They’re not sinful under many protestant denominations. Much more progressive. That’s the reason why most people are not Catholic or aren’t practicing catholics.

Pre-Marital Sex and Contraception

Hmmm…Do these rules actually affect which church people go to?

My brother tells people that he converted to Catholicism so he could drink all of the beer he wanted without any guilt. (Our childhood church denomination doesn’t forbid alcohol, but it isn’t socially acceptable by our church or family.) He and his wife use contraception, but go to Mass every week.

But really I think very few people change denominations because of the moral decisions they choose for their lives.

Like most Protestant Churches it depends on the ones you go to. Some big denominations like the baptists probably have smaller churches that have that. I found this article of a minister who was for premarital https://www.religionnews.com/2016/07/21/sex-outside-of-marriage-can-be-holy-according-to-this-minister/. If you consider the Unitarian Universalist Christian, they allow premarital sex.
Christian by definition is Trinitarian. I don’t know if they are or not.
I suspect there may be some who think that way. I doubt these are the reasons why most remain in the communion they are in, anymore than bring allowed to drink or play bingo are reasons people use to be or become Catholic

A lot of people choose a different denomination because of what a pastor says. If the pastor is preaching about the evils of homosexuality, porn, and sex then most people are leaving to find another church.

The UUC is what I call religion salad. No creed, no unifying principle, no singular agreement on what they actually believe. Throw anything in there and it works in the bowl (hence my poor salad analogy). And definitely not Trinitarian. But some members might be, so it’s hard to say.

I mean no disrespect to UUC members, I promise. It just seems disorganized to me.

I’m not a wiki fan, but this is interesting.

It strikes me as organized, almost agnostic nondenominationalism.

Lol I’m clearly not a theologian. 😂😂😂

It kinda is. It started out as a traditional Christian denomination but it branched out in the 60s. Its really everything im looking for except one thing.

priests in general deal with anything in their sermons, instead of explaining the wonderful relations in the themes of the readings - But seeing it well, what could a priest do with people who have no idea of the Bible, as is the case with the vast majority of Catholics
Sadly I must agree that the majority of homilies I have heard leave me wanting. In fact, the reason I left the CC when I was a youth was that I was craving for Scripture. I was introduced to Scripture by some Baptist peers at school. I had never read the Bible or even been encouraged to do so (except for my Methodist Grandmother) and was yearning to know Jesus better. I thought that the CC "hid’ the “gospel” from me, and was lapsed for 20+ years.

Since returning to the faith into which I was Baptized, I miss the music/singing, and I miss those bible studies! I miss good preaching.

I realize that Protestants do not realize that most contraceptions are abortifient so embrace the killing of babies as a result, but I have never heard of any Prostestants that affirms pre-marital sex! Can you give me a link to study?

So, what is your evidence for this? What is your source of information?

No, but it’s just quiet obvious. Sex and sexual abuse are the two main reasons people leave. It’s so outdated. If the Church took proper responsibility for their past failings and became more progressive in all the right ways then more people would stay.
