Keep sexual pleasure for marriage (all of it), get a hobby to make sure your time is filled–while at it, perhaps pick a hobby that will enrich you as a person (cultural hobbies) or directly improve your marriage potential (whatever makes you more attractive to the opposite sex) or the ways in which you can provide or take care of your family (something that improves your resume, contacts, social network etc… or working out, learning martial arts, learning to cook, repair things, cultivate a garden etc.).

But don’t become a workaholic and don’t develop the I Have No Time Disease.

, I have to confess envy instead of being grateful to God for his many blessings to me. Please help - thanks!!
Confess envy. Thanks for pointing that out. I think I should start doing that.
One I find is that after a long day of being involved in something hobbyish, I find myself facing the blunt reality that the only reason I did it was to distract myself from being alone.
I though I was the only person whose main goal in planning things was not to get to do them but to avoid being alone. Nice to know I am not alone. And to be honest, it is getting very tiring.

It’s bad in the 20’s…

Either my peers have married right out of college (so for several years now) or they are the kind of people who just want to party and have fun and not think about marriage. Either way, I’m the outcast. I want to live a responsible life but not be the only one not married.
I can understand. A brief check of my memory brings to mind four couples getting married ages 20-24 along with five couples in the same age range (including a girl I still like but who’s now dating). It bothers me at times but I try not to let it. I try to stay happy in this state as I pray and wait for my spouse.

But yes, even at this age it can be hard because you feel left-out and, in my case, sometimes begin to think something’s wrong with you. I’m lucky in that my closest friends are close to me and they don’t seem obsessed with dating so I do have a group to fit into with.

Overall the best way to deal with this is to keep praying for yourself and your future spouse.

I also agree with the statement that hobbies only go so far. After awhile you feel lonely not having anyone to share the joys of your hobby with. Yes friends are always there but it’s nice to have someone you’re intimate with to share the joys with.

I’m 25 and I have been dating the man I want to marry for 4 years now. There is stuff in our lives that are preventing us from getting married and it has been very frustrating for me personally. (He’s not avoiding it by any means) I would love to get married and start a family— I think the greatest blessing for a woman is to be able to raise a family and be at stay at home mom. But I’m thankful that I am able to put a lot of my time and energy into my profession and enjoy the company of my boyfriend too. I know that if I had my own children I would not have enough time to be a teacher or do a lot of the things I’m enjoying right now with my boyfriend. Priorities would change for me, as they have done in the past: I use to have more time to do online ministry things but once I started teaching that basically had to stop-- I know with a husband and with children, ALL my time online would be non-existent.

God gives us blessings regardless of if we’re married or single— He might be asking you to find peace with the blessings you have as a single person before He sends the right person into your life.

Thank you, Angelic Rose! Your situation sounds very similar to mine, but you accept it with such peace. I am trying to learn peace and patience. Thanks for the inspiration!
