I actually think Steve has a point here. While I respect and admire the dedication to proclaiming truth in this forum please realize it’ll take more than a hard slap on the hand to convince our visiting mormon friends to join us in believing that the ‘truths’ they hold so dear are almost entirely erroneous and most assuredly manmade (which is the common non-mormon stance among Christians and vice versa).
There are definetly times where we must be tougher in our method of evangelization, but this time around I think our zeal for truth might actually be pushing people away from honestly investigating further for answers in the Catholic religion. Remember that there are sensitive eyes out there. Try to think about those who are already doubting their faith, but still need a little push in the right direction. If they come to these forums how can they focus on the great soundness of our Catholic doctrine when all they can do is emotionally respond to how mean so and so is to other mormons just like them! We’re setting up a diversion unknowingly that will only attract negativity. A little more love will make the Holy Spirit’s job much easier
I’m not necessarily saying anyone is purposely being mean or rude. But what I am sayimg is that we are conducting ourselves in a way that is too easy to be termed as such. Remember that there is a real, complex and whole convicted individual on both sides of the computer screen.
Even if mormonism is not the correct religion, it doesn’t mean it won’t be a painful thing for people to hear. Those of you who have converted from mormonism should know that stronger than anyone else! Lets respect that pain, because it is a transformational tool in which God pulls us closer to the truth. I don’t ever want a questioning mormon forum lurker to discount the Catholic religion because they’re able to tell themselves that Catholics are just too mean! Those forum lurkers may just be my loved ones who I’ve recommended this site to >__<"
That being said, to any mormon friends reading this thread, please think positively of our Catholic conviction! Challege us for the reasons behind the strength of our faith as we will challenge you for the reasons behind yours. And if things get a little spirited, lets both sides work to debate, communicate and teach in a more positive, respectful and Christ-filled manner. Amen.
God bless and sorry for the unessecary length.
