I found it difficult to reconcile the accurate description of Catholic moral theology given by the head of the Dept. of Religious Studies at DePaul with the description of the LGBT&Q (did I get 'em all?) course. The LGBT&Q professor and male students speaking about the minor were all self-identified homosexuals. I sole woman quoted did not so identify but was described as a “women’s studies major” and that’s usually a prima facie indicator of sexual orientation.

After listening to the NPR program, I can’t believe that the course is communicating Catholic moral theology cocerning sexual orientation in the DePau courses. The DePaul graduated quoted probably accurately summarized the nature, purpose and effect of these courses at DePaul. Like most such multicultural offerings, they are far more about propaganda and “celebration” than they are about intellectual rigor.

We must hope and pray.

My daughter left DePaul after her first year there in 1999. I swear that more damage was done to her Catholic understanding there than anywhere else she has been. Sometimes I think that the mission of most “Catholic” colleges in the U.S. today is to wipe out a student’s faith, supposedly so that the student can then AUTHENTICALLY decide whether or not Catholicism, or any religion, is really “for them”. . .

So they like people of the same sex. Big deal! What is there to study?
