Lev23

Thanks!

Which verses?

And please explain your interpretation, thanks!

Again, thanks!

  1. City build on 7 hills is Jerusalem: Mount of Olives, with three summits, Scopus, Nob, Mount of Corruption or Mount of Offence; Mount Zion, Ophel Mount, the Rock around which Fort Antonia was built. And finally, there was the southwest hill itself that finally became known in the time of Simon the Hasmonean as the new “Mount Zion”
Double meaning.

Josephus records the names of the seven hills Jerusalem is built on: Zion, Acra, Moriah, Bezetha, Millo, Ophel, and Antonio (war of the Jews)

Also seven kings. Five who have fallen:Julius Caesar, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, and Claudius. Nero “is”. Vespasian has not yet come. Titus is an eith but belongs to the seventh, because he is Vespasians son. He is the one who destroyed the Temple/ will hate the harlot make her desolate and naked devour her flesh and burn her up with fire.

Peace,

I don’t know. I got the Josephus quote out of the book “Rapture” by David Currie.

The emperors are a Currie quote, not Josephus.

Again, while you want to point that Jerusalem is the whore, ultimately, it will be restored by Yeshua before the New Jerusalem. He will reign there for a 1000 years.

Jerusalem, like Israel, will be restored by Yeshua before this heaven and Earth pass for the new.

I certainly believe in the restoration of Israel, but I don’t know how you get Yeshua reigning in Jerusalem for a 1000 years by reading the Book of Revelation.

Ryan 🙂

What other city would Revelation be referring to? Seamus Sully just listed Jerusalems attributes, some by reading Revelation. And if there is a New Jerusalem described in Revelation, the old must of been described prior to it.

Plus the fact that other Kingdom scripture in the OT name Jerusalem.

I have been perplexed by the symbolisms in the Holy Bible.

This perplexion is greatly increased IN the Book of Revelation.

I have struggled praying and in my studies concerning these symbols.

It seems to me the greatest literal statement is: REPENT!

Repent and these things will not happen.

How could we forget Jonah and his success. No! God’s power to cause repentance.

REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT.

At the end of the Book of Revelation, it seems as if the seven churches must have repented, they received promises–that is, the Bride received the promises.

Also, I believe the Song of Songs’ bride is connected to the Book of Revelation–how I do not know.

Is 1000 years a symbol?

If it is, the symbol of the 1000 years is beyond me.

The woman, the snake are symbols.

The 1000 years could be joined or connected to: “A day with the Lord is as a 1000 years, and a thousand years is as a day.”

I have pondered if John was with the Lord on the Lord’s day (one day), seems as if John were with the Lord 1000 years, that is,1000 blessed earth years.

If one is there a thousand years, it is as if it were only a day.

Perhaps a few questions is much better–How does one discern if St. John is using a symbol?

Is the destruction of Jerusalem in the past–in the year of 70?

Did the Old Law become complete (pass away) in 33?

Did the physical Jerusalem pass away in 70?

The CCC teaches that the Holy Bible does use symbols.

Then the symbols must be moved to the literal meaning.

But I do not know how to do that for many, many things in the Book of Revelation.

I therefore try to join the statements in the Book of Revelation to other passages that might explain the symbolism.

I AM NOT A SCHOLAR.

THEREFORE I AM TOTALLY UNCERTAIN ABOUT MY INTERTEXTUALITIES OR “INTRA-EGESIS”.

My prayer tells me to make it practical: REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT!

At least your nose is in the scriptures brother! 👍

You made me ponder some things.

I think that intertextuality or “intra-egesis” is helpful

I think that there is a reasson that the two olive tree are talked about with the candlestick.

St. John tells us what the candlestick is–a Church.

I would think that the two olive trees are the Gentile Christian and the Jewish Christian Churches. They were brothers and sisters of love.

The passages that come to my mind are about an olive tree being joined to a wild olive tree–the wicked Gentiles.

I have not said the above clearly–again, I am not a scholar.

