Stop! Just stop! Right now! Does not the Lord, God, Allah, or whatever you want to call Him want us to live in peace?

I am a Catholic. Plain and simple. The Church has given me salvation in the worst times of my life and has always comforted me. It truly is the greatest.

I am a Muslim but not in the way that I am Catholic. I am a true, pure Catholic, but I believe in Islam and I have read the Holy Koran and think it is a masterpiece and that Mohammed was a good man by nature.

The Lord, our God, our Allah, commands us to stop with this bickering and stop and instead fall upon our knees and worship Him and to pray to Him. Don’t you realize that this is the kind of stuff that causes religious tension and stops communication between two of the world’s greatest religions?
You’re a nutcase. And there is but ONE true religion, ONE Lord. All other religions are from the Devil, the Father of lies–and Islam is one of the biggest lies of the devil in the world today. Mohammad was a lunatic, an egomaniac, a liar and a son of the Father of lies. St. Adolphus (ora pro nobis!)–who was persecuted by Muslims under Muslim-controlled Spain–said, “Your false prophet Mohammad is in hell and his followers are in a state of perdition.” This was, in fact, the last thing he said before his head was chopped off by Muslims. Islam is a broad road leading directly into the fires of Hell. There is no peace for Muslim infidels in this life or the next until they renounce their errors, acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, Savior, and God, and are baptized into the fold of Christ, the apostolic Roman Catholic Church, outside of which is absolutely NO salvation, Amen!

spoken like a true fanatic 👍

No, I just want to spread peace and understanding around, buddy. 👍 I’m more of a devout Catholic than you, but I just understand where Muslims and Hindus and all the other religions are coming from.

I commend and endorse your attempt to spread peace and brotherhood but at the same time you must realize that the two religions teach things that are radically opposed to each other. They can’t both be true.

**Isaiah 53 The Suffering Servant **

“Who has believed what we have heard? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or comeliness that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man a sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. **But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, **and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgement he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off our of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? **And they made his grave with the wicked and a rich man man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the will of the Lord to bruise him; he has put him to grief; when he makes himself an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, he shall prolong his days, the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand; he shall see the fruit of the travail of his soul and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous; and he shall bear the iniquities. ** Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; **yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” **

Don’t you realize that this is the kind of stuff that causes religious tension
"Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: For thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.

( holy Quran, 16:125)"

I think Jamison27 is talking about the bickering, and and people arguing past each other, not the calm, reasonable discussion of beliefs that are spoken of in the verse you quoted from the Quran. If you want my two cents, I think everyone here has their minds pretty much made up about what truth is. When you argue about things written in different books that contradict each other, and all are supposedly unquestionable truth, the conversation will eventually just denigrate into people spouting verses from their truth, or mocking the other books, or both. What’s the point, really? I mean it’s entertaining to read the posts but still, it seems like the only thing that is accomplished by quoting your book of choice to prove its own veracity is mutual, spiteful aggravation. Still, if the OP wasn’t just trying to be sarcastic, I am curious as to the original question.

Peace

This is a debate. If you take it personally or are becoming unerved by the give and take, just skip the thread.

debate? Why debate about our religious preferences? Why don’t we, Christians, Muslims, Jews, get together and fall on our knees and worship God? Why debate when we can live in peace and harmony? What’s with the fussing and fighting? Does not all of our respective religions preach peace? Muslims, read the Sermon on the Mount. After doing so, tell us that our religion preaches peace. Christians, read verses from the Koran. You will find answers of peace in there.

This is the kind of **** that started The Crusades. We all are equal (Christians, Muslims, Jews) in the eyes of God, Allah, or Yahweh because all of us worship Him. Christianity is no better than Islam. Islam is no better than Christianity. Judaism is no better than either.
We all worship God.

What debate? The Op asked: “What is the single most remarkable prophecy that Mohammed made that was fulfilled?” Think we got a little off topic. Like I said before, I, for one, am interested in that question. Hasn’t really been discussed much though has it? I think Muslim Woman and Sister Amy took a stab at it a while back but that was about it. And not for nothing, but I get a real chat room circa 1997 kinda vibe from this thread, but a debate…maybe.

