Archbishop Dolan has a good message for those of us still practicing our faith. My brother and sister are both now “agnostic”, after all 3 of us were raised in a Catholic home and educated in private Catholic schools for our entire educations. We are now all in our 60s and I pray a rosary daily for their conversion. To say that they fell away from the church due to the priests’ sex scandal would be incorrect Neither is this true in the case of lots of my cousins and high school friends. The real reason they fell away is due to sins of the flesh, plain and simple. The teachings of the church forbid sex before marriage and contraception, both of which began to boom in the 60’s. The sex scandal is now a convenient excuse held up as the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church and a good reason to avoid looking into their faith issues (or lack thereof).
