Question about truth of Mormonism

I have never known a Mormon family who didn’t have one or more members dependent upon their church membership for livelihood.

This is also what I’ve seen having been kindof, sortof, part of a rather large Mormon family for six years. I don’t attribute this to anything evil, though. I think it is just routine family networking. I’ve seen the same thing in other non-Mormon families.

Zerinus: Your replies to queries and direct questions is appalling. You sound like a robot: repeating time after time Mormon spin on their contradictory and obtuse wiggling about what constitutes Christian (id est, ‘Catholic’ or universal) scripture.

Look, either accept what others more learned and nearer to the events of Acts and Jesus’ earthly life spoke of and (in some but not all cases: thus the Tradition, or Magisterium of the Church) wrote, OR, start your own religion.

It worked for Mohammed, Ellen Gould White, Charles Taze Russell and Marcion. Marcion [who should be the patron anti-saint of perverse Christianity!] in about 140 AD started teaching that the Apostles had misunderstood Christ completely and that only St Paul (sometimes) and he himself (always) got it right. Have a familiar ring, Zerinus?

To support his heresy, he told his followers to use only ten of the Epistles of Paul [to which he added his own “prologue”] and St Luke’s Gospel. However, St Irenaeus wrote [all these documents have been authenticated for centuries and are available for research {unlike those golden tablets}] that “He moreover mutilated the Gospel according to Luke, removing all that is written about the generation of the Lord; and he removed much of the teaching of the Lord…He convinced his followers that he himself was more truthful than the Apostles who have handed down the Gospel; and he furnished them not with the Gospel but with a small part of the Gospel.”

Sound familiar, Zerinus?? It seems everybody wants to rule the world.

Let’s make this easy for all you LDS plants out there. Answer these questions and avoid the tautologies, please.

1. Why do Mormons build their buildings (Institutes of Religion) near colleges and universities in the same architectural style of those sites? (cf all UCs and Riverside Community College for examples; some Cal States such as Fresno and Fullerton)
2. Why do Mormons since the mid 1970s imitate Catholic liturgical language?
3. Why did Mormons build their Temple in Rome as near to the Vatican as possible?
4. Why did Mormons build their Temple in Santa Barbara in the Mission style and as close to the Diocesan cathedral (the Mission church) as possible?
5. Why do Mormons answer difficult, uneasy questions with phrases such as “milk before meat” and “burning in my bosom?”

Hey Zerinus, this is a start. Maybe some direct answers will start you on the path away from that non-Christian denomination.

Hey, if my bible had 4 gospels telling the same story, I wouldn’t be too eager to harp on the repetitive issue .

Mormonism is a very hot topic and when missionaries come to the door, they tell you the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the one true church. Along with this, they also tell you that the Book of Mormon is the ‘fullness to the everlasting gospel’. For those of you with a B.o.M. at home, please turn to Alma 7:10.
. For the people who don’t have one, it states:

“And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel…”

This verse was speaking of Jesus being born. Oddly enough, it says that he will be born at Jerusalem and as most people know, Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The Book of Mormon is claimed to be the Word of God. If it truly is, then I would think that the Word of God would be right and it would definately have the birthplace of the one the Mormon church emphasizes so much on(Jesus Christ), correct. And I truly do not think there is any way to justify this or make up an excuse. What could one possibly say? Joseph Smith MEANT Bethlehem…? Well if he had translated it from plates, I would think the plates would have had it right.So the main question is, if the Book of Mormon is untrue, then therefore the church would be untrue right? Just a thought and I would love to hear all and any comments on this.
