Tom got custody of the kids, and then she lost them to Scientology(as their religion) too…
Nicole Kidman appeared in a Broadway Play in which a male cast member stripped her naked on stage.

It probably came back to haunt her in custody court.

Holmes was a Catholic before she got mixed up with this nut.

Let’s hope she gets back to the Truth.
“Nut?”

Ohhhhhhhh boy.🙂

I totally agree Scientology is a cult and I am totally against it-----------

But “nut?”

I’m actually glad Katie is going back to One True Church potentially-----------but “Nut?”

Pardon me for being overly “compassionate” here------but isn’t that bit uncharitable?

Tom is wrong in his beliefs, but he DOES love his daughter----also, he is SINCERELY wrong-------he genuinely believes what he preaches. And apparently he genuinely loved Katie and Katie loved him.

If this is about the whole Brooke Shields brouhaha a few years back-----yes, he should not have said what he said to Shields, but he has already paid for that----one has to admit. As usual, he believes the tenets of his cult---------unfortunately.

Does NOT make him a “nut.” Merely a man who has been tricked (like half of humanity) by Satan into straying from the path of Truth, Jesus, and the Almighty.

Let’s all pray God shows him the truth again. 👍

Why do a lot of people think Tom Cruise is gay? Anyone here think he’s gay?
I know…it is gossip-y. Just wondering why people think that.

no, i am not glad that his marriage broke up either. as another poster said, there is a little girl involved here that will be scarred in some way by this divorce.

i think they both loved each other to begin with and perhaps Tom Cruise thought that his wife was a weak enough Catholic that he would have no problem converting her to Scientology and evidently she was a weak enough Catholic that she saw no problem in marrying a scientologist.

i like Tom Cruise. i don’t agree with his choice of religion. i am sorry that he just turned 50 and is now on his 3rd divorce. i didn’t know that he considered being a priest at 14.
strange that 2 of his wives were both Catholics. i don’t know if his first wife Mimi Rogers
was a scientologist and is the one who introduced him to scientology. i believe she was older than him.

i will pray for Tom Cruise that maybe this is a wake up call. i heard that he was blindsided by the filing of this divorce. had there not been any discussion between the two or did Katie just decide one day she didn’t want to be married anymore and filed for divorce?

i think Tom should work harder at his marriages and put the marriage first and the career second. being a celebrity is not easy and having a celebrity marriage is difficult also, but the celebrities don’t seem to want to work on their marriages as far as i can tell.

i thought the whole Katy Perry/Russell Brand marriage was a weird one and it ended in divorce. not sure how some of these people get together in the first place. many seem mismatched.

Let’s hope she gets back to the one true church. Was Suri ever baptized?
As to the original question, “Is anyone else glad Katie Holmes dumped Tom Cruise?,” glad is a rather strong word to use. Mostly, I haven’t given it much thought because I’m not really interested in celebrities. But, if I think about it as a Catholic, I guess I would say it is a positive for Holmes and her daughtger because she was in an invalid marriage to Cruise. Now, she has a chance to come back to the Church and live her Faith and raise her daughter in the Faith, which is definitely a positive. Maybe in the long run, it will eventually bring Cruise back too. Who knows?

Mostly, though, I don’t really have much of an opinion beyond that.

I have followed Katie since her Dawson’s Creek days. She grew up in a Catholic home. Went to Catholic School, etc. Never afraid to say she was a Catholic or practices her faith. She constantly reminded everyone in school she signed a purity statement and would not have sex before marriage.

That being said around 2005 after the breakup with Chris Kline Katie met Tom got pregnant and married Tom. For a long time many said Suri was not his child since he supposedly could not have children. Anyway

My thoughts are that Katie never recovered from the divorce, sex before marriage etc. and Tom was her childhood crush that may have said he would protect her etc. These are only my thoughts

Throughout her marriage I prayed her eyes would be opened and she would go back to the Catholic Church and take Suri with her.

Suri was never baptized, but had a naming ceremony

I pray Suri gets to the water and quick. Just said an Our Father, a Hail Mary, a Glory Be and an Oh My Jesus for Katie to get Suri baptized.

