On November 15, Fox 2 pundit J.C. Corcoran slammed St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke and subsequently contacted the police when someone complained about his screed. We called Fox 2 news director Kingsley Smith for his position and learned that he stood by Corcoran.
Corcoran opened his remarks by saying he was not a practicing Catholic, admitting that “many years ago I gave up on religion basically because I thought it was silly.” Here is an excerpt of his remarks about Archbishop Burke and the Catholic Church today.

“Burke is old school, but I’m not convinced old school works right now. Too many things have changed. What I see, again from the outside, is the Catholic Church pretty much at the end of its public relations rope. The sex scandals continue to mount, the flock is thinning, and young men and women aren’t exactly knocking down the doors of seminaries and convents trying to get in. And locally, instead of a respected spiritual leader in the community, you have a guy who’s been stomping around, alienating, threatening, intimidating, excommunicating and carrying on since the day he got off the plane from Wisconsin.”http://www.catholicleague.org/release.php?id=1358

Tolerance, as it has been defined by the Left, is a one-way street. I had a poster tell me the truth on another forum. Basically, they don’t want to feel guilty or ashamed or embarrassed about anything, and most of all, they don’t want to be considered sinful. That’s all that’s going on; people who no longer want to tolerate sound doctrine as predicted in the Bible.

God bless,
Ed

Fr. Zuhlsdorf once posted a story on his blog about a conversation he had with then-Cardinal Ratzinger some years ago. Father had asked the Cardinal how he was able to stand all the liberal media dragging his name through the dirt. Cardinal Ratzinger replied that if he did not see a negative story about himself at least once a week he would have to make an examination of conscience.

Thanks to this criticism we know that the good Archbishop is doing his job. Lets hope and pray he develops a thick skin from this experience.

I suggest that we send short letters and emails to Archbishop Burke assuring him of our continued support and prayers.

Fox seems to have a definite agenda. They seem especially heavy with ex-Catholics and CINO [Catholics In Name Only]. Remember Father Pavone’s confrontation with Sean Hannity.

I think they’ve been very unfair with the Catholic Church in general.

On what do you base this assertion? I frequently see good Catholics on Fox, national. The morning program has at least two Catholics who speak frequently in favor of the Church. I can’t speak to the local affiliates.

AMEN! You know you have a good Bishop when the liberal media totally hates him.

I love our Bishop. He stepped into the fight with a cue ball in a gym sock and has been swinging ever since. 👍

Email sent to Archbishop Burke! What a great shephard.

Also, being from St. Louis let me say that JC is a loud mouth that has an opinion about everything. Having seen his “segment” on Fox 2 news several times I can tell you that his opinion is no different than that of the others out there that do not have all the information about a specific “news item” about the Catholic Church or anything else and they form an opinion too quickly. The only downside for JC is that he has a forum to express that opinion. For me, it is a waste of a minute of Fox 2’s time. But then again, you can bash the Catholic Church and still keep your job, right?

You know you are doing something right when Satan targets you. One of the (many) reasons we can be assured the RCC is the place to be. Satan doesn’t waste time with religions that aren’t threats.

Diocese of La Crosse here. The Archbishop is a great and holy man. We miss him, but we thankfully received another fine Bishop, so it removed the sting a little bit of losing someone like Archbishop Burke.

Sent him a note as well.

(I was at a Marian conference at the Diocesan center once and wasn’t watching where I was going. I almost trampled the poor bishop. 😊

:hypno: What alternate universe have I stepped into? :hypno:
One where local broadcast affiliates are different than national cable networks of the same name. Similarly Fox Chicago (channel 32) ain’t no conservative think tank either. I don’t even have cable so it took me a loonnngg time to figure out why people held up Fox as the conservative alternative. “Ohhhh, THAT Fox. Never heard 'em.”

I dont know what you are all talking about, saying that foxnews is liberal, the individual fox stations might be, but foxnews is most certainly conservative. btw Fr. Pavone wasnt fighting with Hannity, I believe it was Fr. Thomas Eteneur (not sure if i spelled it right) Foxnews is always standing up for Christian values, and I respect them for that. Setting all this aside, I cant believe the arrogance of these punidts, telling leaders of a Church they know nothing about what to do. This reminds me of the countless journalists who criticize the Pope for being “intolerant”…well…to that…I would quote G.K. Chesterton, “Tolerance is a virtue of a man without convictions.”