Jamison I kinda understand where you’re coming from, but try to relax a little. I really don’t think that this is how the crusades started. Please, calm down man.

sorry man. I’m just one of total nonviolence and I hate any type of fighting because they are wrong in the eyes of God.

3 or 4 of us were debating whether these predictions are accurate. I, for my part, pointed out that what people want to see as predictions that fit today, could fit just about any other time in history at some place in the world. (Women dressed, but undressed.)

Like Nostradamus’ predictions, people will make these predictions fit today, when it’s obvious that they can be interpreted to mean many things and can be fitted to just about any time in history.

If I predict that a metal object will fall with a great sound tomorrow, I can’t be wrong.

If a plane crashes, I’m right. If someone, anywhere in the world, drops a fork in his stainless steel sink, I’m right.

Make it vague enough and you can’t be wrong. 😉

I agree with you. So here are 2 prophecies that do not fit what you are describing.

Ask yourself honestly if these prophecies are “vague, could fit any other time in history?”

Fire from Hijaz (13th Century A.D.)**

Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established till a **fire **will come out of the land of Hijaz, and it will throw light on the necks of the camels at Busra.” (Bukhari, written in the 9th Century A.D.)

usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/hadith/bukhari/088.sbt.html

This “Fire” was a volcano which erupted in year 654 A.H from Medina. (The Muslim Calendar)

“Hijaz” is a specific reference to a small part of the Arabian Peninsula that includes Mecca and Medina. It meant that during the time of the Prophet(saw) and still today in Saudi Arabia is one of the provinces. “Busra” was a town in modern day Syria not to be confused with Basra of Iraq.

On page 32 of the translation of Ibn Kathir’s (a 13th Century Islamic Historian/Scholar)’s Al Bidayah Wal Nihayah (The Beginning and the End), translated as The Book of the End: Great Trials and Tribulations, he mentions it:

On Friday the 5th Jumaadah Al-Aakhira, 654 A.H., there appeared a fire in lands near Medinah An-Nabawiyyah, in some of its surrounding valleys. It extended four leagues lengthwise and four miles widthwide. Rocks would pour until they remained and like lead or molten tin, and then they became like black coals. By dint of the fire’s light, people were able to travel to Teemaa. The fire remained ablaze for an entire month. The inhabitants of Madeenah related this incident and some among them composed poetry about it. Qaadee Al-Qudaat, Sharud-Deen Alee ibn Al-Qaasim Al-Hanafee, said that the a Bedouin once told his father that on that night, he was in Busrah and that the people there saw the necks of camels from the light of that fire, which was ablaze in the land of Hijaaz.

Travels in Arabia, vol. 2, p, 217. The Swiss traveller was prevented by sickness from visiting it. The “Jazb al-Kulub” affords the following account of a celebrated eruption, beginning on the Salkh (last day) of Jamadi al-Awwal, and ending on the evening of the third of Jamadi al-Akhir, A.H. 654. Terrible earthquakes, accompanied by a thundering noise, shook the town; from fourteen to eighteen were observed each night. On the third of Jamadi al-Akhir, after the Isha prayers, a fire burst out in the direction of Al-Hijaz (eastward); it resembled a vast city with a turretted and battlemental fort, in which men appeared drawing the flame about, as it were, whilst it roared, burned, and melted like a sea everything that came in its way. Presently red and bluish streams, bursting from it, ran close to Al-Madinah; and, at the same time, the city was fanned by a cooling zephyr from the same direction. Al-Kistlani, an eye-witness, asserts that “the brilliant light of the volcano made the face of the country as bright as day; and the interior of the Harim was as if the sun shone upon it, so that men worked and required nought of the sun and moon (the latter of which was also eclipsed?).” Several saw the light at Meccah, at Tayma (in Nijd, six days’ journey from Al-Madinah), and at Busra, of Syria, reminding men of the Prophet’s saying, “A fire shall burst forth from the direction of Al-Hijaz; its light shall make visible the necks of the camels at Busra.” Historians relate that the length of the stream was four parasangs (from fourteen to sixteen miles), its breadth four miles (56? to the degree), and its depth about nine feet. It flowed like a torrent with the waves of a sea; the rocks, melted by its heat, stood up as a wall, and, for a time, it prevented the passage of Badawin, who, coming from that direction, used to annoy the citizens. Jamal Matari, one of the historians of Al-Madinah, relates that the flames, which destroyed the stones, spared the trees; and he asserts that some men, sent by the governor to inspect the fire, felt no heat; also that the feathers of an arrow shot into it were burned whilst the shaft remained whole. This he attributes to the sanctity of the trees within the Harim. On the contrary, Al-Kistlani asserts the fire to have been so vehement that no one could approach within two arrow-flights, and that it melted the outer half of a rock beyond the limits of the sanctuary, leaving the inner parts unscathed. The Kazi, the Governor, and the citizens engaged in devotional exercises, and during the whole length of the Thursday and the Friday nights, all, even the women and children, with bare heads wept round the Prophet’s tomb. Then the lava current turned northwards. (I remarked on the way to Ohod signs of a lava-field.) This current ran, according to some, three entire months. Al-Kistlani dates its beginning on Friday, 6 Jamadi al-Akhir, and its cessation on Sunday, 27 Rajab: in this period of fifty-two days he includes, it is supposed, the length of its extreme heat. That same year (A.H. 654) is infamous in Al-Islam for other portents, such as the inundation of Baghdad by the Tigris, and the burning of the Prophet’s Mosque. In the next year first appeared the Tartars, who slew Al-Mu’tasim Bi’llah, the Caliph, massacred the Moslems during more than a month, destroyed their books, monuments, and tombs, and stabled their war-steeds in the Mustansariyah College.

