Question for those that receive Holy Communion in hand?

One thing I don’t do anymore is pluck it out of my hand with my fingers. It goes straight from palm to mouth.

And? I have a Sikh cat in mine. It’s all good. AB Lefebvre is passed on and all he did and is in the hands of God alone.

I did it the traditional way this evening because most of the people at the Friday evening Mass I selected do it that way and I do not want to break the priest’s rhythm. That to me is most important to avoid mishaps.

People on CAF have Catholic and non-Catholic profile pictures, there’s even a member with a Buddhist image here, and I never saw anyone here complaining over these small things.
If his profile pic is Archbishop Lefebvre, what’s the problem?
I didn’t complain… just made an observation … I find it weird that’s all. Being excommunicated is a big deal as I see it. Buddhists aren’t excommunicated… I think excommunicated is a little worse actually…

This mess started in post 5 with the “my way is better that your way” stuff.
Actually I think it started when the “Jesus never did that way” theory was brought by.
Also complaining about profile pics makes things more… personal.

I wish we did still do it the traditional way. Communion in the hand mean the risk of dropping it. And what if your hand is not as clean as you thought?

Now who’s making personal attacks?

Pretty sad… 😞

…Are you saying your tongue is cleaner than your hand? If it’s about germ/bacteria profiles you could always just encourage people to lick their hand before receiving in the hand because then at least the hand will be like a leveled up tongue: tongue germs/bacteria + hand germs/bacteria/dirt = more of God’s creation all in one place.

I do receive on the tongue by the way, but the whole “your hands are dirty” argument has always felt silly to me. It seems to imply that your mouth is clean. If you want to argue prudence for mouth vs hand stick to “there could be crumbs on the hand”, “someone could walk away with it without consuming it easier”, or “it’s possible to fumble/drop when picking up”. Not that I find those compelling either if the person and priest take care. Plus, in the end the Church says it’s fine so that’s good enough for me.

This is like the religious equivalent of the atheist neckbeard on Reddit.

You’ve been here for like two weeks, dude. How about you chill with the pompous, condescending sarcasm and pedantic Latin flourishes? Maybe that’s not the best tone to start off with?

I direct you back to the topic. It was a question for those that receive Holy Communion in hand. It is better to start you own thread than to jump in and steal someone else’s. I will not respond to all your logic errors here.

This topic will soon be closed just because a member derailed from the original question to attack another member… so sad.
So true…

Please, please stop derailing this helpful (to me at least) thread by turning it into a hand/tongue debate. Please…

I believe that in the visions of Blessed Anne Emmerich, Communion at the Last Supper was on the tongue.
Her revelations were not even written by her and the Church has not approved them suspecting they are fraudulent.

Your profile lists “Christian” as your religion.

Are you Catholic? If not, why are you concerned about whether or not to make eye contact when receiving Holy Communion in the hand?

If you are Catholic, carry on.

Personally, when I receive in the hand, I have no idea whether or not I make eye contact. I never even think about it. 🤔

Yeah, when I receive on the hand I can’t actually remember if I make eye contact either. I think I might make eye contact while Father is saying “The Body of Christ”, but honestly I don’t know. Now this question has me sitting here trying to replay all the times I’ve received on the hand and figure out what my normal actions are. 😂

Actually, when you create a topic here, you never know how it will end…

For some, yes.
Usually the topic becomes just a quick and interesting chat with different opinions and good arguments on both sides.
Sometimes it turns into a good and old saloon brawl.
