Questions about the Divine Mercy image

About the Divine Mercy image, it is said that Jesus told Faustina “I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish”. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine_Mercy_image)

Is it true? And, if it is true, what does it mean? Does it mean that anyone who once venerates the Divine Mercy image will get an assurance of salvation? It seems that it is too good to be true.

I read about this in the diary of Faustina (liturgicalyear.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/divine-mercy-in-my-soul.pdf). After the promise, the diary says “When I told this to my confessor, I received this for a reply: “That refers to your soul.””. So, is the promise only for Faustina?

I think it means,

If we pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, do works of Mercy, and treat the image of Jesus with veneration and respect, while living good Catholic lives. Jesus will intervene and plead for us at death. And show us Mercy.

It’s not just about venerating Jesus’ Divine Mercy image. That’s part of it.

It’s also about living a life of mercy towards others, and accepting God’s Mercy in our lives, and it’s also about praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet as well.

The sum total of Catholic teaching always applies. Repentancemust be shown, and from the heart. This is not a new revelation, or a new gospel. Faith is the bedrock of any action taken by a Christian. If it is not done with faith, it is superstition, which is a sin. Faith is the key.

These promises are conditional. so if you venerate the image and live like a pagan thinking that you will be saved tehn think again. This doesn’t work unless you are trying to be good and get better.
