which begs this question-- is anyone here old enough to have their day ruined by this one:

wo ho ho it’s magic (la la la la )
you know
never believe it’s not so
i’s magic (la la la la)
you know
never believe it’s not so.
Well, does my 28 year old daughter count? Okay, she probably heard it because one of us was playing it!
but small favors are recognised:
  1. today was Mass and church picnic-- no trumpet playing. no owls puking in my bed.
  2. at least we’re not doing New York New York and that line-up.

Speaking of CCR.
It was just about a year ago.
I set out on the road
Seeking fame and fortune
and looking for a pot of gold.
Things got bad and things got worse.
Looks like they took my friend.
Oh, Lord! I’m stuck in Lodi again.

I can’t get rid of this rap:

“Well, I was shopping for a new car
Which one’s me?
A cool convertible or an SUV
Too bad I didn’t know my credit was whack
'Cause now I’m driving off the lot in a used subcompact;
F-R-E-E, that spells free
creditreport.com bay-bee
Saw their ads on my tv
Thought about going but was too lay-zee
Now instead of looking fly and rolling phat
My legs are sticking to the vinyl and my posse’s getting laughed at
F-R-E-E, that spells free
creditreport.com bay-bee.”

I finally got cured of that terrible Gilligan’s Island earworm. I spent the weekend listening to the Moody Blues. At least their music has something to say.

Dude – my 3 year old sings this song! :rotfl: or the alternate:

They say a man
should always dress
for the job he wants.
So why am I dressed up
like a pirate in this restaurant?
It’s all because some hacker
stole my identity
Now I’m in here
every evening
serving chowder and iced tea
Shoulda gone to
free credit report dot-com
Could have seen this coming at me
like an atom bomb
They monitor your credit
and send you email alerts
So you don’t end up [serving fish/food?]
to tourists in t-shirts.

Yeah—or this one:

Well I married my dream girl, I married my dream girl
But she didn’t tell me her credit was bad;
So now instead of living in a pleasant suburb
we’re living in the basement at her mom and dad’s.
No, we cant get a loan for a respectable home
Just because my girl defaulted on some old credit card;
If we’d gone to freecreditreport.com
I’d be a happy bachelor with a dog and a yard.

It makes more sense than THIS one:

“Fab five Freddy told me everybody’s fly,
DJ spinning, I said, My, my,
Flash is fast, flash is cool
Francois sepa flashe no deau,
and you don’t stop, sure shot,
You go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car
And you drive real far
And your drive all night
Till you see a light
And it comes right down
And lands on the ground
And out comes the man from Mars
And you try to run
But he’s got a gun
And he shoots you dead
Then he eats your head
Then you’re in the man from Mars
You go out at night and you eat up cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns, too
Mercury and Subaru,
And you don’t stop
You keep on eating cars
Then when there’s no more cars
You go out at night and you eat up bars
Where the people meet, face to face,
Dance cheek to cheek, one to one
Man to man, dance toe to toe
Don’t move too slow
‘Cause the man from Mars is through with cars,
He’s eatin’ bars
Yeah, wall to wall
Floor to floor
Hall to hall, he’s gonna eat ‘em all
Rapture,
Be pure,
Take a tour,
Through the sewer,
Don’t strain your brain,
Paint a train,
You’ll be singin’ in the rain,
Baby, don’t stop
Do punk rock”

And it goes on, but I can’t remember it all! (Praise God, although I’m sure someone out there will kindly supply the last verse… )

“Lodi” is like a theme song where I am. I sometimes want to call members of CCR and suggest they stop going to Lodi.

well I have the Emmy Lou Harris version, sounds like the last two lines are

guess you know the rest,
O Lord, stuck in Low-die again

what is that last line?

spent last month with my family and came back with ghastly soundtrack of HS musical stuck in my head, because my granddaughters insisted on playing in in their new van everywhere we went. who would name a daughter after a breed of dog?

I have my “visa run song” stuck in my head. My working visa expires this week, and I have an exit order to leave the country. I made this song up when I came to Korea five years ago, and I still sing it every year when I have to jump a flight to Japan to re-enter Korea on a new visa:

Sung to the tune of a children’s song:

I’m going to go to Japan tomorrow,
Japan tomorrow, Japan tomorrow.
I’m going to go to Japan tomorrow,
And I’ve got to stay all day.
Going to Japan, pan, pan,
Not really a fan, fan, fan,
It’s a pain in my ***, that land,
But I’m going to Japan, pan, pan.

Over and over and over… all day… usually starting two or three days before I leave, and it stays in my head until two or three days after I get back.

just wondering, i hope everything works out good for you!
who would name a daughter after a breed of dog?
puzzleannie, you have a granddaughter named Pug?
