  1. Are the seven hills of Jerusalem mentioned in the Bible?
    I have read on these forums that there are seven hills around Jerusalem. A kind scholar has even supplied me with the names. I am not a scholar, that is why I am asking for help.
  2. According to Barber, Jerusalem is the city that is destroyed in the Book of Revelation. I assume that this is common teaching. Is there a list of Biblical passages that explain this?

I don’t know if all seven hills are mentioned in the Bible.

2 Sam 5:7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

2 Chron 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

2 Sam 5:9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

2 Chron 27:3 He built the high gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.

I couldn’t find reference to Acra, Bezetha, and Antonio.

I’m not sure about Biblical passages that describe the actual destruction of Jerusalem. (in plain language)

Jesus predicts it in Luke 21:5-33 and the parallel passages in Matthew and Mark.

The events are described in chapters 4-19 of book of Revelation. (in apocolyptic language)

Other than that I’m not sure.

I am looking for a list that show Israel as the unfaithful wife–I have to say it in polite language.

I am looking for the passages that it is a city built on seven hills.

I don’t know of any scripture that says Jerusalem is built on 7 hills. (in clear language)

The harlotry of Jerusalem:

How has she turned adulteress, the faithful city, so upright! Justice used to lodge within her, but now, murderers. (Isa 1:21)

Behind the door and the doorpost you placed your indecent symbol. Deserting me, you spread out your high, wide bed; And of those whose embraces you love you carved the symbol and gazed upon it (Isa 57:8)

Long ago you broke your yoke, you tore off your bonds. “I will not serve,” you said. On every high hill, under every green tree, you gave yourself to harlotry. (Jer 2:20)

Ezek 16:15-39

Ezek 23:1-21

This scripture isn’t flattering but it is polite as it gets. I Hope that’s what you’re looking for.

I have read Michael Barber’s book Coming Soon two times.

It seems clear that the city destroyed in the book of Revelation is the Old Jerusalem.

I have brothers that are in love with hating the Catholic Church.

They believe in Dispensationalism.

They think the scarlet colors are Cardinals.

They have never heard that the scarlet is from the clothing of high priest, Ex. 28: 15-13.

I hope that there is a clear list of passages that show Old Jerusalem is the city that is destroyed in the Book of Revelation.

Then I will give it lovingly to my brothers.

They are honest enough to pray over such passages.

Also, they have never heard that Jerusalem has seven hills/mountains around it.

If I could show them from the Bible that this is correct, they are honest enough to prayer over such passages.

Barber gives many passages, but they are spread out in many pages.

I am hoping that one list has already been put together.

I will put a list together, but I do not have the time as of now.

Also, I do not wish to reinvent the wheel.

First, I don’t know why or how these people you know hate the CC. Just make sure for their sake they are not hating actual people. I will say that you are right in that the Cardinals wear scarlet because of the Temple days, and anyone going beyond that is probably stretching it.

We can both agree with the state of unsaved Israel at this present time, but we got to remember who the New Covenant was announced and made with first, the House of Judah and Israel. Read Jeremiah31:31-37.

St.Paul teaches in Romans that there is a Remnant of Israel in the Church. This Remnant insures all believers that God will stay faithful to Israel and never forget them. But now we know this is through his only Son, Jesus. Which is happening right now and at his second coming. I have heard from Christian Jews that the heart of a Jew is Jerusalem. When they accepted Messiah Jesus into their hearts, for them, peace truley did come to the Jerusalem, because they know the Jerusalem above is coming and most of all of course, Jesus reigns in their hearts.

Now St.Paul also teaches in Galatians that the same Jerusalem today is in slavery with her children, that would be unfaithful Israel.

But this all goes back to boasting against the broken branches. If you or I present ANYONE, believer in Jesus or not, how unfaithful Israel is to the God of Israel, we better make sure we witness to the broken branches. Otherwise, we are boasting in unsaved Israel’s unbelief.

I don’t know what physical shape Jerusalem is going to be in when Jesus comes back, but he will bring real peace to the city before the new Jerusalem comes.

All praise and glory to the God of Israel, through his only Son, Jesus Christ.

Compair Luke 21:5-33 with Rev 6:1-17

When the seals are opened in Rev we see the fulfillment of the warning Jesus gave His disciples about the fall of the Temple (signs in the Olivet Discourse).

St. Andrew says in his commentary on Revelation
Since what is to be interpreted is spiritual, there is need, it says, for a spiritual wisdom, not a worldly wisdom to understand what is being said. We believe that the seven heads and seven mountains are to be interpreted as seven places that excel the rest in excellence and worldly power. In these places we recognize that at various times the kingdom of the world is established, such as at first the rule of the Assyrians in Nineveh. Second, in Ecbatana there was the pwoer of the Medians who from the time of Arbakes seized power from the Assyrians whose kings, Sardanapal, Arbakes is said to have destroyed. After these there was the power of the Chaldeans in Babylon, whose king was Nabuchadonosor. Then after their fall the rule of the Perisans in Susa was initiated by Cyrus. And after the destruction of this kingdom by Alexander, there was the rule of the Macedonians, After these there was sovereign under Augustus Caesar and its recent emporers and consuls and was possesed by wicked men until Constantine. After the fall of these, the royal powers of emporers favorable to Christ werre transferred to new Rome.
