Repentance
Revelations 2: 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Jeremiah 26: 17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, 18 Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed [like] a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. 19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.

Jonah 3: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands. 9 Who can tell [if] God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not.

Olive Trees
Revelation 11: 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

Romans 11: 24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches], be graffed into their own olive tree?

Zechariah 4: 12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What [be these] two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden [oil] out of themselves? 13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these [be]? And I said, No, my lord. 14 Then said he, These [are] the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

Judges 9: 8 The trees went forth [on a time] to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us. 9 But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? 10 But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? 11 But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? 12 Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, [and] reign over us. 13 And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? 14 Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, [and] reign over us. 15 And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, [then] come [and] put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon. 16 Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands; 17 For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian: 18 And ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he [is] your brother;) 19 If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, [then] rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you: 20 But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

God poured out His Spirit and End Times (Fire, Spirit, Love)
Acts 2: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 5: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Song of Songs 8: 6 Set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as Sheol; The flashes thereof are flashes of fire, A very flame of Jehovah (RSV).

Deuteronomy 4: 24 For the LORD thy God [is] a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God.

I John 4: 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Revelation 8: 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. (Fire, voices, thunderings and lightnings surround the Throne or on altar)

Revelation 8: 7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. (Good Bible suggestion, Blood of the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world (“ge”).

Luke 24: 32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

I Corinthians 3: 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Mystery Babylon the Great
(Babylon Destroyed the Copy of the Temple and the Jews Destroyed the Real Temple. The Jews also destroyed many of the saints, who are Temples of the Holy Spirit.)

Well many of the above refer to fire and God’s love and jealousy for our love. If we have His Holy Spirit we will have a burning passion to please. God is a consuming fire and when we stand before the judgment all of us that is not of Him will be purified whether it is instantly or over a period of time we will be purified before we enter fully into heaven. As well one can expect alot of “burning” when God’s judgment comes to earth.

Revelation 17: 5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (N. B. This symbol has the title written on forehead, but this is clearly not a physical forehead. Then confer with the forehead of the image of the beast. Also, it is not just called Babylon, but Babylon the Great, and mystery.)

II Kings 24: 10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. 11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it. 12 And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. 13 And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

II Kings 25: 1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, [that] Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.

II Kings 25: 8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh [day] of the month, which [is] the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: 9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great [man’s] house burnt he with fire. 10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that [were with] the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about. 11 Now the rest of the people [that were] left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away. 12 But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land [to be] vinedressers and husbandmen. 13 And the pillars of brass that [were] in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that [was] in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon. 14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away. 15 And the firepans, and the bowls, [and] such things as [were] of gold, [in] gold, and of silver, [in] silver, the captain of the guard took away.

St. Matthew 12: 6 But I say unto you, That in this place is [one] greater than the temple.

St. John 2: 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Revelation 21: 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

I Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are.

I Corinthians 6: 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

II Corinthians 6: 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Ephesians 2: 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
First I believe that the harlot could be the first century Jews who rejected Christ, but they foreshadow the One world religion that is coming up from New Age theology. This Harlot particularly loves commerce and self indulgence as well as moral compromise, all things seen in the Sadducee’s of Christs time.

Next we as individual believers and the Ekklesia or assembly or Church are the temple. Jesus said plainly that the Kingdom of God is among us. We are the dwelling place of the Holy Ghost. A lot of modern prophecy writers try to say that we need another Jewish temple, but I disagree. I also believe that the earlier destructions of the temple were a sort of foreshadow of Christ’s crucifixion. What happened when the Jews sinned God destroyed the temple.

All of that points to our sole citizenship in the Kingdom of God. Which is founded on Christ and the Apostles and the prophets. This particular point is very important to Catholics because it underscores the heart of Sacred Tradition as the foundation for understanding scriptures.

Thanks!

I am not sure, and I want to be polite and honest: I think we agree.

Is that the way you see it.

Seamus Sully,

I am always looking for a better understanding of the imagery and symbolism of the End Times. I think we are on the same page, but I wasn’t sure if you were looking for some opinions on the scriptures you quoted so I thought I would put in my two scents. I believe that much of prophesy is obscured to us in such a way that when we are on the other side of it we are strengthened by knowing it was really prophesy, not so much for us to be able to dodge a specific danger like in movies or such. Prophesy was all ways for the edification of the Church. To me that means when we look back and say that Jesus predicted the fall of Jerusalem in 30 AD and then it fell in 70 AD our faith in Him grows. Just as with Isaiah and Jeremiah’s prophecies. Daniel was even able to predict the very day that Christ rode into Jerusalem in his 7 weeks of years. I am so amazed by the Word.

You were correct, I was looking for other thoughts and reflection.

I cannot thank you enough for your thoughts, thanks!

An idea or two concerning people such as Hal Lindsey and his book The Late Great Planet Earth.

First, I do not think he has the slightest clue about what the Book of Revelation means.

The last few pages of his work are rather insightful with regard to my about opinion–over forty years after he put his thougths together and 38 years after he published.

I made a list of many of the signs that he mentions in those last pages, plus several earlier in the book.

If he is correct, there are about 25-30 things that still have to come to fruition.

Some of them have been the opposite way he said it would happen–The Soviet Union became divided and U. S. A. won the Cold War.

If he is Raptured Out and the millions of other Christians, and if I am still here–then I will watch his list most carefully.

I believe that he will die like the rest of us Christians.

What I really wonder about, and this has nothing to do with Mr. Lindsey–Does the Book of Revelation talk about Purgatory?

Oh, I will not be able to respond for a few weeks, if you see this post.

Sorry, I am not here to talk about Hal Lindsey–it just sort of happened, sorry.

I do not want to write about him, again–sorry!

Again, thanks for the conversations.