Here is the other one as I was not able to put both on one post. For this discussion, Usury and Interest are the same thing as was the classical opinion in Christendom which was changed over time.

Modern Day Usurious Banking System (20th and 21st Century A.D.)

Another prophecy is about the modern banking system that we have. Look at what the Prophet(saw) stated:

usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/abudawud/022.sat.html#022.3325

From Sunan Abu Dawood:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said:

A time is certainly coming to mankind when

only the receiver of usury will remain,

and if he does not receive it, some of its vapour will reach him

Ibn Isa said: Some of its dust will reach him.

There are logically three types of people:

A) Those that collect interest, the Usurers
B) Those that pay interest, the used who usually have no choice but to deal with interest (like in America, most people can’t own a house unless they take a mortgage)

Someone could be A and B as some people who take it also have to pay it.

C) Those that are not involved either way and live Debt Free and don’t take it from anyone either.

This situation is something that has only recently happened given the following new developments in the 20th century:
  • Central Banks of countries including the Federal Reserve System of U.S.A. where a Central Bank can increase and decrease the money supply by setting interest rates which affects production, consumption, inflation, deflation in the whole nation’s economy. Most countries before the 20th century did not have Central Banks. America did not have a Central Bank from the 1830’s to the 1900’s.
  • 3rd World Countries indebted to IMF and World Bank (these institutions were only set up after World War II). Many of the average people in these countries are not directly involved, but their Governments borrowing money which is squandered which affects them as the fruits of their labor are robbed by interest payments to the IMF and World Bank.
  • In the Post Ottoman world, the fact that Muslim countries who are forbidden from dealing with interest if they actually completely ruled by Shariah would not “allow” this prophecy to take place in their borders, but it’s happening not because “hey let’s deal in interest so the prophecy can come true,” but rather they have imitated the Non-Muslims. All the Muslims countries today have their economies running on interest.
  • Globalization such that what happens in one nation’s economy cannot have serious affects in the economies of other nations (think of the Great Depression of the 30’s and recent recession/depression).
Think about this prophecy carefully. Someone in the 7th century could not have understood how this could take place and could not have “fitted it for their time.”

How could this prophecy be “vaguely interpreted" when the Prophet(saw) said “a time is coming to mankind (not some individual person or nation)?”

Interest existed, but in no way did not exist to the scale that the Prophet(saw) was describing. Interest was banned during the time of Muhammad(saw) and Muslim countries did not deal in interest and even the Christian countries dealt with it only on a limited basis.

Yet today the whole world economy runs on interest such that what the bansksters who are the (“receiver of usury”) affects everybody (“its vapour/dust will reach him”) in society. Don’t you see this in the U.S. today with all the bank bailouts and how we “can’t let the banks fail” and how their bad loans corrupt the entire economy? Isn’t the “vapour/dust” of what the Prophet(saw) affecting you or someone you know?
