Jeremiah 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

Jeremiah 7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

Jeremiah 7:20 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Just because people call a false “queen of heaven” queen of heaven doesn’t mean she is actually the Queen of Heaven aka the Theotokos anymore than when people call a false “god” god that their actually talking about the One True God.

Just because the ancients called Zeus god didn’t make God not God. The Theotokos aka Queen of Heaven Is the Queen of Heaven even if people used to call someone else the queen of heaven who actually wasn’t.

Last I checked, calling Mary the Queen of Heaven has nothing to do with the “queen of heaven” of Jeremiah 7. This is an illogical argument. See SMM’s post.

your fallacy lies in the fact that Jeremiah is decrying the fact that the people are worshipping a false goddess, a mythical creature upon they themselves have given the designation Queen of Heaven.

God Himself chose Mary as the mother of his Son through whom he would take on his human nature, and God Himself assumed her body and soul into heaven and crowned her queen. If you are looking for a type of Mary in the OT look to the queen mother of the Davidic kings.

This is old hat-what website did you cut and paste from?Heard this crud before -if you gonna be anti-catholic at least be clever about it.this is about as wooly as grandma’s winter underwear and with as many holes .
P.S.-I would change my user name if I were you. WE MUST HAVE TRUTH IN ADVERTISING

Its funny how people come from everywhere to call me wrong but never use scripture to justify the claims.

Perhaps because it is your interpretation of the above scripture that is false. You do not even give your interpretation of the scripture, but instead leave us to assume that you interpret it in the same [erroneous] way that we have seen before. Because Jeremiah 7 is talking about a “queen of heaven”, it is up to you to prove that Catholics referring to Mary as the “Queen of Heaven” is equating her with the “queen of heaven” in Jeremiah 7. Since it is you, not us, that makes that equivalence, it is up to you to prove it.

Excuse me, but you’ve started other threads that are being responded too with scriptures, only to have you not answer questions or address points being raised except to place your interpretation over ours.

We’re back to the interpretation authority again, aren’t we?

Do you think you actually proved something with those quotes?you better actually learn some real history and actually think on your feet instead of regurgitating tripe from neo-facist,neanderthal leaning, anti intellect , brainless bigoted websites which apparently have nothing to do but criticize Catholics and anyone else that they cannot stuff into a narrow little box which contains your finite view of an infinite God.Shouldn’t your first priority be your own soul and of those you love instead of coming here and making ridiculous ,oft stated ,always ignorant statements? And when we answer you you reply with smarmy self righteous blather? your name is a misnomer-there is no truth in you and you seek nothing but stroking your own ego .

And don’t forget the abandon the thread only to start new ones.

I **have **noticed that. Having one or two threads at a time to address a couple of specific concerns is one thing, but when one sees a half-dozen opened in a relatively short period of time, that looks less like concern to ‘seek truth’ than it does like 'slamming Catholic teachings".

Why, the OP never even said just who Jeremiah was speaking of. The Catholic Church isn’t the Queen of Heaven, and neither are any of us. . .so why the 'question? title?

I have a question for Truth Seeker --Did you have a Christmas tree up? Or is Jeremiah speaking of that too?

One of the titles of Mary in the Catholic Church (and perhaps the Orthodox Church) is “Queen of Heaven”. He is trying to imply an equivalence between the “queen of heaven” false deity in Jeremiah 7 and Catholics referring to Mary as the “Queen of Heaven”. For his argument to work, he has to first demonstrate equivalence between the two.

I have asked the OP, in another thread, for his/her Church affliation and if their Church has a website. They, for some reason, will not respond to that request.

With all the different threads started, without responding to all points and questions raised specifically in response to the ‘topic’ of the thread, has the ear mark of an agenda, as opposed to ‘seeking a truth’.

Today I received a Holy Bible Quote, it is
“If you respect your father, you can make up for your sins, and if you honor your mother, you are earning great wealth.” Sirach 3:3

Early Persian Emporers called themselves *King of Kings *and yet we find in 1 Tim 6:15 the following:
and this will be made manifest at the proper time by the blessed and only Sovereign,** the King of kings **and Lord of lords
And in Rev 19:16:
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed,** King of kings **and Lord of lords.
If your premise is that* Queen of Heaven *cannot be used to describe Mary because in the OT it was associated with a false goddess, than what is your response to the title *King of Kings * to describe the Lord? Keep in mind that Persian Emporers thought themselves divine.

God bless you
