Question regarding Catholic Charismatic Renewal

I wouldn t think that the traditional forum would necessarily be the best place for it The avowed purpose of the Traditional Forum is to discuss traditional Roman Catholic spirituality.and practices. While I have no problem personally with what you believe,would have a hard time justifying its inclusion on this particular forum and there is a good chance it would be moved t a more appropriate forum by the mods who do such things fairly regularly

Hello Mike…yeah no problem! I am new to the complexity of the Catholic Answers website and didn’t even realize that there were different sections…like I said earlier…it makes total sense to focus the discussion on the topic of the group…i.e. traditional catholicism versus whatever…yeah. …its kewl…its all good!

This is just a quick question for those involved in the Charismatic Renewal. Please don’t turn it into an argument for and against it if possible.

I have found a Life in the Spirit course that runs from January to March. My question is: I have been baptized (in the Anglican church) as a child, and am hoping to be confirmed in the Catholic church next Easter. Is it okay to do this course before my confirmation, or is it just for those already confirmed?

This would be highly recommended. It is an excellent compliment to the RCIA or other preparations. You will not find a healthy receptive attitude about that here in the Traditional part of the forum, I fear.

I asked in here because I saw previous threads on it here, and my question has been answered.

I don’t quite know why you have decided to make a judgement on my motivation, I just wanted a simple question answered because they are taking bookings for this course in November and I haven’t heard back from my Priest yet.

There have been threads about it here, but by an large, the reception of the topic is quite hostile and defensive. I don’t think it is appropriate for the “Liturgy” area, either, as most of it occurs outside of Liturgy. Spirituality, perhaps?

All the forum areas have “sticky notes” at the top near the forum rules that suggest what topics are good for that area. You learn as you go.

While the OP is at it, he might as well look for a parish receptive to the Charismatic Renewal for his RCIA as well, because if he goes through RCIA in a parish not open to that, I’m sure it will be very discouraging.

It’s a she! I go to my local Parish. I spoke to my Priest today and start RCIA tommorrow, just me and my Priest! I was expecting a group, but I guess I’m the only one wanting RCIA.

I am quite happy staying where I am. I don’t think a Priest would discourage me from taking the course, we’ll see.

This seems like an awfully prejudicial point of view. It need not be assumed that persons open to the work of the HS in their daily lives are not also orthodox adherants to the Catholic faith.
