Are any of those Biblical? Prove it. Thx. :dancing:
Biblically, it would make more sense for the Pope to be kissing the feet of others, or actually washing them.

Then again, maybe he does… who knows

Yes. The bible though also says that there are some traditions we should keep. These are not all found in the bible.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 (KJV)
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

I hope that you are not Iglesia ni Cristo or SDA. Tough to have an actual dialog with a such a person.
Ahh! You said it. Here in the Philippines, even other Protestant communities (mainline) consider the INC as a cult, sort of like the LDS of the Philippines. But that’s a different topic for a different thread. 🙂

Indeed it is!

Although not required to do so, I’d consider myself honored and incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to kiss B16’s feet. Not out of worship but out of the enormous respect and love I have for him and his office and Whom he represents.

Indeed, how beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news.

Speaking of kissing, do you greet your brothers and sisters in Christ with a holy kiss? That is 100% biblical.

If not, why not?

1 Corinthians 16:20
All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

2 Corinthians 13:12
Greet one another with an holy kiss
.

1 Thessalonians 5:26
Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss
.

This is a fun thread. 👍

found this…

Pope Eugenius II., who died in 827, was the first who made it the law to kiss the papal foot. From that time it was necessary to kneel before the popes. Gregory VII. ordered all princes to submit to this practice

so 827 is when he died… also

Wikipedia states it happened at the first Papal Coronation in 1143 and then I found it again in:

THE CORONATION OF POPE LEO XIII ON MARCH 3, 1878
From “Catholic World,” “The Coronation of Pope Leo XIII” [pp. 280-285]
Rome, March 20, 1878

That’s the last I could find and it looks as if it’s mainly at Coronations and it’s the archbishops and bishops doing it.

BUT…

if you Google …:Pope John Paull II feet kiss
you get a list of all the feet of others that Pope John Paull II kissed. 👍

😉

Wow, the pope actually washes others’ feet? Awesome! Catholicism is so biblical it scares me sometimes…

Every day I find more and more reasons to love the Bride of Christ! 😃
Man, I just wish Easter Vigil would hurry up and get here so I can receive the Eucharist! AHHH! I’m so excited you guys! :extrahappy:
