It is very much so backed up by scripture, just gotta know where to look. All our beliefs are backed up by scripture, unless you don’t recognize the CC interpretation on scripture. Which, no offense Tweety, you have proven time and time again, that you do not recognize the CC interpretation on most of scripture.
Col2:8

But tweedy would that not be what you would consider someone telling you what to believe. Is that not the scripture according to Luke?
I sent 2 or 3 bible verse to tweedy and she said I do not believe,I,m sorry she you said I disagree and after 3 Post she was still saying I disgree and I ask you disgree with what,I never got a answer.

Again a flippant answer. I covered different things. One was what the Bible says. one is what history says and the third is what the Church who has the authority given by Jesus as recorded in the Bible says.
What the Bible says is what I go by.

What I said was I do not agree that the CC is the only one who can interpert Scripture and that all Scripture was written for all to undrestand Sir

But we are not all Priests, We all are given different gifts. Again do you claim to posses the power of the Holy Spirit to give absolution. If you do why does Gods word say to go to the Church.

Now all you are giving me is what YOU think, what YOU say, Can you now quote to me the teaching of the Church or Scripture to back up what you are saying.

Please show that to me now:D Now your opinion, I want what God says not you.😃
A Cathloic priest does not forgiven sin ,God forgivens sin

What part of the teacing do you feel we are being lied to about tweety, or what part do you feels contradicts with scripture.
  1. Purgatory ,which this thread is supposed to be about. Not what I believe in.

Tweety be a good bird:D and answer bill. Fair is fair. 😃

This is what I told him, but he kept saying I didn’t believe this scripture. I told him the same thing 3 times.

Okay, thats fair, now where does scripture contradict purgatory and show us that purgatory is not possible in scripture.
Ok where does it talk about purgatory, It says all mens work will be tested not going to purgatory, This is something men made up like annulment.

Correct Bill but God did give that Priest authority stand in for him and do so. So really the Priest does have that right. It is never on his own authority but its Gods authority working through him. ANd if the Priests says to me you have total absolution that came from God. And that is a sin that if total forgiven by God through the Priest.

Will somone please read LK10=16 That tell it all
Luke 10: 13-16 The call to repentance that is a part of the proclamation of the kingdom brings with it a severe judgement for those who hear it and reject it.👍

Is this statement truthful.
What the Bible says is what I go by.

Then why does scripture say Peter feed my sheep and not to all the world feed my sheep. Why did **scripture say **You are Peter and to YOU I leave the Keys to the Kingdom. Why did scripture not say to ALL I leave the keys to the kingdom.
And you know that this is not for all, because?

Than Jesus was wrong when He breathed on the Apostles and said who sins you forgive they are forgiven Those sins you retain shall be retained?.
From the Bible
He told the the Apostles to PREACH not to WRITE. No where in the Bible can you see a command for the Apostles to write what Jesus said but to PREACH. The WORD was meant to be heard not read. Jesus established a Church. He ordained His priest to carry the WORD and to teach us what to do.

"You are ROCK and upon this Rock I will build my Church.

Yep I do. I believe the rock was Peter"s faith not Peter.

The word purgatory is not used in the Bible just like Trinity is not there.

But that does not mean there is not support for it.

Mt 5:48
Heb 12:14
Jam 3:2
Rev 21:27
1Jn 5:16-17
Jam 1:14-15
2 Sam 12:13-14
Mt 5:26, 12:32, 12:36
2Macc 12:44-46
1Cor 3:15
1Pet 3:18-20; 2:6
2 Tim 1:16-18
1 Cor 15:29-30
The Catholic Encyclopedia has a good article
Part of that article is:
There are several passages in the New Testament that point to a process of purification after death. Thus, Jesus Christ declares (Matt., xii, 32): “And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.” According to St. Isidore of Seville (De ord. creatur., c. xiv, n. 6) these words prove that in the next life “some sins will be forgiven and purged away by a certain purifying fire”. St. Augustine also argues “that some sinners are not forgiven either in this world or in the next would not be truly said unless there were other [sinners] who, though not forgiven in this world, are forgiven in the world to come” (De Civ. Dei, XXI, xxiv). The same interpretation is given by Gregory the Great (Dial., IV, xxxix); St. Bede (commentary on this text); St. Bernard (Sermo lxvi in Cantic., n. 11) and other eminent theological writers (cf. Hurter, “Theol. Dog. Compend.”, tract. X).

Yep I do. I believe the rock was Peter"s faith not Peter.
Yet you said that other scripture quotes you didn’t believe. Even this belief is not biblical. It does not say that the rock is faith but that the rock is Peter.
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, 13 and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
Show me that Jesus said He would build His Church on Peter’s Faith. I don’t see it there.
