Hi,

I just wanted to clarify something about your beliefs… how do you believe that a person is forgiven of sin? Do you pray for forgiveness? and what makes forgiveness possible?

Thank you 🙂

Undoubtedly, Muslims do not believe in forgiveness, since they stone the sinner to death?

how do you believe that a person is forgiven of sin?
No one can be sure about forgiveness but generally if someone does good deeds then that person believes he/she has been forgiven.
Do you pray for forgiveness?
That can be added to the deeds.
and what makes forgiveness possible?
Good deeds, praying, and Allah’s mercy on the judgement day, moreover, on the judgement day the Muslim’ good deeds has to outweigh the bad deeds else that person will enter Hell.
(Quran 101:6-11):
*Then as for him whose measure of good deeds is heavy, He shall live a pleasant life. And as for him whose measure of good deeds is light,His abode shall be the abyss. And what will make you know what it is? A burning fire. *
فأما من ثقلت موازينه فهو في عيشة راضية وأما من خفت موازينه فأمه هاوية وما أدراك ما هيه نار حامية

Repentence. That’s how a person obtains forgiveness–through repentance. Sincere repentance.

Do I pray for forgiveness? Absolutely, and frequently, many times a day. اللهم اغفر لي و ارحمني – O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me.

And what makes forgiveness possible? Allah accepts our repentance, and is Merciful:

Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those - I will accept their repentance, and I am the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (التوّاب الرحيم)

So you don’t believe in punishment, then? Let all the criminals out of jail?
A father has the ability to harm his child when he disobeys him, but does he do so? Is that the proper way to educate our children not to overstep the boundaries we set for them?

How do you live with a God who is both merciful and vengeful?

I don’t understand your post. To be honest, it sounds kind of canned and not relevant–could you explain how it answers my question?

Well God said to stone people to death in the Bible, didn’t He?
Old Testament yes… New Testament NO…!!!

And yet,** there is NO stoning verse/passages in the koran**,… so why do muslims/islam still stone people in the 21st century…

There will be some poor reason for this.

Hi Amy,

We both believe that Allah is a God of justice. That being the case, it wouldn’t be just on God’s part for Him to accept a man’s finite penance for the infinite offence committed…

God bless,

I don’t stone anyone.

God bless,
Why not? Isn’t that precisely what Mercy is?

Mercy means showing compassion to another, but that does not include lying to oneself. If God forgives a sinner without the proper justice being served, he would be lying to His own integrity. God cannot lie to Himself.

God bless,

God bless,
Why is it lying? Can’t God do whatever He wills?

Why all the calls throughout the Bible for people to repent if there’s no hope of forgiveness?

:console: Because it’s in authentic hadiths:

**Sahih Muslim, Book 017, Number 4192: **
“'Ubada b. as-Samit reported that whenever Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) received revelation, he felt its rigour and the complexion of his face changed. One day revelation descended upon him, he felt the same rigour. When it was over and he felt relief, he said: Take from me. Verily Allah has ordained a way for them (the women who commit fornication),: (When) a married man (commits adultery) with a married woman, and an unmarried male with an unmarried woman, then in case of married (persons) there is (a punishment) of one hundred lashes and then stoning (to death). And in case of unmarried persons, (the punishment) is one hundred lashes and exile for one year.
(E)

Sahih Muslim, Book 017, Number 4193:
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Qatada with the same chain of transmitters except with this variation that the unmarried is to be lashed and exiled, and the married one is to be lashed and stoned. There is neither any mention of one year nor that of one hundred.
(E)

Does finite penance offered by man satisfy the infinite offense to God Yes/No?

The Israelites were called to penance to remain in God’s grace to become and remain a holy nation. They by no means were allowed to enter Heaven until justice had been served which is exactly why Jesus Christ is the only one who is capable to pay the debt we couldn’t afford to pay.

God bless,
