Yes : )
Although you wouldn’t like to admit it, some women do love teaching the word of God.
Although not ordained, I’d still consider them very much real priests.
You can believe anything you want to or choose to believe, but be certain that you don’t allow others to think that un-Catholic and non-Catholic views or beliefs are part of the Catholic Church. Teaching the word of God can be done by women. Women who teach may also do other things and be other things, but a woman cannot be a Catholic priest. When you speak of a “woman priest,” be sure that you make clear to your listeners that the woman is not a Catholic priest. Specify her faith identity, but please do not let others think that any woman can be a Catholic priest.

Remember that everyone has different opinions.
I would like to move this away from a forum where I was trying to update my living situation.
If you would like to actually have a conversation, without petty back and forth, I will give you a spare email I have, and we can talk through there.

Thank you for being nice about this.
This is one thing I disagree with the Roman church about, and its how women are treated in the church.
I think everyone believes differently, and sometimes that can cloud our judgment.

@anne9

Why don’t you start a thread regarding treatment of women by the Church, since you clearly think that your impression is correct. I’m old enough to remember rationing during World War II, so I’ve read a lot, seen a lot, and experienced a lot.

On the contrary, I think the Catholic Church honors women far better than other faiths and religious cultures. Perhaps you could both teach us about your views and learn from others in such a thread. Please consider it.

Although many of you may not agree, I continue the rituals from my Native ancestors, and I use white sage to cleanse my home. (Im part native Mexican, and it is a big part of our culture.)
Anne.
Great news! Consider (if not done already): There is absolutely nothing wrong with having that white sage blessed. God created it and He can bless it! Just one more layer of “insulation” from the evil one.

Because I don’t feel like arguing over it.
But, I will consider it. Thank you <3
Have a blessed week

Thank you!!! Very nice to see someone accepting other traditions and cultures lol.

Have a blessed week

So many will confuse certain traditions and customs with santeria or brujeria. Nope!

As an aside, I experienced demonic oppression some years ago. It can be scary, but once I learned about it and used the spiritual warfare prayers, it became an annoyance, then stopped.

Yes, but this is a Catholic forum and what’s under discussion is whether a woman can be a Catholic priest. A woman cannot be a priest. That’s not an opinion. It’s a fact. You may have an opinion that women should be consecrated, but the person whom you addressed was stating a fact, that women aren’t and can’t be ordained as Catholic priests and so that should be clear in your posting, that it was not actually a Catholic priest who blessed your home.

@anne9

Please reread this thread (and other threads), again, Anne. Look at the ways people communicate and simply vow not to sink to the level of those who disparage. I don’t like arguments, either. An exchange of ideas, though, with reasons for differing opinions is a good thing for us all, but we must keep foremost the teachings of the Church (of Christ) throughout our discussions, since this is a Catholic site.

However, your topic is important because people with a Mexican heritage are forming an ever larger percentage of US population statistics, and we all need to learn more about each other for better understanding.

Lol! Part of our growth is to learn patience, and CAF definitely can test your patience! In spite of the posts that come across as antagonistic, most people here are good people, trying to improve their faith lives for themselves and those they love, but burdened by issues pertaining to their health, finances, work conditions, job security, finances, and health, or those same issues pertaining to their loved ones.

I truly believe that misunderstandings are the reasons most posters get discombobulated. Trolls, nasties, and head cases aside, what would be perfectly ok in the midst of our friends causes battle lines to be drawn because others don’t see our faces or hear our voices, and computerdom is littered with minefields.

Please do consider a new thread. 😇

The gender of a teacher should not matter, as long as what they preach is good, and holy.
God sees no gender.
Here I disagree. I hope you don’t mind my expanding on the subject a bit more. God made us male and female, to work together with eachother and with Him. His plan for our holiness and happiness, and his plan for the family very much involve males and females living out their complimentary natures. He doesn’t love one more than the other, but I think he definitely sees that we are male and female.

As for the gender of the teacher, as a Catholic woman I have never felt prohibited from teaching. I’ve taught religious education classes, as a mother I teach my kids many things, I have facilitated some classes for adults, led some parish groups, and informally as opportunities arise I teach people about the faith when I can.

All of that being said, teaching is not the same as being a priest. Absolving sins and saying the prayers of consecration are two of the hugest differences I can think of.

I’m so glad your feeling of safety has returned in your home. Thank you for returning to update us.

That does not mean these practices are not superstition at best.

Please, speak to a priest who shares your cultural heritage. If you do not know one, Google your Diocese and there ought to be a priests directory where you can find one.
