lol? Ok, I’ll tell all my athiest friends to not where condoms, then we can spread the fad, and we can have a baby boom, thats just what this country needs.
Well, you kept using the word “we” and you seem to be an advocate, albeit misinformed, of condom use.

Look, the Catholic Church views sex as an act meant for the creation of life. Think about that for a second. The creation of life.** People who disrupt or choose to ignore this sacred aspect reduce sex to a mere contact sport. If God gives you a gift and you abuse it for your own pleasure, what makes you think God wouldn’t be offended?

Condom advocates often use the AIDS argument. Reality is that condoms have done little to curb this epidemic. Thanks to the UN and other misguided organization, there are so many condoms freely available in Africa that children use them as water balloons. Yet, Africa is the only continent that still has an ever increasing rate of HIV infection.

A condom is no magic bullet. In fact, it’s Russian Roulette in a small wrapper. Pull the trigger enough times and you will lose. Statistically, a condom will fail 12% of the time.

You don’t get it, do you…
get what buddy?

I do not see how that could offend god if you use it after marriage. I am gonna use it if I ever have pre-marital sex, which I doubt cause after highschool, my professions will have little time for that kind of hobby (I am signing up for Army, then might consider
Navy after about 4-10 years in Army)

That is why a lot of girls in our school take the pill, which I heard, helps them in their periods which is another thing they seem to like about it.
I know lots of atheists who managed to keep their pants zipped up/ panties on until the wedding night. There’s nothing about atheism that presupposes immorality - even they know that sex is designed for reproduction. (They don’t know Who designed it, but they do know what it does, and how it works.)
And? Mine don’t, I don’t know about your atheist friends.

Clearly you haven’t been made aware of the rampant sexually transmitted infections that occur on and near military bases. It’s not something your recruiter will mention either.

I really can’t make it any more clear: Sex is a gift from God for the creation of life. You abuse that gift whenever you engage in sex solely for the pleasurable benefits. And what’s worse, you reduce the role of your spouse to a mere object of pleasure. Which is why the divorce rate among married couples who use condoms is hovering around 50%. Compare that to the 0.2% divorce rate among couples who use Natural Family Planning.

To use a phrase you’ll hear many times in the military, set yourself up for success. And quit looking for the easy solution because as an old Gunny Sergent once told me, “Ain’t nothing worth doing ever easy.”

Apparently you haven’t been made aware of what I am gonna do when I join up. I have to first go through basic, then specialized school, then air school. +I am gonna go out for the Army Boxing program. And to all to that, I am gonna get a degree in Military History.

Trust me, I know what you’ll be going through. And I know what sadly happens to a lot of good guys when they get that weekend pass.

Because sex is how you pray for children.

Using condoms or other birth control is like saying, “We want children, God. Whoops, just kidding!! Beat it, now, God, because we just want to have fun.”

Wouldn’t god know if your really wanting children or not?

Well, thats their choice.

Well, thats their choice.

Its appears you are one of those “Christians” who want to bend God to your will instead of obeying his will.
Next you will be telling us there is nothing wrong with homosexuality or abortion!

…I would respond to this, like I want to, but ignorance is bliss.

I am glad you know about me, I mean really, I didn’t know homosexuality or abortion was right, but what do I know. I mean, its just me, what would I know about myself?

Really, I don’t see any reason at all I shouldn’t love you as a brother in christ

Someone isn’t interested in what anyone else here has to say. It’s best to move on to a more worthy thread, IMHO.

um, if your addressing me, I’d like you to know, I do take offense to being called a non-christian when I am a christian.

Condoms, as petty as they are, are a symptom of a much larger disease. And that disease is moral relativism. If you make exceptions on one issue, eventually all you have are exceptions.

This was the Pandora’s Box that was opened with the mass distribution of “birth control”. It was announced as a way for men and women to have free choice in reproduction. And who doesn’t like more freedom? Unfortunately, man is a creature of excesses. Instead of using condoms only within marriage to prevent unwanted pregnancies, as they were originally intended and marketed, condoms became carte blanche for all manner of immoral and destructive behavior. And why not? If condoms can be used for one immoral behavior (reducing married partners to mere objects of sexual gratification), what difference does it make if they can be used used in other acts of immoral behavior (making anyone** objects of sexual gratification)?

You mentioned, in a way, free will. Man has that, no question. But, you seem to confuse free will with license. Remember that Christ invited all the world to worship and follow Him, but His is not a “come as you are” affair. Christ seeks change in us. To leave our sinfulness behind and seek holiness. This is what many Christians, Catholic and not, seem to forget. And I think you are forgetting it here. We should seek God’s will in our lives. We should stop trying to bend God’s will to fit our own sinful lifestyle.

When did I make a freakin exception? I am just saying it is a person’s choice. I am not gonna tell you that they can’t cause I’d be lieng. I never said I would, I just told you guys that my friends do, and that I cannot stop them.

I never tried to bend god’s will, you guys just accussed me of it.

You advocated the use of condoms within marriage, which is what they were originally marketed for. I explained why such an act is immoral, according to Catholic moral theology AND why the Church doesn’t make exceptions with such moral issues. This is where the bending of God’s will comes in. You may not want to see it that way, but your will is as free as that.

Nobody is accusing you of anything. You wanted clarification on the Church’s stance on the use of condoms. I think we’ve accommodated you. Your friends have a choice, as do you. It’s the Church’s moral obligation to point out when those choices are wrong. And we have the moral authority to do so.

I’ve been nothing but respectful to you.

I would expect a future soldier to show some bearing and maturity.

Pay attention in Basic Training. There’s much you have to learn.
