From Animal House:

Bluto: Over? Did you say over? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Stratton: Germans?
Boone: Forget it, he’s on a roll.

Norrington- “And I half expected it to be made of wood. You are without doubt the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.”
Jack Sparrow- “But you have heard of me.”

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is my favorite movie of all time!! When I saw this movie many times I actually never knew what Norrington was saying, to me it sounded very mumbled, but then I finally found out what he was saying like 4 years after the movie came out. And now whenever I go to Disney World and go on the Pirates ride my younger brother says my favorite Norrington line “And I half expected it to be made of wood” whenever we pass these swords that are stuck on the wall!! It makes my smile so much!:):):):)🙂

Lily M- That is one of my favorite scenes in the movie as well as the curtain dress scene. Oh who am I kiddin’ I love Gone with the Wind also.

You need kissing badly

Lisle Von Rhuman: Go on… Drink it… It is the completion of your life’s work. You gave other people youth and wasted your own! Drink. And you will be able to work again forever! Drink… drink, Dr. Menville. You owe yourself another chance! Drink! It’s the right choice! The only choice! Drink! SEMPRE VIVE! LIVE FOREVER!
Ernest Menville: Then what?
Lisle Von Rhuman: What?
Ernest Menville: Then what happens?
Lisle Von Rhuman: What?
Ernest Menville: I don’t want to live forever. I mean, it sounds good, but what am I gonna do? What if I get bored?
Lisle Von Rhuman: What?
Ernest Menville: And what if I get lonely? Who am I gonna hang around with, Madeleine and Helen?
Lisle: But you’ll never grow old!
Ernest: Yes, but everybody else will! I’ll have to watch everyone around me die. I don’t think this is right. This is not a dream. This is a nightmare!

quotes from Death Becomes Her

“She turned me into a newt!” (Silent Pause)…“I got better.”

“What?! He says he’s not dead?” “Well he will be soon, he’s very ill”

“Message for you sir!”

“And then you must chop down the mighiest tree in the forest wiiiiittthhh…a herring!”

I’d have to print the entire script from this movie to truly quote my favorites!

From a Man for All Seasons…Another great movie with many wonderful lines in it. Here are just two examples…

A panel is trying to get Sir Thomas More to sign the oath that would affirm the King’s Title as head of the Church in England.

The Duke of Norfolk: Oh confound all this. I’m not a scholar, I don’t know whether the marriage was lawful or not but dammit, Thomas, look at these names! Why can’t you do as I did and come with us, for fellowship!

Sir Thomas More: And when we die, and you are sent to heaven for doing your conscience, and I am sent to hell for not doing mine, will you come with me, for fellowship?

***Then Later at His Trial:

Cromwell: Now, Sir Thomas, you stand on your silence.
Sir Thomas More: I do.
Cromwell: But, gentlemen of the jury, there are many kinds of silence. Consider first the silence of a man who is dead. Let us suppose we go into the room where he is laid out, and we listen: what do we hear? Silence. What does it betoken, this silence? Nothing; this is silence pure and simple. But let us take another case. Suppose I were to take a dagger from my sleeve and make to kill the prisoner with it; and my lordships there, instead of crying out for me to stop, maintained their silence. That would betoken! It would betoken a willingness that I should do it, and under the law, they will be guilty with me. So silence can, according to the circumstances, speak! Let us consider now the circumstances of the prisoner’s silence. The oath was put to loyal subjects up and down the country, and they all declared His Grace’s title to be just and good. But when it came to the prisoner, he refused! He calls this silence. Yet is there a man in this court - is there a man in this country! - who does not know Sir Thomas More’s opinion of this title?
Crowd in court gallery: No!
Cromwell: Yet how can this be? Because this silence betokened, nay, this silence was, not silence at all, but most eloquent denial!
Sir Thomas More: Not so. Not so, Master Secretary. The maxim is “Qui tacet consentiret”: the maxim of the law is “Silence gives consent”. If therefore you wish to construe what my silence betokened, you must construe that I consented, not that I denied.
Cromwell: Is that in fact what the world construes from it? Do you pretend that is what you wish the world to construe from it?
Sir Thomas More: The world must construe according to its wits; this court must construe according to the law.

I literally missed at least half of this movie the first time I watched it (many moons ago) because it was so funny I literally laughed till I cried and missed the subsequent lines/scenes! I can’t remember how many times it took me to watch this before I actually “watched” it all because I laughed so hard!

I dont know why but I’ve always loved this part of the movie End of Evangelion. Even though its just the same line repeated over and over it is posibly one of the best voice acting parts I have heard, making the character seem so real.

we should have made this a contest: describe you favorite movie moment and respondent has to guess the movie.

Does your dog bite?

No.

[dog bites the man]

I thought you said your dog does not bite.

That is not my dog.

One of the Pink Panther movies, I forget which one. Peter Sellers remains the greatest comic genius in film history.

Col. Vogel: “Tell me Dr. Jones, what does the diary tell you that it doesn’t tell us?”, (slapping him w/ his leather gloves)

Dr. Jones:
“It tells me that goose-stepping morans should try ***reading ***books insted of burning them.”

Dr. Schneider: “I believe in the grail, not the swastika.”

Indy: "You stood up to be counted with the enemies of everything the Grail stands for! Who gives a damn what you believe?

A little known, but very good, film is “A Foreign Field”.
In general it is about WW II veterans who return to Normandy 50 years later…The link will give more details. Great Cast and great fun but serious also…

At one point in the film the Character of Cyril describes how his best friend died - slowly -
I’m not sure if I can recall it exactly…

Cyril:…And then I thought I heard Brigsy laughing and I thought, “This isn’t funny mate!”
But he wasn’t laughing, though he was making a lot of noise. You see he’d crawled over a land mine…He took a very long time to die.

Well he was making all this noise and the krauts were pouring fire on us. We couldn’t lift our bloody heads up…
And all I could think was, “Well get on with it Brigsy and Die will ya!!”

(Pause)

(delivered slowly and deliberately) - You see what I mean about guilt.

Angelique: Could you have helped him?

Cyril: (Shaking his head) No no no…

Angelique: Well then…

Cyril: I wanted him dead

(Pause)

Waldo: No you didn’t. You just wanted him quiet.

Maybe it doesn’t translate too well here. In the movie, at that point it was very powerful.

Peace
James
