So a while back, maybe a year ago, I watched porn. I wouldn’t say regularly, but it was a decent amount. At the time, I knew it was a sin, but I figured that it wasn’t really bad, and to be honest, I wasn’t really thinking about what I was doing. After it, I felt sorry, confessed it well and figured it to be gone as a sin, and I did not watch porn again. But recently, I realized that it can be classified as a mortal sin, and I just don’t know what to do. If I knew back then it was a mortal sin, I most definitely would not have done it. Now do I consider it forgiven and move on, or do I need to do something more? Does this count as a mortal sin, or a forgiven venial one?

You should speak to a priest. None of us on this website are able to properly aid in the formation of your conscience, considering that we are communicating over the internet. It is wise to keep questions of this nature between yourself and a priest only.

Did you receive absolution? Yes?

Then it’s GONE. Mortal, venial - it’s all destroyed! Do not doubt God’s promises! Learn from sin, but do not dwell on it.

You need not answer, but consider: Are you scrupulous? OCD? Anxious? if so, help is readily available to help you get past it.

Your confessor knew what type of sin it was when you confessed it to him. It IS gone, as he absolved you. Go forth.

If you received. absolution from the priest, you were forgiven.
