I was really wondering what part of what I said was incorrect. Perhaps you mis-read what I wrote a little, I guess I could see how. I wasn’t suggesting (RE baptist) that they just go to heaven, I was however saying they don’t just go to hell. Particularly since most of them would probably fall squarly in the ignorance category (as in, ignorant of the full truth, also not trying to sound arrogent here, just accurate).if this sounds arrogant, sorry… sometimes truth sounds all kinds of weird ways…but my post is a more accurate portrayal of the Catholic view…
for instance it is wrong to say that Baptists will go to Heavnen. some do some don’t…
if one is a baptist and suspects the RCc may be right about some things… and doesn’t bother ivnestigating things… that person could be in serious trouble.
**Jesus said ti is hard to make it into Heavne… **i think the main reason he said that is because peple dont want to change, don’t want to give up thingsthat drag them to Hell… material things, lack of charity… sex… e tc…
if he said its hard to get there we should never act like … well, like just anyone can get into Heaven… better to err on the side of caution.
Regarding Jesus saying it’s hard to get there, consider this paradox:
Revelation 7
And now:Of the tribe of Zabulon, twelve thousand signed: Of the tribe of Joseph, twelve thousand signed: Of the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand signed. 9 After this I saw a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and tribes, and peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne, and in sight of the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying: Salvation to our God, who sitteth upon the throne, and to the Lamb.
Matthew 7
So on the one hand it’s nearly impossible to get to heaven, but on the other it sounds like… nearly everyone in the world gets there?13 Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat.
Well if you read up on the CCC, you’ll see the Church’s explaination for this, which falls sort of in line with what you’re saying:
1036
The affirmations of Sacred Scripture and the teachings of the Church on the subject of hell are a call to the responsibility incumbent upon man to make use of his freedom in view of his eternal destiny. They are at the same time an urgent call to conversion: "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few."618
So yes, it’s a warning to always live your life free of mortal sin, and as virtuous as possible as you do not know the hour of your death. But at the same time, Jesus wasn’t born, scourged, beateb and crusified so that most everyone can be sent to hell. The plan, is to save humanity, to bring us in to heaven and spend eternaty with our Lord. So always remember to check any feeling of “opressive fear” over the state of your soul, with a reminder that God really really really loves you.Since we know neither the day nor the hour, we should follow the advice of the Lord and watch constantly so that, when the single course of our earthly life is completed, we may merit to enter with him into the marriage feast and be numbered among the blessed, and not, like the wicked and slothful servants, be ordered to depart into the eternal fire, into the outer darkness where "men will weep and gnash their teeth."619
But regarding the OPs question. Yeah, beign a fall away Christian makes things difficult. From those who have much, much is required.
