I actually think Steve has a point here. While I respect and admire the dedication to proclaiming truth in this forum please realize it’ll take more than a hard slap on the hand to convince our visiting mormon friends to join us in believing that the ‘truths’ they hold so dear are almost entirely erroneous and most assuredly manmade (which is the common non-mormon stance among Christians and vice versa).

There are definetly times where we must be tougher in our method of evangelization, but this time around I think our zeal for truth might actually be pushing people away from honestly investigating further for answers in the Catholic religion. Remember that there are sensitive eyes out there. Try to think about those who are already doubting their faith, but still need a little push in the right direction. If they come to these forums how can they focus on the great soundness of our Catholic doctrine when all they can do is emotionally respond to how mean so and so is to other mormons just like them! We’re setting up a diversion unknowingly that will only attract negativity. A little more love will make the Holy Spirit’s job much easier 🙂

I’m not necessarily saying anyone is purposely being mean or rude. But what I am sayimg is that we are conducting ourselves in a way that is too easy to be termed as such. Remember that there is a real, complex and whole convicted individual on both sides of the computer screen.

Even if mormonism is not the correct religion, it doesn’t mean it won’t be a painful thing for people to hear. Those of you who have converted from mormonism should know that stronger than anyone else! Lets respect that pain, because it is a transformational tool in which God pulls us closer to the truth. I don’t ever want a questioning mormon forum lurker to discount the Catholic religion because they’re able to tell themselves that Catholics are just too mean! Those forum lurkers may just be my loved ones who I’ve recommended this site to >__<"

That being said, to any mormon friends reading this thread, please think positively of our Catholic conviction! Challege us for the reasons behind the strength of our faith as we will challenge you for the reasons behind yours. And if things get a little spirited, lets both sides work to debate, communicate and teach in a more positive, respectful and Christ-filled manner. Amen.

God bless and sorry for the unessecary length.

. . . .I certainly didn’t anticipate causing all of this and meant to offend no one. AlI I was doing was trying to urge a more charitable response, not hold back on the truth.
Steve,
There is nothing wrong with urging more charitable responses (I need that reminder often 😃 ); and I have never seen you hold back truth–I fully realize that would never be your intention.

Peace and blessings,
Anna

That also reminds my bryce33. What do you think of me? Im a dark skinned person? Am I the seed of cain? Will I not enter the highest levels of Heaven because God is a racist?
Mormons don’t believe that. It’s just wrong to pretend they do. It’s hateful. Criticize them for changing their doctrine if you want, but stop lying about what their doctrine actually is.

They may not believe it NOW…(though, having lived in Utah and Idaho, I can say that many still do)…but it WAS doctrine. The horrible racist comments of their leaders is public record. The only reason they saw the light was due to financial concerns.

I think you need to do a little research (if you havent already, but I think you havent) and see what their doctrine says. And what is your problem? Why is it at every turn you defend these people? Ive lived here in Utah for 20+ years (I see you live here too) and was for a brief time, a mormon too (till I learned what they really believe). Im getting mad now so ill quit before I get banned for going off on you

If they dont believe it now, would that make them non believers of their own faith Texan?

Perhaps.

What it really says is that the LDS Church Doctrine and teachings is subject to polls and finances.

Do Catholic’s on this forum have a right to express their opinion without intimidation?

“If” what has been said here is wrong, none of our mormon posters, or those defending mormonism have provided any proof.

Just saying something is not true, or a lie, without anything to back it up is nothing but rhetoric.

Well, there is a lot of disagreement even among Catholics on this forum. Read through some of the other threads and you might be surprised at how high-spirited they can be!

I am re-posting some of the questions I have asked you before that must have gotten buried beneath all of the other posts:

“We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see” (Teachings, pg. 345).

We do need more than this because you are hanging all of your beliefs on a quote from a man named Joseph Smith instead of the words of Jesus Christ. Jesus established a Church that He promised would never fall away and you are following a different church.
  1. Who is right - Joseph Smith or Jesus Christ?
If God wanted there to be 100 or 1,000,000+ persons in one God then it would be possible.
He chose the Trinity and revealed it in the life of Jesus Christ as we read in scripture.
2. Why question it?

Quote:
“Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.” (D&C 93:29)
  1. Does this come from any other source other than the revelations of Joseph Smith?
  2. It seems that the BoM has a more traditional view of the Trinity than current LDS teaching- why is that?
For example, Alma 11:44, Mosiah 15:5-7, and 2 Nephi 31:21.
Also, in The Testimony of Three Witnesses at the beginning of the BoM, it says: “And the honor be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, which is one God. Amen.”
thanks!
