Question from a Seeking Jew

Just one more thing, brothers and sister, before I go to bed:

When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go and anoint him. Very early when the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb. They were saying to one another, ‘Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’ When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back; it was very large. On entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed. He said to them, ‘Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him. But go and tell his disciples and Peter, He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you.’

There is something that I want to say very badly. I believe that the time has come for me to post it here, on this thread. After researching the Church, praying, talking on here, reading the Gospels, and talking to my two priest friends:

I BELIEVE THAT YESHUA IS THE FULFILLMENT OF ALL THE PROPHECIES IN THE TANAKH. I BELIEVE THAT HE WAS CRUCIFIED, DIED, AND ROSE ON THE THIRD DAY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ME WITH ETERNAL LIFE WITH G-D. I BELIEVE THAT HE WAS BORN TO THE VIRGIN MIRIAM, AND THAT SHE HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HEAVEN AND WATCHES OVER ALL THOSE WHO LOVE HER. I BELIEVE THAT YESHUA AND MIRIAM LOVE ME, AND WANT ME TO SPENT ETERNITY WITH THEM AND G-D IN HEAVEN.

My hands were shaking like crazy as I typed this!
i can imagine!!!

Thank you! I can’t adequately express what I’m feeling right now! I’m going to try to sleep tonight, but I doubt that I’ll be able to. I feel more awake and more alive than I’ve ever felt in my life!

Wow, I must say this all brought tears to my eyes. You are truely fortunate, Jew_Man_73, because you get to see the Messiah for the fullness of what He is, in a way that even many Catholics do not get to fully appreciate. He is not some foreign, Gentile creation, He is the Jewish Moshiach, as you have said, and we are all brought into the Kingdom of God through His work and sacrifice. You are not an outsider at the table of strangers, but a guest of honor 😃
As I was praying, I felt someone wrap their arms around me, as if I was being hugged. Actually, that’s exactly what it felt like. A big, but gentle, hug. I felt a sense of peace and calm come over me. It’s really weird, but I felt warm too. Not a hot, unpleasant warmth, but a relaxing, comforting warmth. I don’t know how long I felt this, but it was a while. A minute or two maybe.
Now it gets REALLY WEIRD. I swear this is what happened next. I smelled roses. Sweet smelling roses. It was beautiful. Then I heard a woman say, “Romans 8.”
I absolutely believe you, and I will tell you something else: your experience is not at all unique, espescially for Jews who come to the Church. In fact, such visitations are almost widespread (relatively speaking, by population) among Jewish Catholics. If you haven’t already checked it out, I must recommend you pick up “Salvation is from the Jews” ASAP, as it describes the “completion” stories of a number of famous Jews, and you will see that Yeshua and Miriam espescially have a history of personally reaching out and giving that final “push”.

I think they understand the difficulty that Jews will have in accepting such things, and they make a special effort in letting them know that they are not leaving their family at all. My advice is don’t forget that for a second (not that I think you will)! You have not lost a single bit of your Jewish identity, though others may try to make you feel like you have, or that you should. Don’t shed a single part of yourself, and if by some far stretch you feel the urge to, read Acts and see that the Apostles continued to feel at home in the synagogue; they did not for a second cease to be Jews. Remember Miriam, the beautiful Jewish girl who gave herself completely to God and never abandoned the Temple. Remember Jesus, who quoted Psalms in the Jewish Aramaic language from the cross. The Church is the branches and fruit of the Jewish root and trunk; you have not stepped away one inch from the Tree of Life! I’m sure you don’t need to hear any of this, but I offer it more as encouragement and excitement than anything else 🙂

God Bless, and WELCOME HOME! Let me be the first to raise a virtual glass of Manischewitz with you to the Moshiach, the Suffering King, the Lamb of God, God With Us!

Gaude! Gaude! Emmanuel nescetur pro te Israel!

I was praying, kneeling in front of the statue of the Virgin Miriam at church (Sorry, lately I feel more comfortable referring to her by her Hebrew name. I hope no one objects.) I had some things on my mind. I prayed to both Miriam and Yeshua (Again, I hope no one objects, but I’d rather call Him by His Hebrew name.).
How could we object to the names that their own best friends and closest companions called them? On the contrary, I hope you don’t object to our translations of their names. 😛

Think about that for a minute, though. These names have passed into almost every language, in every part of the globe. The names of two Jews, members of a tiny tribe in a distant location, a man and His mother, on the lips and tongues of people from every tribe and every location. Who could it be but the promised Messiah and His Virgin Mother?😃

:blessyou:

Personally, I LOVE to hear the names Yeshua and Miriam used.

I’m so happy for you. This must be extremely frightening for you.

I feel very blessed to be able to see Yeshua Ha Moshiach through Jewish eyes. It means so much to me to know that my people were given the honor of the Moshiach coming from us. It also makes me sad that most Jews reject our Jewish Moshiach. I will pray for Jews all over the world, that their eyes will be open and they will see Yeshua as the fulfillment of the Jewish faith.
I can see why the Virgin Miriam and Yeshua may need to intervene at time sin order to reach Jews. Most Jewish people are ver hardened towards the Christian faith, and see it as foreign to Judaism. To convert to Christianity is to cease to be a Jew. (By the way, I’ve already had two Jewish friends cut me off today. After I told them about Yeshua, they both said they never wanted to speak to me again. I’ll pray for them.)
I believe we are all one in Yeshua, Jew, non-Jew, whatever. I think it’s beautiful that Yeshua came to unite mankind and offer eternal life to all people, and left his Universal Church to continue the work.

No, I didn’t get much sleep last night. I was too wound up! Thankfully, I’m not that tired, though. I feel ok. My exam went very well. I think I got an A! I just got the book in the mail a few minutes ago. Thank you! I’m going to start reading it tonight! :blessyou:

I don’t object at all to the non-Hebrew translations of their names. Yeshua and Miriam are for all people, regardless of language. It’s beautiful that people from every language can call out to them. Their names are beautiful no matter the translation!

I’m sorry that you have lost 2 friends as a result of coming to Christ. It always seems so strange to me that this happens, and yet it does repeatedly and the Bible warns us that this will be the case for those who follow Christ.

Be not afraid, said a great man, quoting another great man.
