Question about engagement and wedding cost

If you go with simplicity it will cost you noting, if you want to display and express, it may cost arms and legs 🙂

What do you mean by mass books?

Now we need to go back and time and add something. 😂

I could be wrong but I think the PP means programs. You know - typically a small booklet that has the names of the bridal party, celebrant, altar servers, hymns, order of the Mass, etc.

Well…most people want to wow their guests and to give them a day to remember. Nobody wants a forgettable wedding day.
Bad weddings are actually more memorable.

I wasn’t there, but my cousin’s second wedding apparently had the following:

–teeny tiny wedding cake only big enough for bridal party
–practically no food
–not enough cups for drinks
–they had their reception outside the church and their chair rental apparently only lasted for an hour after the wedding
–my informant was SO happy that she and her family had gas station sandwiches before the wedding, because otherwise they would have starved.
–There were a couple of divorces in the family that made it all AWKWARD.
–But then maybe then it was a feature, not a bug to keep things so short?

Wet blanket alert: 😬
That seems to be a big thing now that didn’t even exist when I got married. Not really sure it’s actually needed. The bridal party is usually announced/introduced at the reception anyway. Guests are hopefully aware of what’s going on during the ceremony/mass. I guess it’s a memento of the wedding, but really, most people are going to throw them away, so…I wouldn’t bother with them.

Oh, programs! Got it.

Yeah, I printed those myself, too. Since my relatives aren’t Catholic we did have a general outline of the proceedings. Lutheran and Catholic church services follow a pretty similar schedule and prayers but a Lutheran wedding probably wouldn’t have Communion and the things that go along with it so we wanted to make sure those folks sort of knew what was going on (and that a full madd really doesn’t last THAT long 😆)

An old friend and her husband gave away decks of cards with their wedding date on it.

I used mine for quite a few years.

Thank you all for your answers. They are very helpful. I still welcome any more (name removed by moderator)ut from anyone reading this.

I plan to propose definitely within the next few months so I figure a wedding will be late this year around maybe beginning winter, late fall. That is if I get a “yes” answer. So there is still time to save money. I already have the money for a ring and I would be thrilled if i can keep my budget to under $10,000. In fact, that is the top amount I will pay, so budget set actually lol. I just, like a lot of people said, do not want to get into debt and I want a few grand still in the bank for emergencies. I most likely will be paying for everything myself because I do not come from a family with money, neither does she.

What are favors? Never heard of them.
