When receiving in hand, do you first make eye contact with the individual distributing Holy Communion and then shift your focus to the Host, or do you focus on the Host the entire time without ever making any eye contact? Thank you.

I usually make eye contact first, but I’ve done it both ways.

Usually eye contact first, for as long as the brief scripted dialogue lasts. Then switch to the host. Why do you ask?

I bow first, then look at the Priest but don’t always make eye contact then I look at the host. Most priests I go to mass with know me so they will say “Matt (or Matthew), the Body of Christ.” So I look at the priest when he says my name then look at the host.

But it’s not like it’s sinful to look at the host first or the priest, don’t overthink it lol

I believe that in the visions of Blessed Anne Emmerich, Communion at the Last Supper was on the tongue.
Private revelation is, well, private revelation.

Anyway, yes, I first make eye contact with the EM.

Er … sorry friend, but evidence?

Observation… Having an excommunicated man as your profile pick is interesting for a Catholic.

Testimony from a controversial auxiliary bishop from modern times does not constitute evidence. Just another opinion.

And, yes, Lefebvre was most certainly excommunicated… hopefully he repented before his death.

What part was disrespectful? You put up a video of Bishop Schneider on how to receive communion and don’t expect anyone to point out the obvious? You shouldn’t use the words of others as an appeal to authority then.

To the OP, I always keep my head bowed. In fact, the reason I receive in my hand is that it seems more reverent to keep my head lowered as I approach the Holy Sacrament.

I’ll take the Vatican over some traditionalist Wordpress site…

Ha… citing the Church’s position on it isn’t good enough for you?

What’s the sense?

This topic will soon be closed just because a member derailed from the original question to attack another member… so sad.

This mess started in post 5 with the “my way is better that your way” stuff. That sort of school yard shenanigan is never profitable. What one bishop says is not relevant out side his diocese in areas of discipline. They Catholic Church allows, in the case of the OP to receive in his hand. That should be enough for any traditional, orthodox and faithful Catholic. Period. Mama said it’s okay and she’s in charge.

Accept or reject Her authority. But if one does accept the authority of the Church, then one should tend to one’s own row, do what is best for his own spiritual growth, and desist in telling other faithful Catholics how to better be faithful Catholics.

Again, I receive in the hand because I find it more reverent. That should suffice.

People on CAF have Catholic and non-Catholic profile pictures, there’s even a member with a Buddhist image here, and I never saw anyone here complaining over these small things.
If his profile pic is Archbishop Lefebvre, what’s the problem?
