The Catholic Church assembled the scriptures, decided which would canonized, translated the scriptures and spent centuries copying them in the monasteries and interpreting them. So how can the Bible be infallible if the Church responsible for it is corrupt?

For what reason do you think that the Bible is infallible or the only authority?

Why does it bother Protestants that don’t believe Christ is physically present in the Eucharist when the Church tells them it they shouldn’t receive?

How come some evangelical Protestants object so strongly to the Church’s position on birth control and on celibacy for Latin Rite priests? Why get upset about what the Church teaches at all if it isn’t your church?

The same reason Jesus picked Judas?:o

I don’t think so as an agnostic, but would like to hear the rebuttal to this question.

Not sure there. Every house has rules, and you should follow them as a guest.

Ouch. That’s gonna bite you in a big way. Birth control is okay even with eastern orthodox not in union with rome with spiritual guidance, from what I read. We all know what they think about celibacy. I do realize there are many rites in the catholic church, most eastern.
But I am only aware of the eastern catholics not in union with Rome on this topic after reading online :o could be wrong about that.
Why get upset about what the Church teaches at all if it isn’t your church?
Because I am sure they have sincere intentions to save you from doing things they believe will put your soul at risk.

Again, this is the only reason I can think of.

Hello,
We don’t use the word “infallible”. We believe the Bible is inspired by God through human writers.
I personally don’t believe that the Catholic Church is corrupt. There were some serious issues in the Middle Ages, but those appear to be resolved.
I personally am not bothered by the Church’s view on birth control or celibacy. I don’t know anyone else who is bothered by these things.
As far as the Eucharist, I really don’t know. I am happy with our Communion in the Methodist Church.
Hope this helps.🙂

The Catholic Church assembled the scriptures, decided which would canonized, translated the scriptures and spent centuries copying them in the monasteries and interpreting them. 1. So how can the Bible be infallible if the Church responsible for it is corrupt?
  1. For what reason do you think that the Bible is infallible or the only authority?
  2. Why does it bother Protestants that don’t believe Christ is physically present in the Eucharist when the Church tells them it they shouldn’t receive?
  3. How come some evangelical Protestants object so strongly to the Church’s position on birth control and on celibacy for Latin Rite priests? Why get upset about what the Church teaches at all if it isn’t your church?
  1. If the Scriptures is ‘God Breathed’ as 2 Timothy 3:16 says, then it is God, not fallible man that is responsible for the Bible being infallible. God has used sinners since Adam to do His bidding. He used the virgin Mary, Paul (Saul of Tarsus), Peter and all the rest of the sinners of the New Testament. They weren’t perfect, Jesus is and was the only One without sin.
  1. Because it’s God’s Word. God doesn’t make mistakes. We do.
  1. Your believe about the Eucharist doesn’t bother me, but I don’t think its accurate. When Jesus instituted the Last Supper (communion), His Body and Blood were intact in His Earthen Vessel so when He said, “This is My Body …” and “This is My Blood…” He was speaking metaphorically. Metaphors and similes are used throughout the Bible.
  1. I’d rather not comment on this one except to say banning all forms of birth control has been a dangerous practice for too many.

The Catholic Church assembled the scriptures, decided which would canonized, translated the scriptures and spent centuries copying them in the monasteries and interpreting them. So how can the Bible be infallible if the Church responsible for it is corrupt? First of all, the Catholic Church is not the only organization responsible for the Bible. After all, the Jewish people are the ones that have kept most of the OT alive and well. Secondly, I really recommend the book Beyond Belief to Convictions by Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler… the part on the Bible.

For what reason do you think that the Bible is infallible or the only authority? Same section of the same book lol. It will explain it so much better than I can.

*Why does it bother Protestants that don’t believe Christ is physically present in the Eucharist when the Church tells them it they shouldn’t receive? * I am not entrirely sure I understand this question. Why does it bother me that I cannot receive the Eucharist when I attend the Catholic Church? It doesn’t. So I guess this question doesn’t really apply to me.

How come some evangelical Protestants object so strongly to the Church’s position on birth control? I have no problem whatsoever with the Church’s stance on birth control, with the possible exception of condoms. I have yet to really read about the differences in Catholic belief between NFP and the use of condoms… so I am not going to judge that yet. In fact, I think most Protestants are just ignorant about how awesome NFP is, and how bad artificial contraception can be. Then again, the quiverful movement (think the Duggar family) is a Protestant (allbeit Baptist) movement for the most part, so maybe not all Protestants are ignorant.

*and on celibacy for Latin Rite priests? * I have no problem with Priests being celibate if they choose to be. I just think the Catholic Church would have a lot of men who would be great priests who are also husbands and fathers. That said, it would require a ten percent tithe from people, because usually if you have a Pastor with a family, you need two pastors in order to fully take care of the flock.

Why get upset about what the Church teaches at all if it isn’t your church? I attend a Catholic Church with my future (Catholic) husband. Plus it is the closest Church to my home. Plus I have a deep respect for the Church, so I don’t really get upset with it’s beliefs, they are just different from mine.
