So did GOd want them to sin? What if Eve had eaten and Adam did not? Your conclusion is that God wanted evil in the world.

My answer is based on Scripture. It was free-will that made them eat of the tree, so that death entered the world by the Choice of one. It is through free will that Life came back: through the Choice of Jesus Christ. Do you not see the balance? How is this not scriptural?
What is your position on federal headship in Romans 5? Do you believe Adam is the representative of all mankind? Do you believe that the 2nd Adam is the representative of all those who believe?

Why can’t you answer his question?

What is your answer to your own question of "Did God want Adam and Eve to disobey Him and allow the Fall of Man?

I don’t have an answer based on the Scriptures. There are many things that are speculative in nature. I am content to leave some things as mystries which belong to God. You will not get all the answers on this side of glory.

Deuteronomy 29:29

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

The reason you won’t answer is that either answer destroys the false dogma known as Calvinism.

Boy… you are a tough one. Even Catholic theoligians don’t have all the answers. Being a sola scriptura guy, I try not to go beyond what is written. Only Catholics can go beyond what is written in the Scriptures.

Edwin, we deal with demonization constantly. Catholics are the most demonized people, and our Church is the most demonized entity on earth. Why? Who is the original source of the opposition to her? We get sick and tired of the arrogance. Of the error, lies, deceit. In my case, it shows.

Who declared scripture to be scripture in the first place? Satan’s greatest triumph was to separate the canon of scripture from the God-given authority which canonized it. The beginning of the end came at that moment. As reasonable as your voice usually is, you cannot be neutral on this either. I do not pretend to be neutral or unbiased.

My responsibility is to put forth the revealed truth as I am able, not ego-pleasing error whose origin is the demon.

The demon divides. The Holy Spirit unites.
The most demonized? I highly doubt it.

Your doctrine paints you into a corner.

There is only one answer. Either way, Calvinism is exposed as false.

Even if that’s true, why deal it out in return?

It makes no sense.

Honestly, I am not sure what you are asking. If you are asking if it is possible for men who accept Christ to sin, I say yep. If you are asking if we are restored to a right state with God through Christ, I say yep.

If you are saying that those who elect can never, ever sin again, I say nope.

Reformed;4315542:
Yes or no.

Which one fits with Calvinist doctrine?

Did God want Adam and Eve to Sin?
I don’t represent Christians who are also considered a Calvinists. That is a big diverse group. I do not go to the Calvninst’s website for an answer, I personally go to the Scriptures. As a Christian, I don’t know the answer to your question because I cannot find a definite answer in Scripture to answer it. God allowed it, didn’t He? I know through the Scriptures, that God does everything for His own glory.

Does the Roman Catholic Church teach federal headship where Adam is the representative for all mankind? I know you guys believe in original sin. Does the RCC teach that the 2nd Adam (Jesus) is the representative for all those who have trust and faith in Jesus Christ. This is taught in Romans 5 and 1 Cor 15. Paul talks about being in Christ or united to Christ throughout the NT.

Then answer from your own personal interpretation.

If your dogma brings to to an unanswerable point, then what does that say about your dogma.

We might not know the answer to this question, but it must be either yes or no.

Again, I am not sure what you mean. Are you saying that it is impossible for the elect to sin?

Roman Catholicism allows breathing room for mutually exclusive private interpertations on many issues. You don’t have to answer yes or no on all the issues.

No, I believe Romans 7 is the experence of all Christians. That is why we grown for our new bodies. All Christians are sinners in process.

Hehehe … this separates the church and the scripture, which is nuts.
Well, then the Catholic Church is nuts. Because the Catholic Church says explicitly in Dei Verbum both that Scripture is the Word of God (though not the only form in which the Church has access to the Word of God) and that the Church is the servant of the Word of God. Which agrees with Hodge’s point.
The church existed before the NT.
Again, irrelevant. Once any book is inspired and recognized by the Church as such, that book, as part of Scripture, has authority over the Church.
The witness that protected the truth before anything was written, protected the truth after it was written, and protected the truth to be able to state which writings were of the truth.
No disagreement, and again, not countering Hodge’s point.
The church is not merely a witness to the scriptures, it is a witness to TRUTH, even before the scriptures existed, and as the pillar and bulwark of the truth has the God-given guidance and authority to teach that truth.
The claim that the Church is infallible in its teaching is a claim that must be discussed on its own merits (and very carefully defined–the claim in official Catholic teaching is a fairly narrow one, but from your rhetoric one would not know that). It does not automatically follow from the fact that we know Scripture by the Church’s testimony. That is Hodge’s point. And I think it’s a valid one, although his earlier arguments (attempting to make this point unnecessary except as backup) are not.
