimately because of God’s grace that they believe. But God works in many different ways and different people come about the grace they need in different ways.

How about What is God’s word in creation, and what is voltage, watts, amp’s? Something to ponder anyway.

Great. 👍
Those who say certain things about someone else say those things most of the time because it is true of what they think or say.
Amen. It surely confused me the first time I heard it…and the second…and the third…
Why can’t you just humble yourself and say that you agree that there might be some people who might get some enlightening with that word and its explanation?
I’ve said that multiple times on this thread…amazing! Btw–have you ever heard that when people are always telling others to humble themselves that they may need…er…never mind.
One day your eyes will be open so that you can see that they did.
Usually, those who accuse others of not having their eyes opened are…er…never mind.
Not necessary for you perhaps because it might have confused you when you first heard it.
Yes. The strange philosophy behind this word tends to confuse people. Ask your average Catholic—you will see.😉
But I do feel like I have to defend those who feel that word and explanation necessary for them to start to see and then possibly come to believe because of it.
Then by all means…do what you feel you have to do.
Of course we know it is ultimately because of God’s grace that they believe.
Amen.
