I’m speaking solely in the context of Mary - there are many passages in the Koran that address Christ as “Jesus son of Mary.” There are even more found in the hadith sources.
Usually when they are saying that they are referring more to Jesus than to Mary. They do honor her though. What their point in saying ‘Jesus, son of Mary’ is to show themselves that Jesus was not what He claimed to be, the Son of God, one of the Trinity.
It gets very confusing. Basically Muhammed didn’t have a clue as to what the Bible said except for what he heard. Muhammed couldn’t read or write and for the first 40 years of his life he was a pagan, a Hanif. In fact, his father’s name was ‘Abd-allah’ (or slave of Allah). Allah was one of many gods and goddesses in his religion.
What Muhammed did was to make Allah the sole god in his new religion. And then he took the parts of the Bible that he knew and included them into his religion. Unfortunate for him, the Jews and Christians were literate and knew their Bible and knew, as we do now, that Muhammed really made a mess of the Bible stories.
And even at one point Muhammed included three of Allah’s daughters from his Hanif religion. They eventually were taken out, and Muhammed blamed the devil for including them.
but the three daughters are even mentioned in the Quran. (Sura 53:19)
And to go a bit further with Muhammed’s pagan religion - the black stone, the Hajj, and all the rites (spitting, snorting, throwing rocks at the devil, running around it and running to another rock, etc) associated with it are of Muhammed’s pagan religion. Muhammed broke the statue that used to depict Allah.
There is a free book on the interenet and you can download it and read it. It is one of many that I have read (I read this one years ago)
in PDF format:
The Truth about Muhammed
I think that
faithfreedom.org had some articles on the black rock and one former Muslim admitted that Muslims worship the
black rock
because they think it has consciousness and will speak for them on Judgement Day. There is no guarantee of salvation in Islam and there are a lot of things they do to try to be saved. (read down the article a bit to find that little tidbit about the black rock)