I think that our God is a consuming fire (or something like that), and God is Love are somehow related to the Fire in the book of Revelation.

I think “intra-egesis” or intertextuality is helpful.

Again, I am not a scholar. I am not at all sure that my opinion is correct–I am searching.

I think that the blood of the Book of Revelation is the Blood of the Lamb–for the same reasons.

I cannot accept an atomic bomb as the fire that comes down from heaven–it is eisegesis or literary allegory or pagan allegory. The fire first went up. It started on earth and ends on earth.

It is not Biblical allegory–St. Paul uses biblical allegory in Galatians. It is not typology. Typology takes two biblical people or events and shows a relation. The relationship is of completion, fruition or fulfillment.

I believe that God’s Love is a consuming fire.

Jesus stands at the door knocking.

If I accept His loving knock, the two of us can become teacher disciple.

If I run and hide, He is coming like a thief in the night–I will be totally suprised and fight Him.

But His love will burn away my hate–I hope and pray.

In addition–I think the fire is related to the fire that St. Paul says will burn up my works of wood and straw.

I believe it is related to cleaning mu soul and making my soul stronger.

I am absolutely confident that if my ideas are a little correct, they are a long way from being completely filled out.

Again, I am not a scholar, but a student.

I am looking for loving conversation about these and similar matters.

I am looking for loving help!

Old Jerusalem was destroyed within a generation of Jesus death and resurrection. 1000 years refers to the heavenly reign. (1000 years is symbolic of a very long time) Jesus will return in glory after Rev 20:7

Try these symbols and see how they fit for you.

The woman crowned with 12 stars is Mary the whole Jewish nation acted as a gateway for the messiah of the world. The Snake being the corruption trying to stop His coming kingdom.

Jerusalem, Judaea, was the harlot who associated with the beast The Pagan Roman empire.

Fire is associated with God especially because of its cleansing nature as well as it has historically been used to describe the nature of the Trinity. Light, heat, and combustion all equally existing as one thing Fire.

God poured out His Spirit and End Times (Fire, Spirit, Love)
Acts 2: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 5: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Song of Songs 8: 6 Set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as Sheol; The flashes thereof are flashes of fire, A very flame of Jehovah (RSV).

Deuteronomy 4: 24 For the LORD thy God [is] a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God.

I John 4: 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Revelation 8: 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. (Fire, voices, thunderings and lightnings surround the Throne or on altar)

Revelation 8: 7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. (Good Bible suggestion, Blood of the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world (“ge”).

Luke 24: 32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

I Corinthians 3: 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Revelation 17: 5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (N. B. This symbol has the title written on forehead, but this is clearly not a physical forehead. Then confer with the forehead of the image of the beast. Also, it is not just called Babylon, but Babylon the Great, and mystery.)

II Kings 24: 10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. 11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it. 12 And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. 13 And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

II Kings 25: 1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, [that] Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.

II Kings 25: 8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh [day] of the month, which [is] the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: 9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great [man’s] house burnt he with fire. 10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that [were with] the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about. 11 Now the rest of the people [that were] left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away. 12 But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land [to be] vinedressers and husbandmen. 13 And the pillars of brass that [were] in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that [was] in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon. 14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away. 15 And the firepans, and the bowls, [and] such things as [were] of gold, [in] gold, and of silver, [in] silver, the captain of the guard took away.

St. Matthew 12: 6 But I say unto you, That in this place is [one] greater than the temple.

St. John 2: 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Revelation 21: 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

I Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are.

I Corinthians 6: 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

II Corinthians 6: 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Ephesians 2: 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

The antichrist and antichrists appeared after the real Temple was rebuilt.

I John 4: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I John 4: 3 and every spirit which does not confess Jesus Christ come in flesh is not of God: and this is that [power] of the antichrist, [of] which ye have heard that it comes, and now it is already in the world (Darby translation).

II John 1: 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

II John 1: 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist (RSV).

(Make us in your image of love, Lord.)

Lord (KJV).
