First I was afraid, I was petrified!
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side.
But then I spent so many nights
just thinking how you did me wrong.
And I grew strong.
And I learned how to get along.

And now your back, from outta space.
You just walked in to find me here
with that sad look upon your face.
I shoulda changed that stupid lock,
I woulda made you leave your key
If I’d of known for just one second
you’d be back to bother me.

Alright now go, walk out the door
Just turn around now,
'cause you’re not welcomed any more.
Weren’t you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbyes
Did you think I’d tremble?
Did you think I break down and cry?

Oh no not I, I will survive…😃

Well, I watched a DVD of Die Fledermaus twice in the past 3 days, and its tunes are running through my head… luckily, I love them.

But let’s not talk about the time “the Howdy Doody song” got stuck in my brain for three whole days!!!

I can’t believe this hasn’t been posted yet but. .

Kum ba yah, my Lord,
Kum ba yah.
Kum ba yah, my Lord,
Kum ba yah.
Kum ba yah, my Lord,
Kum ba yah.
Oh Lord, kum ba yah.

Never mind the song, now I can’t get the jail scene from “The Replacements” out of my head! :hypno:

ever since you put me down ther’s been owls puking in my bed…

I could ***shout ***the AveMaria all day long, but it’s not louder than my kid’s trumpet playing, which only stopped at about 9:30.

by the way-- did i mention y’all are evil?
Well, at least those times you are running errands you can try to replace it, you know, when you’re not at home listening to his wonderful music and practice 😉 (see, trying not to be evil!)

Just a small-town girl
Living in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train going anywhere
Singer in a smoky room
Smell of wine and chep perfume
For a smile you can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers
Waiting
Up and down the boulevard their
Shadows searching in the night
Streetlights
People
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night
Dont stop believing
Hold on to that feeling
Don’t stop believing
Hold on to that feeling.
Or if you prefer,
Rising up, back on the street
Did my time took my chances
Ran the distance now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of the rival
And the last real survivor hunts his prey in the night
And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger.
So many times it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive…:ouch:

I loved the Great American Hero because waaaay back then, I was crushing on William Kats.

oh-- and yeah-- my trumpet kid ***is ***really good and I am really proud for whatever few moments I can get my brain back.

but tomorrow is Sunday and we live right across the street from the Church. rule is: there’s no trumpet playing during Mass times-- and the vigil is tonight! sanity is just a few OWLS-- I mean hours --away…
I see my “Hero” occasionally on re-runs of Perry Mason. I loved that Greatest American Hero. Good times…

Our band is playing New York, New York! Chicago, and "I left my heart in Sanfrancisco… "

I’ll have to remember the ‘earworm’ description… so true.

I just have to say you guys are a riot. I was laughing so hard as I read this thread my husband came up stairs to make sure I was alright!!!😃 😃 😃

CCR has my favorite:

there’s a bathroom on the right

there is another song I have never deciphered, from the 80s I think by a group I don’t remember

blinded by the light
wrapped up like a boot with a boulder in the night

now I know that is not the lyric, but what are they really saying?

So today I sitting in church listening to our pastor’s homily and he’s talking about Saints…the people we admire most…and into my head pops:
“And the 3 men I admire most
The Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Took the Last Train for the Coast
The Day the Music Died”
Don McLean - The Day the Music Died
Why do our brain’s do that?🙂

Don’t break my heart
My achy, breaky heart.
I just don’t think he’ll understand.
And if you break my heart
My achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man.

Cant’ you just hear the* Whoooo, hooooooo*!

Manfred Mann, “Blinded by the Light”:

"Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like deuce, another runner in the night"

Those are the lyrics, but I have no idea what they mean. When I was kid, I used to think he was actually singing about a ahem, feminine hygiene product, in place of the word deuce. It’s a very weird song (I like it though), singing about “silicone sisters w/ managers misters”, and “go cart mozarts checking out the weather charts”, “and the calliope crashed to the ground”, and all. Anyone know what that song’s about, anyway?

In Christ,

Ellen

Blinded by the Light was Manfred Mann but it was written (and that band discovered and produced) by Bruce Springsteen.

I don’t know what the song is about but whay back then Springsteen got to thinking that maybe everybody was right about him and that maybe he really was the new Bob Dylan. he wrote a few lyric-laden ditties as a result.

r so the New Jersey urban legend went waaaay back then (1974, 75, 76). we loved Springsteen. we thought he belonged to us. and we and thought he was magic.

which begs this question-- is anyone here old enough to have their day ruined by this one:

wo ho ho it’s magic (la la la la )
you know
never believe it’s not so
i’s magic (la la la la)
you know
never believe it’s not so.

but small favors are recognised:
  1. today was Mass and church picnic-- no trumpet playing. no owls puking in my bed.
  2. at least we’re not doing New York New York and that line-up.

Not that one so much, but was anybody else one of the dozen or so people who saw “Xanadu” and remembers Olivia, and the ELO, and “Have to believe we are magic, nothing can stand in our way. Have to believe we are magic, don’t let your aim ever stray. . .and if all our hopes survive, destiny will arise. . I’ll make all your dreams alive. . .for you. . .”

Speaking of CCR.
It was just about a year ago.
I set out on the road
Seeking fame and fortune
and looking for a pot of gold.
Things got bad and things got worse.
Looks like they took my friend.
