Although, of course, the poll in the NewEuropean / Times shows a Brexit majority, which surprises me somewhat.

It also conflicts with all the straight “Leave/Remain” polling from all the different organisations, which shows Remain ahead in every one by a fair margin.

What this poll suggests is that when different Brexit options are put forward (rather than the binary Remain or Leave choice that so bitterly divides the populace), Revoke Article 50 and Remain comes out clear top from all the choices by a very wide margin, but there are still enough people willing to compromise among the populace to give “softer Brexit” options something in the 30%s when added together.

The good news is that few people want a no-deal Brexit, which means that it is certainly not the will of the people.

Yep.

I see the Express (until it finally discovers a sub-editor in the building) has the LibDems beating the LibDems. 😄

I know!

Probably just so flustered and apoplectic about the clear verdict of the poll that they couldn’t even string coherent sentences together.

I also think this strengthens the case for the idea that the only truly fair way to conduct a second referendum is to make it a contingent two-stage referendum: Remain/Leave first, followed by actual Brexit choices should Brexit win again.