I pray God will reach out to him in this difficult time of emotional turmoil and heartrbreak. Turning 50 alone must be very tough. Time to rekindle your relationship with the God of your youth, Tom.

Are we talking about that nut Tom Cruise? 😃

Being raised in a Catholic environment, and then converting to Scientology at age 28 is not being tricked by the devil.
He chose to rebel, to go the wrong way, to profess impossible theologies invented by a second rate sci/fi writer whom Scientologists say is God. . He’s a nut. 😃

was he raised in a Catholic environment? i don’t know much about his childhood other than he didn’t finish high school. and he is one of the few people in the world who without a high school education, went on to become successful. at least he didn’t fall into alcohol and drugs like so many young hollywood celebrities who become famous young. tom cruise seems to have handled his financial life and his celebrity life pretty well. did he lose his father when he was young? that would definitely impact a young boy growing up to lose his father. there are a lot of scientologists out there and so i wouldn’t characterize him as a nut simply because he is a scientologist. i wouldn’t characterize scientology as a religion, but i don’t know that much about it. i do think it is a cult and it will be hard for Tom Cruise to pull away from it if he wants to because i think he has invested a lot of money into scientology. i think it would be best to send prayers to Tom Cruise, Katie and the daughter Suri and pray there is a reconcilliation of some sorts or a way to repair the marriage. i wonder what Katie’s parents thought of her idea of marrying a scientologist in the first place. granted, she was an adult and able to make her own choices.
i have no idea how Tom is programmed to think and deal with the world through scientology so i can’t say that i know where he is coming from. however, perhaps Katie felt because of scientology, there were 3 of them in the marriage and she couldn’t handle it.

It’s no good, Goose. It’s no good.
😃

I definitely live inder a rock since this is my first news of the split.
I hate to see families fall apart but cults are freaky. I hope she gets back to church and sorts herself out. Prayers for Katie and the little girl. And also for the nut, that he repents and returns to Christ.

I pray we see photos soon of Katie taking Suri to Mass. Keeep praying the little girl gets baptized

He himself described his father as a “bully”. His mother left the abusive home, taking Tom and his sister with her, her father died a while back and they didn’t reconcile if I’m not mistaken. Tom had dyslexia, was bullied in school etc. There was a great deal of insecurity and instability in his early life. If you’re going to admire him for something, I know I do, it’s his resilience and ability to overcome. He’d be a tremendous asset in the Catholic Church. I wish him well, and God bless him.

He started out in a movie the name of which I forget. He was one of four young guys drifting around. Among other things, they went to a Mexican brothel. I don’t think there was any story to speak of. Cruise was not the leader of this gang of four. He didn’t even have the most lines. Somebody else did.

But he was the only good looking guy of the four. You know what I mean. The guy you remember when the movie is forgotten. Producers notice things like that. Soon, he was given* All The Right Moves* which was a perfect vehicle for him because he really did play football in high school. And his career took off. He was lucky. He had the looks, the voice, and the boyish mannerisms. He’s been capitilizing on these assets every since.

It doesn’t mean he’s a great artist, or actor. He’s like John Wayne. 162 films, and Wayne was always Wayne-ish. He’d play a coal miner in Ireland, and you’d wait for him to pull out a six shot revolver because he was still speaking like a Wild West cowboy.

Cruise had the following movie hits to his credit, at the indicated ages:

21 YO All the Right Moves
21 YO Risky Business
24 YO Top Gun
24 YO The Color of Money
26 YO Cocktail
26 YO Rain Man
27 YO Born on the Fourth of July

If anybody had more wealth, success, and more to look forward to in life, I’d like to know who.

Then at age 28 he gets involved in Scientology! :banghead: :bighanky:

Early life trauma is not enough to explain that.

You just don’t know that. You certainly don’t go into Scientology if you’re a happy, balanced, emotionally healthy individual. Mimi Rogers is the one who introduced him to this sect. Tom seems more interested in the personal growth than in the crazy alien stuff, but still…
