WELCOME HOME JM!!! At work today we got some awful news and everyone was so distraught. At lunch I thought I’d check out things here and when I read your latest BIG NEWS it brought tears to my eyes too, lots of them. I went off to eat and just Thanked G-d for all his goodness and love. I’m so happy for you. Also, I thought CARose’s suggestions on post #614 were really good and worthy of a print out!! It’s darned good advice to keep in mind…and not just for the talk with the local priest, but for any important discussion. I’m glad to hear about your French test too. Will you go back home for the summer? or are you at home? Can you continue with the RCIA folks there through the summer?
Thank you! I’m glad the thread gave you some joy today! As for me, I’m fortunate. My university is only a one hour drive from where I live, so I’ll be able to stay right here at this parish and with these RCIA people throughout the summer. G-d is good! I’ve already started making friends there. OIne of my friends from the parish called me tonight in fact, just to see how I was doing. We ended up staying on the phone for an hour! 😃

Jew_Man_73,

The sacrifice of the Mass is a fulfllment of the prophet Malachi’s prophecy.

“For from the rising of the sun, even to its setting, my name is great among the nations; And everywhere they bring sacrifice to my name, and a pure offering; For great is my name among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.” (Malachi 1:11)

Every single day, from the rising of the sun to its setting, the Holy Catholic Church is offering up the sacrifice of the Mass in all four corners of the globe. Oh, the Lord is so faithful to his promises!

Thank you. I appreciate your post. I’m going to surf some Catholic websites and read up on the Eucharist.

Hi everybody,

This might be a stupid question, but considering my newfound beliefs, should I change my screen name? I really don’t want to, because I’m proud to be a Jew. I’m also proud to be a Jewish believer in Yeshua Ha Moshiach and to honor His mother the Virgin Miriam. (I’m not going to call myself Catholic just yet. I know I really can’t do that until I’m confirmed.) What do you all think?

PS: Maybe I could add one of those tag line things (Like the one hlgomez has) at the bottom of all my posts. Something that states my faith in Yeshua. I don’t know how to do that, though. Can anyone help?

I think…
Go under profile (top of screen) and then “Edit Signature” (top option listed on the left).

As for your name… only you can decide. There are a lot of people on here now that know and love you as Jew_Man_73 though. 🙂

Brother in Christ,
I’d like to reccomend a book by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI!) called “God is Near Us: The Eucharist, The Heart of Life.” I’ve not read it myself, but my girlfriend and other friends from the Newman-Stein fellowship at Gonzaga have and strongly recommend it. The excerpt found here is enough to make me want the whole thing. ignatiusinsight.com/features/ratzinger_godisnearusjuly04.asp I’m terribly sorry that I can’t post more on the matter at the moment, but I’ve got a concert to run off to!

In Christ,
-Gavin-
I’ve almost read all of it and it’s a wonderful book! I think it would be a great primer for JM, if there’s room to add one more book to his growing list I’m sure! It’s not big, it will be a quick read for you, JM…
JM, you may also want to look into some of the saints’ stories, as they will figure into the confirmation process. 😃
Two that come to mind are Maximillian Kolbe and Edith Stein bc of your heritage. I’m sure others may have suggestions if you’re interested.

Thanks for the help. You have a good point, too. Maybe a tag line stating my faith would be best. 🙂

Thanks, I plan to get the book by Pope Benedict XVI soon. And I’m going to start searching for a book about Edith Stein. I’ve heard alot about her, and I really want to read her story. I also feel drawn to Mary Magdalene as well. I don’t know why, but I’d like to find a good book about her too.

Thank you! It’s great to be home! I have a sense of fulfillment that I never had in the Jewish faith. (Or should I say, the incomplete Jewish faith! 😃 )

My immediate plans are to go through RCIA. I also plant o reach out to my Jewish friends, even though two of them now refuse to associate with me. I’m praying for them.
