You could say I’m new to this whole “traditional Catholic” thing. My parish that I grew up in wasn’t traditional, wasn’t charismatic, wasn’t really anything. So now I’m discovering this whole new world of Catholicism and I’m trying to kind of play catch-up.
I enjoy both the EF and OF Masses. I’m looking to purchase a missal, but there are so many different kinds (weekday, Sunday, daily, NO, EF, Latin, English, Latin/English, the list goes on and on) that I’m getting very confused.
Are there any missals that I can use to follow along in both forms of the Mass?
If not, what kind of Latin missal should I get, in your opinion, and why? (And I guess I’ll wait for the new Mass to arrive this Advent (hooray!) to get my NO missal.)
Does “daily missal” mean it includes both Sundays and weekdays?
Do missals usually include saints’ days, reminders for First Fridays and First Saturdays, etc.?
Basically, I want to know, form your own experience, what missal(s) is/(are) best.
Thanks!
