Well…not “by definition,” but she certainly should be, just as any non-married person should be. :o
Etymology: L caelibatus = caelebs, unmarried. A married person who never has sexual relations with her or his spouse is by definition not celibate.

Right…and an unmarried widow who has sexual relations is not celibate. Correct? Therefore, a widow is not “by definition” celibate until she remarries. She is “by definition” celibate, if she is not having sexual relations with anyone. 🤷

A widow is celibate because she is unmarried. A prostitute who is unmarried is celibate, no matter how much sex she is having. Priests or nuns are celibate even if their breach chastity. Regrettably, the difference between celibacy and chastity has become clouded in the popular understanding.

They will not cover me unless we are legally married.
As coach Vince Lombardi once said the first practice day after his Green Bay Packers suffered a humiliating defeat, “It’s time to get back to basics. This [holding up a football] is a football.”

“Coach,” Paul Hornung interrupted, “could you go a little slower?”

So it’s back to basics of society.

The Judeo Christian God is a God of order, not disorder. He created a natural order to help man do good, because man operates best in an ordered universe. Society is part of that universe.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics says in essence that the universe tends to go from order to disorder. The initial order is what we call Creation. As part of that universe, society also tends to go from order to disorder; that’s why man has a responsibility to keep it orderly. Modern liberal/Leftist ideas would accelerate the tendency to disorder. That’s why they are invariably bad.

Consider a society based on disorder: What if you went to your bank for some of your money, and the bank had arbitrarily decided it had none of your money? What if you bought a brand new car that didn’t run? What if you went to a gasoline station and they had filled their tanks with water instead of gas and said, “So sue us” when you found out what you pumped into your car was water, and what they did was not illegal? What if you came home and found your spouse cheating on you … in your own bed, and you could do nothing because adultery is not illegal? I could go on ad infinitum, but each one of these examples would produce outrage in anyone who was the victim because our whole society is based on trust created by order.

No matter what psychologists call it to make it sound normal and acceptable, sodomy and the sodomite lifestyle * is a gross disorder, and leads to more disorder, like high rates of suicide, illness, and low life expectancy. In short, it accelerates disorder. If you don’t believe that, then look at our subcultures built on sodomy, places sodomites carved out for themselves, places established solely for locating new sex partners, not places where long-lasting relationships and a just society could flourish. In fact, they have stated themselves that they do not desire monogamous relationships.

How can you have an ordered society in which no one can trust anyone else? Would you want to live in such a society? It doesn’t sound like it because you want health insurance that will turn an ill body [disorder] to a well body [order]. Order cannot come out of disorder. So stop advocating disorder.

"What started as a demand for basic civil rights has mutated into a Leftist demand to overturn the whole society, along with its traditions and norms, its standards and laws, its history and heroes.”*

It probably has more to do with the fact that celibate has two definitions. The most commonly used definition today, “abstention from sexual intercourse”, is basically the combination of the other definition of celibacy that you seem to prefer along with chastity.

However, if you wish to run around telling everyone that prostitutes are celibate, then feel free. 😛 It’s always much more fulfilling to win an argument based on semantics, rather than substance.

I feel like an 19th century dentist:D

In Matthew 19:12, Christ clearly commends those who, “for the sake of the kingdom of God”, have held aloof from the married state, though He adds: “he who can accept it, let him accept it”. St. Paul is even more explicit:
Code:
I would that all men were even as myself; but every one hath his proper gift from God .... But I say to the unmarried and to the widows, it is good for them if they so continue, even as I.
And further on:
But I would have you to be without solicitude. He that is without a wife is solicitous for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please God. But he that is with a wife, is solicitous for the things of the world, how he may please his wife: and he is divided. And the unmarried woman and the virgin thinketh on the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit. But she that is married thinketh on the things of this world how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your profit, not to cast a snare upon you, but for that which is decent and which may give you power to attend upon the Lord without impediment. ( 1 Corinthians 7:7-8 and 32-35)

While I am a devote of the archaic use of words, we must also bow to that which is current usage…

cel·i·bate (sl-bt)
n.
  1. One who abstains from sexual intercourse, especially by reason of religious vows.
  2. One who is unmarried.
    adj.
  3. Abstaining from sexual intercourse, especially by reason of religious vows.
  4. Unmarried; unwed.
[Latin caelibtus, from caelebs, caelib-, unmarried.]
Usage Note: Historically, celibate means only “unmarried”; its use to mean “abstaining from sexual intercourse” is a 20th-century development. But the new sense of the word seems to have displaced the old, and the use of celibate to mean “unmarried” is now almost sure to invite misinterpretation in other than narrowly ecclesiastical contexts. Sixty-eight percent of the Usage Panel rejected the older use in the sentence He remained celibate [unmarried], although he engaged in sexual intercourse.

I have been with my partner for 9 years. Our roommates have been together for about 15. I realize there is a culture of wanton sex, but none of my gay friends (And pretty much all of them are) do not participate in it. There is a huge hidden silent group if not majority of gay men and women who live this way. We go to work, we don’t wave our sexuality in your faces. We don’t wear it on our sleeve. We just go home to our partners. The only time anyone at work finds out that I am not straight, is if they start questioning me heavily.

The culture you are describing are a disturbed cohort. I do not deny their existence, but you can see the true root of their problems, in the fact they have so many of them.

Impulse control.

The fact they are wanton sexually, has nothing to do with their homosexuality. There is a huge section of the heterosexual population that is the same way. You can see the effects of such lifestyle in actors and actresses that implode due to them, and they’re not all gay. They’re addicted to everything. Sex, drugs, alcohol, anything, everything. They have basically no impulse control.

Do you know what causes so many gay kids to freak out and fall into this cycle? I admit, I almost did. My partner saved me from it.

Do you know why I fell into that pattern? When I came out as bisexual, my father screamed at me “You’re the reason straights have the f word AIDS. Get out! Get out of my house. Get out of my f word house, NOW!”

And so out onto the street I went.

Do you know how devastating that is to the psyche of a child? I was 17. When your own father does this, you have NOTHING. Everything is gone, nothing means anything, everything is gone, destroyed, obliterated.

Pathia, what a sad tale. Was your father a Christian?

So you are a transsexual who looks “straight”?

Yet why do EMTs refuse to treat you–based on what?

When you’re being treated for trauma, clothing is often cut off, or removed if you’re capable of removing it yourself. It doesn’t take more than a few microseconds to see what is between my legs.

I’m an EMT and an individual in Medical School… and I’ve never heard of that being a determining factor for treatment in any situation. While I’m not question your experience, I am saying it is quite outside the norm.

I didn’t know they had Episcopal and Pentecostal churches in Venice…or did you grow up on the Bayou? 😉
😃

I just mean we seemed to go back and forth, switching on the whims and/or logic of my parents will that I never really understood.

Read about Tyra Hunter. She died possibly, because of this sort of treatment. It depends on wear you live. I am by no means saying even remotely that this is the majority of the opinions of EMT’s and other emergency workers.

I lived in a very awful place for transsexuals then, I don’t live there now. I doubt any EMT where I am now would even bat an eyelash at me.

I knew what you meant…I just can’t help myself sometimes. :o 😛

See what I mean?

The longer an explanation takes, the less likely it is to be believed.

I bless all humor in my life and those that bestow it upon me. Sometimes I really need it!
I just need a rimshot smiley…with audio, preferably. We all need a good chuckle, especially with the serious topics we discuss on CAF.
