As already said, Paul is not referring to his own writings. And the writings of Paul?
Deal with it, Jesus is putting himself and his words above the scriptures. See for yourself, read the sermon on the mount.

The interpretation of 2 Timothy 3:16 has been taken to mean Sola Scriptura. This is wrong.Hi, James!
…I don’t follow… could you expand on your statement?

Hi, James! The interpretation of 2 Timothy 3:16 has been taken to mean Sola Scriptura. This is wrong.
I’m sorry but I am a Christian who doesn’t fall into the pick and choose mentality because I know that All scripture is important and I know that the Bible is not subject to personal interpretation without the Church teaching supporting it… If it were the case where we are deciding which words arent ‘useful’ in divine revelation we might as well start ripping pages out…shakes head… I believe the Words which say : All scripture is ‘useful’ and trust that the Bible is a Sacred Book not to be taken for granted…No that is a complete misconception, Karen107
Here is an example on “words in the bible” that are not “spirit and life” not from the Lord.
2 Timothy 4:13 “When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments”
1 Corinthians 7:12 “To the rest I say—I and not the Lord—that if any believer has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. And…”
2 Corinthians 11 “What I am saying in regard to this boastful confidence, I am saying not with the Lord’s authority …”
First and foremost, the words of Jesus are spirit and life. Then the words of the branches of Jesus (that are in Jesus, the true vine)
John 15:7 “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you”
John 17:8 “the words that you gave to me I have given to them”
John 17:14 “I have given them your word”
John 14:10 “The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works”
John 5:38 “you do not have his word abiding in you”
As I said, in the sermon on the mount, where he is quoting the scriptures.PNEUMA;14539030:

God is the author of Sacred Scripture, and the words of Jesus are in Sacred Scripture.
The Church most definitely support, that the words of Jesus, have special power.I’m sorry but I am a Christian who doesn’t fall into the pick and choose mentality because I know that All scripture is important and I know that the Bible is not subject to personal interpretation without the Church teaching supporting it… If it were the case where we are deciding which words arent ‘useful’ in divine revelation we might as well start ripping pages out…shakes head… I believe the Words which say : All scripture is ‘useful’ and trust that the Bible is a Sacred Book not to be taken for granted…
I repeat God is the author of Sacred Scripture. As I said, in the sermon on the mount, where he is quoting the scriptures.
Matthew 5:21 “You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you …”
Matthew 5:27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you …”
Matthew 5:33 “Again you have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you…”
Matthew 5:38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you …"
Hi Pneuma ask yourself why we would have bible study and theology classes and read two or three readings at Mass every day covering the bible front to back if ‘only’ the Words that Jesus said mattered? The Church most definitely support, that the words of Jesus, have special power.
Why do you think the priest say “this is my body” and “this is my blood” to the bread and wine ?
Nobody said that “only the Words that Jesus said mattered” What was said, was that his words are spirit and life, special life-giving words.Hi Pneuma ask yourself why we would have bible study and theology classes and read two or three readings at Mass every day covering the bible front to back if ‘only’ the Words that Jesus said mattered?![]()
